How does Jordan Thorniley...

Critchley had to bring him back after leaving him out then Appleton had to bring him back after leaving him out, hopefully McCarthy will do the same

I rate Thorniley, but what is going on at the training ground that three managers in a row don’t seem to think he’s up to it?

It’s weird isn’t it. He never gives less than 100% on match day, they seemed to really like him at Oxford yet he goes right back to square one with every new manager, having to prove himself again.

My theory is that Jud is just a quiet lad that doesn't demand anything.

Managers look at the impact of dropping people on the squad vibe and the board room view and think 'oh, that Thorniley lad won't mind' and as he's a Larry signing, there's no great pressure to play him as there might be with more recent signings.

Tbf to Micky Appleton - for all his faults, he realised quite quickly that Jud was any good.

Yep he's also left footed so would give us more balance and he can at least pass the ball

I thought Nelson was dog shit to be honest and nearly gave away a pen
He was the highest rated Pool player on fotmob 7.0, won the most duels in the game 11, had the most number of touches 47.
The lowest rated player was Lavery 5.4.
I think you are being a bit harsh.

I don't get it either; yes he lacks pace, but he reads the game very well and he has hardly ever let us down. He is a quality defender, even at Championship level imo.

I agree with that but surely a new manager looks back at previous matches, things that have been written etc. Quiet as he seems, I’ve seen him come on as a sub and straight away start organising the players in a confident manner.
Also why has he apparently not been offered a new contract which according to Appleton they haven’t even started discussing.

I don't know. I like Jud. I remember seeing him on the tinpot cup and thinking "why has he been binned off?" and since then, he's made about 2 mistakes and had countless solid, determined performances

Most consistent player of the season yet not even offered a new contract and of course he doesn't fit the tall centre half MM loves.

It's a ** mess and has been for some time, The old chant "You don't know what you're doing" springs to mind.
All the managers have been odd signings and any hint of passion or heart seem to have been something that is the main thing not wanted. I could go on but I'll be accused of having an agenda again.

You clearly weren’t at the game you muppet. Thorniley is too slow and small for a centre half although does a job as such. Archer is rapid and the lad that got two goals is huge. Thorniley was not the answer today. The back three weren’t the problem in the first half…the midfield was the weakness.

How many games this season has it been said the midfield was the problem ??

Patino done little since we played PNE .. he needs resting

Nelson was done for their second,I think their guy megged him and missed the first header from the corner for the third.First game and all that so I’ll cut him some slack.

Nelson Goode and Thorniley at the back and Connolly and either Kenny or Trybull in front would be the best combo until Marv is back to replace Nelson. We could then use Lyons right and Husband or Thompson left .

Then it’s Bowler right and Rogers or CJ left of Jerry with Poveda in the no10.
