Got a call from “HMRC “ today saying unless I phoned them back with details of my solicitor I would face the consequences. How would a representative of the Black Lives Matter movement deal with such a call ?

Phone them back.....call them a bunch of c##ts and they can f##k Off if they think you're paying those retards 1 penny.
Nobody puts Keith (seriously...you're called Keith?).....in the corner......and if they call again you will kick the s#it out of the dog.

#Here to help

By Googling scam calls involving HMRC, I suppose. Always say you want it in writing. Don’t engage beyond that

"By using their brain and not answering the phone to a number they don’t recognise?"

So someone running a business would never answer the phone then ?

In answer to the op, being a bit clued up as to how the real world works, he’d probably say “This call is a scam. Fuck off!!”.

Whereas you got in a tizz and decided to consult with your “mates” on Avftt. Whilst trying, and failing, to score a point in the so called “Culture Wars”.

I get calls from an 0161 number. Answer it then leave them hanging for a few minutes. They don't call back.

Wiz. Don't forget to put your phone next to the radio. 😃
(On this occasion it was actually a computer calling)

What a pathetic intro. To link this to race. Idiot.
the people phoning were of " sub continent of Asia extraction " would you want them phoning your elderly parents or teenage children and providing them with their bank details . My question is "How would a representative of the Black Lives Matter movement deal with such a call ?"

I got the same call today on my work mobile from an 061 number. Automated cut if off after first sentence

If you ring them back it auto diverts you to a premium rate number that you are paying at least a £1 a minute for the call . Even if you ring them back to tell them they are a bunch of 'B******s and the scum of the earth they are making money from you. And they can spoof numbers that look as though they are from the Inland Revenue.

What does BLM have to do with it ?

Keith, I suppose a representative of Black Lives Matter would answer it much like any other normal person, like you for instance!

Blow a whistle or toot a horn down the phone and revel in the yells of pain experienced by the winker on the other end.

No, the big question is how would a representative of BLM deal with such a stupid question. I think they'd show the same contempt that I'm currently showing.

Get a call blocking phone, the server can't get through the prompt to state who is calling, then press hash to connect, so no operator gets connected to you.

Sounds like a Scam to me. As has already been said 'HMRC don't make phone threats'. We always did it face to face. 😉
What telephone number did they give you?
Don't ring it at all.
Why don't you ring HMRC and ask what they want.
Tell them you think there's a 'Scam' on the go.

I think the answer would be, something like, “hello, Black Lives Matter, how can I help you?”

However, the bigger question is. Why did you ask the question, in the first place?

Would you please elaborate?

They asked for details of your Solicitor...really😀.
All I can say you did really well...if you try to phone them you get a mechanised voice asking...what is the reason for your call today...and if you’re lucky ,if it actually understands your response, 20 ( or more like 40 minutes) later after the worst repetitive music in the world you might get through to someone who then albeit in a friendly manner is actually unable to sort out your query because they are simply these days no more than call centres manned by people who for whatever reason lack the basic training and skills perhaps because with self assessment on many matters tax wise these days they rely on an IT system which is Crap.

For the record my wife worked for HMRC for 38 years and still has friends who work there who will tell you that it is no longer driven by experience and knowledge any more but a white board mentality of numbers processed and nothing else.

I received a call from my "internet provider" similarly requesting solicitor details - I put the phone down because it was an obvious scam as already pointed out in this thread

Bleach51 - your missus is spot on. I received a letter from HMRC (not a scam on this occasion) saying I had underpaid tax for 2018/19. I used to be a bit of a tax geek so I knew that was incorrect. Without boring you with the detail, I phoned them and they agreed that their assessment was incorrect but that they couldn't send a new calculation out because it's all now computer based, and I would have to wait for the computer to send a revised statement - that was 5 months ago 😧

++TOP TIP++

Simply keep them dangling by saying things like 'he's in the garden I'll go and get him' and then 'he's just washing his hands he won't be long' and then if they are still there a ref's whistle down the phone works a treat.

Bleach51, where did she work? I did my time in Luton.
Originally in Mcr in one of the offices near me in my days working for House of Fraser( based in Kendals) then Stretford over looking Old Trafford cricket ground, then back into Mcr,at one point in what was then the new offices next to the Lowry Hotel and across the road from me working for an Insurance Broker based in the old brewing tower of Threllfalls( great work place and somewhere I once audited when it was a brewery) before finally arriving in ABH...Albert Bridge House ..doing profiling work on Ex Pats...a proper horror of a building only matched by the Law Courts( Oyston territory) across the Road.

by the way I didn’t know Luton had a prison...only joking...mind you Strangeways is only a short distance from some of the above named places

bleach51 said 'btw I didn't know Luton had a prison'. 😁
Maybe it should have one, save all the relatives of inmates travelling far to see them.😉
It's a long time since I worked in Mcr, 1958/9.
