Holidays 2024

Going to Rome on the Sunday after Fleetwood at home ( remarkable coincidence). 20th wedding anniversary gig. First visit. Any Rome advice most welcome.

Rhine cruise in May. Yes, another, love them.
In September got a trip to France. Versailles, Monets garden and that area.
Done both before but love them.
P.S. forgot to add 'If I'm still here'.😉

I wouldn't recommend Turkey at the moment, or China, Russia, Ukraine, Israel, lebanon, Syria, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Cyprus, Morocco, Egypt, Pakistan, Yemen, Ethiopia, Guyana, Venezuela, Burkina Faso, Sudan, the Red Sea, Somalia, Azerbaijan, Nigeria, Mali or Preston.
Why would anyone go to Preston?

New York in February. Probably Paris late Summer.
Lala, I've got a cousin in NY State, a little place called Leeds.
Been 3 times to USA and stayed with my Cousin.
One year they took us up the NE coast of NY State.
They have a holiday share in a place called Ogunquit, fantastic place where a river runs into the Atlantic.

It's an incredibly small city.
Everything you want to see, you'll get to (if you get what I mean)
The two places that I'd pre book for, if you really want to go are the Vatican and the Colosseum.
Don't eat in the main tourist areas, you'll find just as good places off the main drag, not pay as much and the food will be better👍🏻

You'll love it👍🏻 me 'n' Mrs have been 3 times

I'd do the Roman Forum (runs by the Colosseum) too. Got a guide who really brought it to life. Absolutely brilliant

Appreciate that Wizzer

Venice, Costa Rica, Gran Canaria, Italy/France, Portuguese Camino, Gran Canaria all lined up.
Carbon footprint much 🤣

Costa Rica is the number one destination for me when I finally have the cash to do it. It'll be a while until I'm no longer financially responsible for my kids so I'll have to wait 👍

I love this thread especially as we value our time in the Lakes as much the far off destinations.

I'll be getting over to Blackpool plenty. Still my favourite destination. I bet the sunsets have been beautiful recently.

We enjoyed Centre Parcs over New Year, it was quite the thing reflecting on the times we'd been, too many relatives no longer here and the passage of time as my kids turn into adults. 3 nights felt like 3 months. It was fab.

Got some caravan this in Primrose Valley over Easter.

MrsTSS is currently going through the Jet2 for summer. We are fancying Menorca but will be doing something in the med at the end of the summer break.

Unlikely to be able to get much more in, I'll have plenty of overnights in the UK through work - not much on the way of sightseeing sadly.

Wherever you go, stay safe and enjoy yourselves.

Canada in July. Vancouver through to Calgary via a number of places.

We are going to Vancouver Island at the beginning of July; visiting relatives. I somewhat regrettably thought end of may was to avoid due to play offs
Hope you both enjoy Alberta and British Columbia
We went to Canada in 2019, coach trip from Calgary to Banff (beautiful place) and Jasper, then the Rocky Mountaineer Train through the Rockies, then onwards by ship to Alaska. Visted Victoria on Vancouver Island, the weather seemed to improve by about 5 degrees just by taking the ferry to Vancouver Island. Excellent holiday 👍

Doing St Malo in Brittany (historical walled village) in June, and North West Scotland later in summer.

Went to St Malo inter railing in 1980 after watching England in Italy. Lovely place. Took a day trip over to Jersey while we were there.

Good to know, thanks
We're driving then ferry, with our French in laws (but they're leaving the speaking French to me, probably so they can take the piss)
I've visited them in Southern France when they lived there, but never been to Northern France
Looking forward to it even more due to it's history

Vancouver is a wonderful city. We did an Alaskan cruise to and from a few years back and then drove to Calgary. Beautiful scenery.
Anyway, I was born in Edmonton North London and so we took a flight to Edmonton, Alberta spent a couple of hours there, bought a t shirt and had a beer and flew back.

St malo walled City is absolutely stunning...some cracking restaurants to choose from

Eye-opening thread. Three holidays a year seems to be the norm. Five for some. I'm very envious of the expendable time and income. No bitterness implied-I'm just gobsmacked.
