Fair enough I watched the match on Dodgy stick and felt frustrated too, but in all fairness you haven’t responded directly to my O/P

Fans have travelled a long way to go to the last two away games. The performances against Cambridge and today at Burton were both embarrassing.

Fans give up time and money to follow the club and have a right to voice their displeasure at the absolute shite we’ve been served up on the road for 90% of this season.

The blame falls at the manager and the players he’s selected. I think Sadler has done a decent job in supporting Critchley in the summer. Norburn and Pennington were sort after from many clubs in our division, we spent a lot of money (undisclosed but rumoured to be a million) on Joseph. Dembele and Rhodes two very good loans. I dunno how anyone can have a dig at Sadler on the transfer front

Grow up you silly boy

We don't need to appoint a manager before Friday, it's not manager deadline day. Dobbie interim until we can sort out John Eustace to be full time manager.
People pay their hard earned to travel and watch that ponderous shite. It's not as if it's a one off away from home. Burton have won one in nine and are -14 GD, we didn't have a shot on goal.
Front foot football my arse, he's too stubborn to admit the formation doesn't suit the players he has and can't change.
anything when we go behind away.
About time some of these Assistants, Football Directors, Owners, had the bolllocks to get a grip of NC.
Nobody could make a worse job of managing an away game, unless it's a top team that gives us the chance to hit em on the break. Shit teams live to play against us.

They are definitely concerning, but is sacking the manager & owner who have assembled a pretty good set of players the answer?

Please read my O/P
What makes you think we have ‘a good set of players’ - they aren’t, they are ver6 average, won’t go up and the bad results don’t seem to hurt them anyway near as much as us

Agreed. And the owner should be expecting his Head Coach to get a lot more out of this squad. canno blame the signings made; we can blame the managing of them.

Time and time again cringeworthy Critchley has proven he's unable to get the best out of his team with shocking selections and tactics. It's patently obviously there is something wrong in the dressing room. I'm guessing Kenny and Marv want out? I'm going out on a limb too guessing Norburn has upset things too we look really shaky every time he plays (and yes he had 1 decent game last week).

If Sadler sacks Critchley I would actually be very concerned because what will we end up with next? His previous appointments have been naive, sentimental and without any sense. Critchley was diabolical in his 2 roles after he snaked out on us. Don't even go there with Grayson, Appleton and Mccarthy. Then we had his Billy Big Bollocks pals in the boardroom who've been disastrous!

The club is a shambles.

How can it not be concerning that we haven't won a single away game against a team below 7th, in seven attempts?
This squad of players is significantly underperforming. We should never have gone back for yet another former manager. At this point, it wouldn't surprise me if we re-appointed Ollie next, seeing as the only managers that exist in the minds of our board are one's that have been here before. We must have the narrowest, most closed minds of any boardroom in the country. They have the best interest of our club at heart, but have a very limited knowledge of football unfortunately. It's also funny that they always consider unemployed people to be the absolute best option, and managers who haven't been sacked aren't quite as good. Strange that.

The main problem I have with Critchley, and I said this when he was re-appointed, was his choice of assistants Tweedle-Dum and Tweedle-Dee. We have seen in game after game his naivety when it comes to reading a game and changing things early enough. An experienced Assistant like Calderwood or McCall was what we needed not these two chumps who don't actually seem to do anything apart from look like two nodding dogs.

I would love to know what was said or not said at half-time. Forget about tactics or formations sometimes players need a rocket up the arse. Critchley should have ripped into them and got some sort of reaction but there was little evidence of that. I don't think he is even capable or has the personality to carry it off. Two key players, Dougall and Ekpiteta not figuring at all? He needs a "rest" or is it personal issues? FFS these are L1 professional football players not overpaid prima donnas. Does Critchley avoid confrontations? Does he have the man-management skills to deal with players who stand up to him? I am beginning to wonder.

The Chairman has done everything in his power to deliver the players that are good enough to be at least challenging for promotion.
I think the manager needs a rethink of his tactics or promotion will be a pipe dream.

8th and 7pts off the top 6 having played more games than most is reason alone for Critchley to be under pressure. Add to that our awful away form and I am not surprised one bit that a section of our supporters are questioning the manager, it's not like we are even a good side to watch, we are as dull as ditch water. I can honestly see another defeat at Port Vale and being 10pts adrift. It was made pretty clear our ambitions were for promotion, that isn't going to happen. If Rhodes does go back we are a mid table team at best. January will show us all we need to know about Sadler, does he back his man or accept L1 mediocrity?

You underestimate me Mosser “Freedom Of Speech Is A Divine Right” and you haven’t answered my O/P either.

I’ll happily stand up in front of the coach I’m running on Friday & ask the same.
There’s no way you would have got on our coach after the match yesterday and told anyone to shut up moaning or fcuk off….. you would have been knocked back off it, free speech or not.
It’s irrelevant what you do with your own coach but are you going to tell what you have posted above before you set off???

