How ironic

That the incoming Appleton sacking will cost the club money

Hundreds of thousands of pounds of compo

The same fans calling for his head are the same people defending the board and our lack of spending in the summer on footballers who could have improved the team

It's a special type of simple
If they don't sack him, will you congratulate the Board for being brave and sticking with him or will you think it's because they are too tight to give him the compensation?

I don't think they should sack him btw, even though I found his appointment underwhelming.

He's a dead man walking in football terms

Will be gone by next weekend imo

Afraid to advise it is far far more complicated than that

It's over of the things I wanted us to get away from - shortermism. It's why I like having managers given longer term deals - it should give them the time to curate a team and a style of their choosing.

Chopping and changing doesn't give anyone a fair crack.

I got you're wrong, but let's see

I also hope I'm wrong but once the manager loses the fans like he did on Saturday its only a matter of time

The timing would be right if they are making a change tbh

Oh it's the right time to change it, but I'm not so sure it should be at the whim of supporters - especially as the vast majority have already paid for their season tickets and the walk-ons aren't coming in great numbers anyway.

I think the board will be eager to please the baying mob

The board aren't stupid & they'll know what is happening morale wise in the dressing room, unlike us just guessing & that's the only reason I'd get rid. Otherwise give him until February & get a couple of decent players in by whatever means.

Why would he be gone by next weekend when all and sundry are on their hols unless getting a call up?
If you going to get rid today or tomorrow would have been the day before MA jets off.

To be honest I actually think they are stupid

Appoint Appleton who no fcuker wanted then fail to support him in the window meaning we have gaping holes in the squad

Now they will sack him because a few hundred idiots sung against him when we lost a match with 10 men with no fit defenders on the bench

Not eager enough to sack BSB

But you are right, he's on his way, sadly.

And the big question is will he be told before he carries out interviews to be told he was sacked 2 days earlier.

Think it's stupid? That's what happened to McP, in fact he was working on a signing after he was 'not' sacked'.

It took the combined ingredients of idiocy, ineptitude and a total disengagement for this farce to reach the full apex of incredulous disaster

It really is ludicrous that the club finds itself in this position

Bottom 3 with a manager that most fans hate and a squad of squad of crocked players and players that aren't ours

But what they wouldn't want is to sack him when there no real gain to announcing it now without a replacement.

As like last time the spotlight is then on their search.

If it was to be done they'd already have lined it up and now be along the way with it, ideally they might want to announce him leaving and a new man taking over ot long after, when its all already tied up.

But I doubt he's leaving, got a feeling they will give him a bit more time and let it die down over the world cup.

Then again on the other hand when fans have 'turned' its difficult to come back.

But have fans actually turned, many have but had those feeling anyway, we still supported the team so it's not like its a dreadful atmosphere.

So if he wins games still a chance to turn it around, maybe.

Fuck knows.

All the contributions on here are creating more problems for our club. Looking forward to another post on here regarding Appleton.
Which simpleton will come up with the next stunning post.
Dont worry, got a few more ideas.

I think it’s best for people to get it out their system now, have the break, our best hope is maybe England have an absolute stinker and Southgate gets potted, people let all that sacking anger out on him and Appleton is welcomed back with Appleton in chants.

It's possible.

I only meant they aren't stupid re the feeling in the dressing room. I don't really know enough about the internal workings of Bfc, as nothing ever gets out, it's top secret. But I'll agree re-hiring MA went down like a lead balloon & that in itself has caused problems. They should stick with him having made the decision in the first place.

Fans haven't "turned" a few hundred thick cunts sang a foolish and totally incalled for chant given the circumstances.

Appy still has support from many fans.

Critch wasn't liked by all, far from it, ey @Philbfctrois ?

I certainly aren’t hope the board aren’t considering the fans views if they are reviewing the managers positions. Most football fans are clueless, know nothing about football history, running a business, managing people etc. They simply react from one result to the next.
The board need to fully support the manager, and deliver what he needs to have a better 2nd half of the season.
It’s right that fans are consulted with on a range of topics, but never firing and hiring managers

I don’t think they’ll pot him yet.

Mansford was pretty key in appointing him as I don’t think he gets the gig without his connection. If he gets the bullet it makes him look shit and he then has to get a new Manager. Pressure firmly on, can’t f that one up as well.

After his last two searches I don’t think he’ll be keen on that until he has to as they’ve been pretty shambolic.

He’ll want to protect himself. Decent salary to look after.

He’ll be praying he comes good after the WC.

I also think there’s a condescending view and disdain towards an element of the fanbase. It’s shone through in those headmaster style letters. They’ll dismiss the Wigan chanting for now.

Aren't many around to lose, but hope Grimmy doesn't jump ship in January if this is the case
He's been let down by Apples, if he thinks Maxy is better than Grimmy his judgement is even worse than I suspected and that appears to be the case, Maxy was once more culpable on Saturday in conceding direct from a corner, I wouldn't expect a decent 14 year old school keeper to let that happen.

As for Appleton, his use of subs is alarmingly puzzling and I'd love to find out if his motivational skills and his tactical nous stand up to scrutiny, at the moment it's questionable to put it mildly.

As for the club giving him a four year contract, I really hope they inserted some get out clauses there because that beggars belief.

This fanbase if it does exist should understand the reality of the situation and support all at BFC. There is no respect shown to Appleton, why
because he's a nobber just like Michael Jackson Tony Ellis etc etc ? On Saturday I looked at the players at the end of the game, they had given everything, some of the hate coming from the 'baying mob' was sad to see.

I tend to agree, although if that’s the boards thinking, I doubt they’d want to spend on players he wants in January if they have doubts.

The fans chanted very positively for 88 minutes and a frustrating late winner saw the Sacked chant.

I'm not sure it's enough to say he's lost the fanbase.
I don't think he's ever had the fanbase, the atmosphere at games has fell off a cliff in comparison to last year and its only getting worse with poor results.

He has a hill to climb as it was, top that with anti-Appleton chants at the last game I think it's too large a task to turn fan opinion round now.

When does the Spain trip depart?

Surely it would make no sense to go there without a manager? If the idea is rest, bonding and working on a couple of things then we might as well send them to Cleethorpes with a bucket and spade. So we would have to have a replacement in post.

Or equally, what's the point in MA going with the team then getting potted when they return?

So I don't see any immediate board reaction to all this, and as someone who subscribes to TSs theory of longevity above, I hope that's the case.

If the board have already made up their minds to sack him then surely it’s going to happen before any trip abroad?

Why delay the inevitable? It would be just barmy. 🤷‍♂️

Having said that it’s now Tuesday so if he was going I’d have thought it would have been yesterday so I’am not convinced now it’s happening.

You are basically saying that Mansford behaves like a politician Kebab.

He's certainly got the right Christian name to be one: Bullshit

Nah. It’s about correcting a massive mistake. They can afford it

Need to agree a replacement first.. they have time.
