How many games should Pro footballers play?

Lots of talk about us playing 2 games a week for the next few weeks, out of interest, how many games do you think pro footballers should be able to play over a 4 week period? I'd say 6 is not unreasonable and with the squad we have and a bit of rotation, I can't see why we don't have enough to get through this period. Just a shame that we have Lavery and Kouassi out at such a crucial time.

But that's not at the pace and intensity of a professional game, nor are we including the training regime of these athletes
Thats my point, 6 days a week they train, & have the best physio & nutrition etc... & as you say they are professional athletes, they get paid to do what we all dream of... Easy life 😂 🍊 & I disagree the level I played at was pretty intense.

It’s not just about playing 6 games..it’s where in the country they are..some teams will be lucky and be quite near most of the teams who they play…some could be up and down the whole country inc long and late travel and all that…it’s not like playing 6 games in the local leagues when you were a kid.

I used to play football twice a week, squash 2 or 3 times a week and a couple of rounds of golf, Tennis and Cricket in the summer and still drink several pints afterwards, they're all big soft arses these days, what about the likes of Suddick, Burns, AInscow etc? They played as many games and there was only one sub then on pitches that were like quagmires, I get fed up with hearing about how many games they have. They get bloody well paid and they should be able to cope easily. Bunch of soft gets!

And as for having to train and then travel to away games, they hardly have to get on a bus and a train do they? They go up the day before, have a night in a hotel, get everything on a plate and get all the right training and physio, medical care etc., Don't give me this "it's hard bollocks, is it fuckery!

6 games in 7 days. 90 minutes work per day with a 15 minute break inbetween (for a cheeky butty and a fag) for several thousand pounds per week is not a bad hourly return. They can then have Sunday's off to go on the razz.

You forgot to mention the big wet heavy leather ball with laces and the boots made out of 1 inch thick hard leather…not to mention the kit that weighed a ton when wet……I wonder if in those days you had supporters who knew feck all wanting the centre forward subbed who then went onto score twice?

I was going to mention that, the ball weighs nothing now and what about no hair dryers in the changing rooms? Jumpers for goalposts.

I mean what kind of idiot would want, say, Jordan Rhodes subbed last Saturday, I mean there must be some right divvies about!

You sound like you were a primed athlete, the game has changed now from our era, whether for the better or worse who knows, they will get plenty of rest between games and i think he will swap and change a bit over the next 2-3 weeks to try and keep people fresh.
