Ground you've been to most away from BR

Other than Wembley (😉), which ground would you say you have been to most?

For me, it's probably Old Trafford just because we have a work box there and use it a couple of times a season.

3 in partcular:
1. Old Trafford - lived in Sale for 6 years and worked for Trafford Council in the 1980s. When I couldn't get upmto BR or to away matches I often used to potg at Man U.
2. Elland Rd in the 1970s when I was at uni there. Couldn't afford to travel home regularly so often watched Leeds when they had a decent side
3. SIncil Bank, Lincoln. Lived in Lincolnshire for over 30 years and quite often watched Lincoln if I couldn't get to BFC match.

Boundary Park or Oakwell. Got friends who support both so been there for non Pool games as well as our games with them.

After that probably Turf Moor and Sleepdale

Whaddon Road Cheltenham. Lived 10 minutes walk from the ground around the time our kids were born. Not realistic to get to any but the closest of Blackpool away games at that time (eg Kidderminster) so Cheltenham was good for a quick football fix.

Springfield Park - I used to live in Wigan and would go and watch them with my mate when my dad wasn't up for taking me to Pool. Seen loads of games there to the point that it did feel a bit weird going in the away end.

Goodison - cos my aunties ex was an Everton season ticket holder and would take me in the late 80s.

It has to be Bradford's ground, god knows what It's called now, as I have lived in the area for nearly 40 years. Apart from Blackpool games I've been to games there with friends when I couldn't get to Blackpool and also a Save City Game when they played a fundraiser, following their own version of the O's, Richmond, who lead them into administration.

Maine Road - used to live round the corner and a mate left his season ticket with me so I could go to all the reserve games for nowt as well as first team games when I couldn't get to the Blackpool game. I'd say at least fifty times.

Eintracht Frankfurt, as I used to live there and go all the time.

Lost count the amount of times I have been to ‘Ice Station Zebra’ as well!!!

Probably Rugby Park. I lived in Troon in the early 90s so it was a toss up between Killie and Ayr Utd. Started following Killie home and away and saw them promoted to the SPL in 1993.

Birmingham for me - have lived here for 20 years or so and know a few blues fans, so sometimes take in a midweek game when Pool aren’t playing…

Raikes Hall Gardens for me. Often pop down several times a week to try and imagine what it was like to see fans walking down Caunce Street and Westcliffe Drive towards that fabulous old stadium.

Before of course it was ripped from the community and forced to merge with the clothes peg selling local rivals from South Shore.

Strangely it's Birmingham away I've done the most times, and I've never seen us win there. The most recent trip there felt like a win but it was only a draw (we won on aggregate).

1 more trip to Deepdale and I'll be level so that'll be rectified this year. The two big gaps without playing Preston since the turn of the millennium have stumped my trips there

The unmentionable ground at the other end of the M55. Love going to matches at Accrington S.

If anyone is interested in this sort of thing who hasn't seen this before, there is an interactive map where you can track the grounds you've been to. Just have to sign up (free) and put in the grounds you've attended

I’d say Oakwell or Boundary Park purely because we were in the same leagues for ages and they were fairly local.

Surprisingly I’ve only been to Deepdale 5 times. 3-3 draw, 1-0 Conroy lost, the back to back 1-0’s and the league cup loss

WHL, first time there was the weekend after I moved down in 1988, I only went as it was Paul Stewart's debut for Tottenham.

Spurs were at home to Man Utd, finished 2-2 and Stewart missed a last gasp penalty.

In recent times it’s Bulpit Lane - home to Hungerford Town who are punching way above their weight in the 6th tier. Can leave home at 2:30 on a Saturday and be home soon after 5. Get in to the ground, have a couple of beers and something unhealthy for lunch, all for under £20. And hear everything said on the pitch, and the crunch of the tackles as they go in. Oh, and the football isn’t bad either. Would still rather do a 450-mile round trip to see the Mighty though, which is why we’ve gone back to having season tickets this year

Sixfields. Used to live fairly close, the kids went to their Saturday morning training, and had a couple of colleagues who helped out there.

Lived on Sincil Bank whilst living in Lincoln and took full advantage of £1 tickets whilst a student. Must have done 50+ games.

Have been to Huddersfield plenty of times to watch Blackpool over the years too.

Ninian Park, 67-71 (was a student then)
Cardiff City ,old Div 2
Home Internationls
European Cup Winners Cup
Always 'lively'

Dean Court (The Vitality), by far.

The two most notable instances:

23rd Dec 2006 - AFCB 1-3 Blackpool. They day 12 year old me switched allegiances from Chelsea to Blackpool. (Happened to go up that year, does that make me a glory supporter?!)

24th Feb 2004 - AFCB 6-0 Wrexham.
Got given free tickets through school, ended up witnessing a James Hayter hatrick which is still the quickest in football league history!

Bolton or Preston I’d guess as we visited relatives in Bolton regularly & by complete chance when Blackpool were playing there, at there old ground. Thanks dad 😄👍

Come on you Shore! We'd have had over a century of Prem football had it not been for the dead weight of those St. John's rejects.

Got to be Deepdale, when Blackpool played down Sarth as a kid in the 80's my father would take us to watch Preston play or even when Friday night football was fashionable we would go to Tranmere or Stockport or even as far as Crewe.

Probably Rugby Park. I lived in Troon in the early 90s so it was a toss up between Killie and Ayr Utd. Started following Killie home and away and saw them promoted to the SPL in 1993.
I used to love the Old Rugby Park. It was awesome. My dads best friend had the concrete contract for the New Rugby Park.

Highbury Avenue. Used to watch Fleetwood FC in the NPL when I was too young to go away on my own.

Maine Rd for me too.

Used to be quite an amusing place in the 80s. Big build up beforehand, the lucky few on the Kippax right opposite the tunnel who were first to see the team coming out, huge applause.

Then the game would start and, as City were invariably crap in the 80s, within 20 mins the atmosphere would have degenerated to somewhere between weary indifference to open hostility - a lot of it aimed at the board and chairman Peter Swales.

Then at half time and the scores were read out, if Utd were losing the place turned into a carnival, and no-one seemed to care any longer that City were still losing. Until they actually did lose, then mass boos at the end.

The sad part is now, with what City have become, they're the mirror image of everything they despised about United and they can't see it.

In the sixties my dad who lived in Manchester took me loads of times to Old Trafford and Maine Rd so probably been those two more than any other. Probably well over 20 times for each of them.

I was on a ship in Dry Dock in Melbourne in 1986 and watched a game at the Olympic Stadium between Sydney Olympic and South Melbourne.

One team had a large Greek support base and the other had a large Italian fan base …….. the game was held up for 20 minutes while the fans had a punch up in the main stand !
