If it hadn't been for Pincher's wandering hands good old Rishi (where am I domiciled this week?) Sunak would still be cheering the lying tow-rag from the rafters of 11 Downing Street.Rishi Sunak enters contest to be next Tory leader
The former chancellor said he will restore trust following Boris Johnson’s premiership.www.independent.co.uk
So is Rishi.
Lets face it, his furlough approach was as left as the left could get, so much so half of those furloughed dont want to go back to work anymore
I would back Rishi, he has a sensible approach to boom and bust and realises we need to reign it in now and work hard to get back on track. And work hard should apply to all of us who can.
In the video Sunak makes much of his love for the UK and patriotic values. If it hadn't been for Pincher's wandering hands good old Rishi (where am I domiciled this week?) Sunak would still be cheering the lying tow-rag from the rafters of 11 Downing Street.
Except that Corbyn stood down because he failed badly in the election. Johnson was taken down by those who had previously backed him to the hilt over his lying, his lack of morality and his lack of integrity. And if it wasn't for such a spectacular election defeat, Starmer would be still be cheering Corbyn to the rafters.
When are you lot going to learn that MP's from both sides are hypocrites and in it purely for their own gain?
Jezzer jumped before he was pushedExcept that Corbyn stood down because he failed badly in the election. Johnson was taken down by those who had previously backed him to the hilt over his lying, his lack of morality and his lack of integrity.
And when Starmer became leader he couldn't wait to stick the knife in and suspend Corbyn. Having previously backed him to the hilt.Except that Corbyn stood down because he failed badly in the election. Johnson was taken down by those who had previously backed him to the hilt over his lying, his lack of morality and his lack of integrity.
They would have a point mind.Yes it is.
There's a lack of talent across The House.
I think we've got a fair chance we are going to get our first non-white PM.
And they will say words to the effect of "two* women and now me; whilst the Party opposite talk about equality, we are the only Party to do it.
We believe that where you're from shouldn't hold you back" etc etc.
(*might even be 3 with Suella Braverman)
Not sure Starmer can win an election.I'll sum up. It doesn't matter who the next Conservative leader is, when the next election comes around Labour will win quite comfortably. Until then, most of you just like your own voices and will go round in ever widening circles looking for something to moan about because you all believe you're genuine experts on all matters political.
Do you write these things specifically to amuse us?I'll sum up. It doesn't matter who the next Conservative leader is, when the next election comes around Labour will win quite comfortably. No I'm not sure either. When all the whooping and high fives have subsided over Johnson's demise, Starmer is going to have to up his game. He's not had to do too much whilst his main opponent has been constantly shooting himself in the foot. That might change now and the spotlight will be on him a little bit more. Not sure Starmer can win an election.
Possibly, probably, who knows? Not something i think about, it's all rather mundane.Do you write these things specifically to amuse us?
We'll see I suppose, I just don't think he has much about him as a leader that'll appeal, not a reflection on him really. No I'm not sure either. Very True, but some of the "Everything left of centre is wonderful, everything right of centre is Shite" postings give me a good laugh.Possibly, probably, who knows? Not something i think about, it's all rather mundane.
For one, the core of this thread is about the suitability of Tory leadership candidates to be PM. For two, Starmer accepted the role of Shadow SofS for exiting the EU under Jeremy Corbyn. That does not mean that he followed all of Corbyn's views. Once he became leader of the party he came down quickly on those who had allowed anti-semitism to become a narrative with which to beat Labour. Those people included Corbyn and Rebecca Long-Bailey; the latter of whom he had promoted to the Shadow Cabinet when he became leader. If you are condemning Starmer for that then I cannot agree with you. There is certainly no hypocrisy to see here. And when Starmer became leader he couldn't wait to stick the knife in and suspend Corbyn. Having previously backed him to the hilt.
I can't see any difference?
And we're not debating Corbyn's actions, we're debating Starmer's actions and in particular his hypocrisy
Sunak would never get my support . . claimed he helped the public out with furlough but forgot about the 3 million of us who had the guts to set up their own business. When questioned on it by many people including Martin Lewis he just ignored them!!Rishi Sunak enters contest to be next Tory leader

And FWIW, I know a few people connected directly to his office and they are worried about a policy vacuum - it may be a case of doing nothing whilst your enemy keeps shooting themselves in the foot; but once the new PM is installed, the Tory Party machine will get into gear and swing behind them.
Sunak would never get my support . . claimed he helped the public out with furlough but forgot about the 3 million of us who had the guts to set up their own business. When questioned on it by many people including Martin Lewis he just ignored them!!
We were just left high and dry and I'll never forgive the Tories for that. I've paid tax all my live and never claimed a penny but when I needed it there was nothing. Not just a handful of the public but 3 million who were just cast aside.
I had to take a £40K loan out just to keep going.
It sickens me when the Tories come on and say they saved the country.
Nope I've been in business 12 years . . . fell through the net like 3 million others. That's odd, I know a bloke who was self-employed, and he got about £30,000 from the Covid Self-Employed Income Support Scheme, despite his business being largely unaffected by the pandemic.
Was it a new business? Was that the problem?
Nope I've been in business 12 years . . . fell through the net like 3 million others.
I lost all my work for the best part of a year . . thankfully busier than ever again now.
I was eligible for a bounce back loan but obviously have to pay it back.
Hope you're back to doing OK.Sunak would never get my support . . claimed he helped the public out with furlough but forgot about the 3 million of us who had the guts to set up their own business. When questioned on it by many people including Martin Lewis he just ignored them!!

The Conservatives under Johnson have wasted vast amounts of money, but we have nothing to show for it.I think the problem they face is that, post covid, there really is no money to spend, in which case what is the point of the Labour Party?
The Conservatives under Johnson have wasted vast amounts of money, but we have nothing to show for it.
A lot of people have jobs, but hey as a socialist that wouldn’t bother you.The Conservatives under Johnson have wasted vast amounts of money, but we have nothing to show for it.
I am mate - busier than ever nowHope you're back to doing OK.
Most small company owners take a low salary and the rest as dividends as it’s more tax efficient. As a result they were entitled to very little under the furlough scheme and nothing at all under the self employment income support scheme.Self-employed or limited company?
Assuming the latter, would you and your employees not have been eligible for the furlough scheme?
And yet tax on dividends is very low at the basic rate. Most small company owners take a low salary and the rest as dividends as it’s more tax efficient. As a result they were entitled to very little under the furlough scheme and nothing at all under the self employment income support scheme.
