HOLIDAYS 2022 Where is everybody going?

We’ve been looking at the Lancaster Canal too. I’ve been on a few narrowboat holidays and they’re very relaxing. We need to find one that’s dog friendly though
Thames is great as not many locks and they are generally manned
I'd say all waterways holidays are dog friendly though - you just need to hire a boat that allows pets

Just booked 13 night in Italy flying into Bergamo
Plan to tour the Italian Lakes / Dolomites for three-four days and then maybe take in Verona / Venice after which we'll head down to Tuscany and then amble back up towards Milan via Cinque Terre and Barolo

Also looking at renting a large villa in Croatia in August for Mrs TAMs 50th if anyone has any recommends - currently looking at Trogir area
Istrian Peninsula is beautiful TAM Rovinj in paricular!

Makarska is the place to go in Croatia Tim. A bit more lively than other areas with some nice restaurants and bars. Not too commercialised as well. Beaches are mainly shingle though, but some hotels have man made sandy ones. A nice harbour too, especially if your into a boat trip.

New tui hotel just opened santa maria palace in sal check it out , it's on my radar
We had that palace booked before covid hit (was due to open ocr 20) and got really good price due to not built!

With covid we then moved to rui funana as we moved it to spend Xmas day 21 there , so price was big increase and couldn't justify . Plus palace probably too posh for us.

So moved it again (with another price increase) to 19th Dec this year..

I've been in training to get fighting-fit for my son's 4-day stag trip to Benidorm in late June.

I had 10 days/nights on Kos last October and I'm now a week into a 2-month break in Thailand.

My lad's having to make do with a 2nd trip to London this season to watch The Mighty 'Pool -on Saturday he'll be at Craven Cottage with a few mates and, I believe, a Tangerine Barmy Army approaching 2,000-strong!👍

My 🧡 will be there with y'all and I'll be watching on TangerineTV and hopefully turning Thailand tangerine.

With all the Buddhist monks on our side and wearing our unique and world-famous colours, we've gotta be on to a winner!

Loud n Proud we all are...🧡🧡🧡

Those booze prices seem familiar. Is it a P&O cruise? Remember this though, If you buy the drinks package for you then your wife has to have it too. So it could be close on 80 quid for the two of you. If you've got plenty of days just cruising then the drinks package can be well worth it. But if you've got a few days where you are going to be ashore most of the day, then it takes some doing to get through that amount of drink to get your monies worth. And of course, you don't want tp be waking up the following day with a hangover. A balcony is a great experience too for just watching the scenery.
Oi 20s forget P&O, Celebrity are selling cruises currently free flights, free drinks, free WiFi and gratuities. We're off to Rome in May doing a 10 nighter round Italy, Greece, Croatia and Montenegro.
Offer just been extended to end of March, we're flying from LHR as free flight offer had no direct flights from NW.

Nowhere planned…..maybe a few days in the Trough of Bowland….which I might add is great. There are a few places we would like to walk and visit again and also for the first time.
Would love to book another cruise but not this year…the better half wants to do some work on our bathroom( to acknowledge the fact we are not getting any younger) and is saving up for whatever( she won’t tell me yet in case I blow a fuse) it is.
Having said all that we are retired and have been for a while and just sitting out in our back garden when the weather is good is these days more than enough.
My neck of the woods mate, I grew up in Chipping. Great as a kid, boring as a teenager but now I'm 47 I love going back.

Get yourself up Parlic, followed by pie and peas at The Sun Inn.

We stayed near Pula in Istria at the Northern end of Croatia, coastal with loads of Roman history including a fantastic arena Tim

A couple of weekends in Holmfirth (tied in with gigs at The Picturedome).

A week on the Lancaster Canal in a narrow boat.
My father’s house is on the canal at Hest Bank. (So don’t forget to wave! 😂). The Hest Bank pub is right on the canal next to the bridge. Dan the new landlord is a qualified chef and the food is absolutely delicious…

What a lovely spot to live. We’ll make the pub one of our stopping places and have a meal there, thanks for the heads up.

yeh lovely spot. We often park up at the Canal turn [?]at Carnforth and walk down the canal to Hest Bank and back along the coastline. A lovely stretch of the canal with some beautiful houses and gardens coming down to the canal. Will try and give the pub a go.

Hi Goose, never been to Canada, but my eldest loved Vancouver. I know you are a frequent visitor to USA. I enjoyed San Fran but I think my days of long haul are waning.
I live in the PD so class myself as having a year round holiday.
Take care mate UTMP

Cruise round the Fjords in April, been on my bucket list for years and booked it 18 months ago and paid monthly so barely noticed the money going out. Hoping to go to Germany in august with the missus, looking somewhere like . Rothenburg. Couple of UK breaks with mates and family booked
Certainly worth a visit. We did Norway in 2019 with P & O and a lot cheaper going there on a cruise than staying in the country.

Didnt rate Santorini, gets too busy when the ships dock. Followed that with trips to Crete, Rhodes and Corfu and its put me off Greece for life, came across as they didnt like the English and everything dear. Turkey is my fave at the moment, although not booked anything yet. Golf, sun and a cruise round the Med or Caribbean for me.

If you didn't rate Santorini, then you didn't go to the right places. Loads of amazing areas with no to little tourists. Best views from Santo Winery. Got married there and been to the island 9 times. When ships in we avoid Thira, as you say much too busy.Got to disagree about the Greeks and Brits - always been treated brilliantly. They do despise the Germans though and not keen on Italians either.
Keep away from Mykonos, you would hate that unless you're a bit of a groove god.

Great! I seem to be spending a lot of time there at the moment following dad’s fall but I don’t mind because it really is lovely! Tyson Fury used to live very close by and the pub is one of his haunts… we’d often see (and hear 😂!) him with Paris and the kids walking down the tow path. My dad is well known in there because of his age and he’s such good fun which makes him popular 😀. Anyway I hope you enjoy the meal!

You’ve probably passed me … feeding the ducks 🦆
It really is a lovely walk down the shoreline. I remember after the cockle pickers tragedy we stumbled upon a service being held for all the relatives of the victims who had obviously been flown over. It was a Buddhist ceremony led by monks and was really moving.. something that will stay with me forever. …
Anyway I hope you do try the pub.. you won’t be disappointed!!

The pub looks nice, just googled. May have a trip out there myself 👍

I loved Santorini! Been to lots of other Greek Islands too and there’s no where quite like them. I’ve always found the Greeks to be very friendly. Can’t beat sitting on the beach in the evening drinking a cold beer 🍺. Have a good time!

Travelling (driving) to friends in The Dordogne in April.
792 miles all together.
Will break it into 3 days. 327 to the Chunnel, stay in Folkstone overnight.
462 miles to friends house, one stay overnight, Le Mans or near.
I do all the driving. Done it a few times.
Lovely when you get into France and away from Calais area.
