Grayson appointed Fleetwood manager

Nice reunion with Grayson when we play them in March then. Will be sickening if they get their first Bloomfield Road win under him.

The replies on their clubs announcement tweet is just full on despair. I felt the Barton appointment was quite a risky one which worked out for them somewhat, this seems like complete regression..

Well they were already boring to watch so he will adapt to the style quickly.
Hopefully he freezes Camps out so we can sign him on a free

A good appointment -not sure they could have done better. Did a superb job at Dirty including beating the verminous ManUre at the Theatre of Schemes in the Cup.

Should add a bit more intensity to your rivalry with the Cods 😉

Divides opinion on here. But I think it’s a good appointment for them, plenty of experience.

For a club that’s going bust you would have thought they would have brought in a lesser known person on the cheap? 🤔

Only a non-Blackpool fan could say ‘Good appointment’ 🙄
True but he had too much baggage for a return to BR, inc the Preston job, leaving the Seasiders in the first place and then possibly having some expectation post O.

Good luck to him. Good manager when he had a bit more hair but doesn’t seem to have quite the same verve since his Sunderland experience.

The fact they’ve only given him a contract to the end of the season is meaningful ...

Last?

Is that for this season or for good?

Anyway I thought you said they weren’t getting anyone in till after the window closes?

I bet he and AP are on the phone right now. 😂
Its Sunday afternoon and the window closes tomorrow. Plenty of time to assess the squad and bring in new blood to strengthen the weaknesses...

Its not really an innovative appointment and with Grayson he has had as much mundane failure as he has had success.
Could pan out either way, but he’ll need some cash thrown at it I think, and it’s hard to know how much will be available to him.
It's until the end of the season. Was linked with something similar at Wigan.

His two year contract here is due to expire at the end of June, if it's still being paid. So hopefully they've taken over the remaining time on it.

For good with a bit of luck as it would finally put an end to this FCF love in nonsense 👍

No idea how it will pan out, hopefully completely in failure but who knows.

One thing I would say, they've gone from Joey cutting his teeth, to an experienced manager. Probably about staying in the league, rather than building for the future.

Well looking at their current position and current form and the appointment till the end of the season I’am 100% convinced it’s just about staying in the league.

Feel sorry for the Fleetwood players, all that time off and the golf courses aren't open.
Probably the last available job on the western side of the A59 corridor that he could get.
Maybe he will finish off his managerial career at Harrogate, think that would be Graysons dream job.

I know Barton was not perfect but at least he had Fleetwood playing proper football. It is difficult to see how this can be anything other than a backward step for Fleetwood. I know they are our neighbours but i have always wished them the best.

And his successes were quite a long time ago, recently I think moribund would be the best way to describe his career.

Wonder if he might come in for Thorniley (possibly on loan)?

He was his signing when he was here.......Might depend on how far off Ballard and Gretarsson are I spose?

I laughed when I first saw this.

At least we can stop paying his wages now

Can see him doing ok there, could have seen him doing ok with us in the end with a bit of time.

They needed a manager desperately, he was cheap and available. Only till the end of the season, but i would be worried if I was a Fleetwood fan. Fleetwood dont really have the players for his route one hoofball. Much better with the ball on the floor. Be an interesting second half of the season for them, thats for sure.

Could work out well for both SG and the club, my concern is Grayson may have had his time and is now just becoming a journeyman looking for a last deal. Fair to say I doubt any championship club would offer him a post as it stands, so this could be his last chance to re-build his reputation.
