Grayson appointed Fleetwood manager

Adds a bit of extra interest anyway, think the cods are in free fall and Grayson is the experienced anchor hired to stop it. I was speaking to a cod fan the other day, he was wanting an Ian Holloway type appointment to bring a bit of outside interest and personality to the club, they really couldn't of gone any more stale than appointing Larry.

He might be the anchor that drags down a sinking trawler.

I'm a Blackpool fan and i think its a good appointment

Experienced manager with a proven record in this league

I will always be grateful to him for getting us promoted
When Grayson was sacked the Seasiders were 15th which is their current position in L1. I'm not making a judgement but his dismissal was so as to improve on that, and the league table tends not to lie.

Divides opinion on here. But I think it’s a good appointment for them, plenty of experience.
Why is Grayson a good appointment for Fleetwood? He was rubbish for us and we called him a dinosuar but, allegedly he's okey for them. Last time I looked we were below them in the same division. It isn't as tho we are any better, or in a higher division than Fleetwood.

Simon hitting the ground running and getting straight on with the job...he's currently in the Sky Sports studio summarising Leeds v Leicester.

They are in freefall
We are on same points with 3 games (all home) in hand.
They have a relegation battle ahead whilst we aim for the Play offs.

I'd like to think we are a work in progress, promotion seems like an outside bet for us this season, so assuming we are in League 1 next season, let's see where we are 10 games in.
If we aren't in the top 6 then maybe Critchley isn't the man but my guess is he will work a lot harder than Grayson would to get us there.

How many Blackpool fans would swap Critchley for Grayson though? You would actually struggle to find one.
I'm sure but Grayson had the club pushing for a top six spot then blew up hence the tin tack. Its a results business granted but some of the vitriol being directed at Grayson isnt justified imo

Grayson and Critchley record up to this point in the season for us is nearly identical.

Is Critch doing absolutely rubbish?

Given time with us, I think he could have gotten us into the playoffs. I can see him doing well with Fleetwood he has good contacts in the game, Fleetwood are going to be cutting back, I can see Grayson being able to get decent young players and very good loans to help Fleetwood out.

Graysons done, yesterdays man with nothing new to offer. All about steadying the ship. They dont have to worry about bums on seats so nothing to lose.

Nuttall is available at a knock down 100kgbp if he is inte
Well they were already boring to watch so he will adapt to the style quickly.
Hopefully he freezes Camps out so we can sign him on a free
You can have Camps for free.
He's done nothing since before Christmas.
It's ironic that you sacked Grayson when you were 15th.
Massive improvement hey.
Blackpool fans got Grayson sacked because they mistakenly believe that they are a championship outfit and most of them know jack about football.

Sure we've got 3 games on the cods?

Personally I think that this is a bad appointment, Graysons tactics were ok back in 2007, but league one has moved on, Grayson hasn't. Do Fleetwood have a Gnanduillet type player to hoof it to? I have a feeling that players just gone to the nobbers on loan.

Well delusions of being a proper football club thanks for your imput.
The league position was not as relevant as the bore fest we were subjected to.
He managed to kill the feel good factor in a few short months, and if he manages to buy any players in the few short hours till the window closes the expect a dud

Just saying to a mate, for all his sins Barton as a bloke was interesting and good value for money. As a manager got Fleetwood to the play offs and love em or hate them had em playing some good exciting football.
As for Grayson I'd imagine him and AP with the BFC links know each other on a personal level. Grayson wasn't first choice and with his track record in management over the last few years needs to rebuild his reputation. With that in mind and thinking the likes of Grayson loves football, couldn't do anything else and wants (needs) to stay in the game isn't going to be on the highest wage.

Grayson has been an utter failure in his last 3 jobs. His methods clearly don’t work anything like they used to.

He will steady them and I don’t think they’re in any danger of going down, but it won’t be possible for them to progress with him in charge.

Just mentioned to my wife that Simon Grayson was a manager again . She replied " Chelsea ? " - Very close I said , hard to tell the difference, Fleetwood ! 😂

Could work out well for both SG and the club, my concern is Grayson may have had his time and is now just becoming a journeyman looking for a last deal. Fair to say I doubt any championship club would offer him a post as it stands, so this could be his last chance to re-build his reputation.
We do you have a concern, it is not your team, have a laugh instead.

Maybe that's why he’s only there till the end of the season?

I never called him a dinosaur. I was against potting him as I felt he needed longer in the job. Sorry to disappoint.

I think Grayson had lost the dressing room by that point too, none of the players looked remotely interested, a far cry from the togetherness of this seasons squad, and that's despite the fact the players have to socially distance off of the pitch.

He’s certainly something that rhymes with anchor

Grayson goes from one mid table club going nowhere to another mid table club going nowhere...and the winner is....SG bank balance....kerching..🤣

The Cods needed a change as they are on a terrible run. It seems to me his brief is to keep them up this season. Will be interesting to see who he brings in as I can't see Wiles being his number 2. Adds a bit of spice to the league though. Heard that Grayson wasn't first choice for the job too.

I'm sure you mean no disrespect, but unfortunately TP is now in a home, having succumbed to Dementia. Top bloke, and the pictures of him make me very sad, unfortunately way too many of us have relatives in this way.
I wasn’t aware of this, that’s very sad. I certainly have the utmost respect for TP, and would say he was massively influential in two promotions.

Its note exactly a desirable club as such although it'll be an easy drive for Grayson, and I guess there will be a relative few quid in the pot.
Interesting that they brought in John Sheridan last time who did a really good job,and really should have been given the opportunity; they looked relegated before he took over.

Pilley needs to decide where he's going with the Cods because he's getting through a few managers now, and inevitably that wont give him anything like the success he craves.

You can see it now can't you.

AP. Simon its Andy....Andy Pilley Fleetwood town owner.

SG. Oh hello what can I do for you, you'll have to be quick though as I'm doing a bit of punditry on sky at the moment.

AP. Well as you know I had to part with Joey earlier in the year and Tony Barry ahm ahm, sorry and you were the first person we thought of, would you like to be 1st team coach at Fleetwood?

SG. Absolutely Andy, I'll bring in Dunny and Phil and.....

AP. Simon it'll be til the end of the season, you'll have to work with what you've got here. I'm sure a manager of your experience can cope.

SG. Well ok, what's the brief then?

AP. The brief Simon is get us out of this bloody division. You've done it with 4 other clubs and I can see no reason why you can't do it with Fleetwood.

Fast forward may 8th 2021

SG. Mission accomplished Andy, mission accomplished.

AP. I meant to the pissing Championship 🤦‍♂️

It's usually Ian Miller who goes from club to club with him!

They wanted Anthony Barry but the new Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel wanted Barry to stay at Stamford Bridge.

Grayson is a good pick on a trial basis...if it doesnt work out they will get someone else in the close season.