Also I wouldn’t appoint anyone before Friday, that would be knee jerk, I would put Dobbie in as interim manager and advertise the job nationally and internationally

Yesterday was another day when the passing was slow, behind people and when we got to positions to put the ball in, the delivery was woeful.

The goal conceded was a shocker, with a failure to close down out wide and a whole series of hesitancy from Connolly, Grimshaw and even their forward, resulting in a simple cross going into the far corner.

All in all, a day of no redeeming features other than a run or two from Dembele.

Far too many players had an off day, unable to do simple things, wasting what opportunities we had. I can't understand, for example, how so many players can't get the ball past the first man, but when those same players shoot, the ball sails over the top. A lack of composure in key moments.

We huffed and puffed, but once they had something to defend, that's exactly what they did, and we weren't good enough to break them down.

A bad day. Need to win at Vale Psrk, somewhere we don't normally do well.

So a typical away performance then.

Critchley out.

I’m sat here thinking both possible events would be a quality watch.

Poor bastards on a Friday night after 25 texts about what time to set off, the rules and checking you’ve not got an FY4 postcode get told what they can and can’t talk about pre & post match. North Korea away. Bus 2 is now not RUNNING!!! Somebody said Critchley is too SOFT!!! This will not be tolerated on POULTON buses!!!!!!!!!

You have to laugh.

We’ve got

1/ The most prolific striker in the league
2/ One of the biggest talents in the league
3/ A squad that has a significant amount of Championship experience

And yet

1/ Two of our best players aren’t being selected with no explanation as to why
2/ We are seemingly unable to beat anyone in the bottom half of the league away from home
3/ We repeatedly play games without having a shot on target - particularly when playing sides who you’d best describe as ‘ struggling ‘
4/ We have no plan B for dealing with 3/ above
5/ We rarely play the best 11 available keeping certain players in the team whatever and leaving others on the bench with no apparent rhyme or reason
6/ We are unable to put a run together - only winning back to back twice as I recall

What a horlicks of a season so far

100% correct they look so lethargic with little effort, like a stroll in the park I think Critchley is a very vindictive person who has had one good season in his managerial career

If Sadler wants us to be a mid to lower table league 1 side then Critchley’s the man for the job. It was a lazy appointment and if he keeps him all season we will end up about 14th and next season even lower. Once he has the balls to admit he was wrong and does pot him, Critchley will return to coaching youngsters for an EPL team, I can’t see him managing again.

The Chairman has done everything in his power to deliver the players that are good enough to be at least challenging for promotion.

It’s already a pipe dream. We need to go on a helluva run and we won’t, cos we can’t string more than two wins together because unfortunately we’re crap away from home and midweek.

If there were 46 home games on a Saturday we’d be top 4

A lot to think about there Tim. And a couple of things stick out to me, either the squad isn't what we think it is or the coach is getting it badly wrong in how he sets up.

A couple of things that have consistently stuck out to me;

1) What is our 'style' of play? I don't mean the system, but where/how do we look to create chances and score goals as our Plan A? I honestly couldn't tell you, because the inverted wide players rarely create the chances as far as I can tell.

2) We have plenty of players who look like they have the skills and strengths to be effective, but seem to consistently deploy them in positions and systems that totally negate their strengths. CJ is an obvious one, but I'd also say we have 2 or 3 forwards who would score goals regularly at this level IF we set up in a manner that got balls into the box or players in behind the opposition back line. Tactics that we never really seem to employ because (so-called) weaker teams are more than happy to sit deep.

3) The club would benefit from more honesty around certain players. Kenny was storming it before he was 'rested'. It's obvious to all what's happening, just be up front about it and control the situation rather than let the rumour mill spill out of control. Same goes for Gabriel. He's either a crock who needs to removed from all plans or he's too expensive for us to play regularly. We all know he's miles better than the other full backs if fully fit.

100% agree, the buck stops at the managers door, he's too stubborn/pig headed to admit his tactics/formation doesn't work with the playing staff we have, like others, I didn't want him back here, haven't seen anything from his style of play to change my mind.

Seriously, some good points there, along with points made by others in the cold light of day. Something is very wrong in our management set up this season, carrying on from last season's debacle. We've all been around long enough to see that.

Was thinking about this last week after the Knobbers were going into meltdown over Ryan Lowe’s brand and identity shouts.

Got me thinking what’s ours?

I would say it’s get the ball wide by making a series of passes along the back line (this completely screwed our best actual ‘defender’ for numerous games) to then get 2 wing backs (who aren’t wing backs) into the last 3rd. The ones on the left don’t try and take anyone on, but try to play a neat pattern with Carey or Husband to then cross on their right foot as their left is the weakest. On the right, the ball is fed into Dembele to release CJ who will look to get to the byline to pull it back or across the goal for Rhodes or the other striker. This can work well if the wing back doesn’t trip himself up or leave his Adidas Crowdfinders in the dressing room and just wear his Nike boots.

When this doesn’t work against teams who sit-in, or as the modern laptop crew (Brunskill and co) call a “low block”, we then start pumping long diagonals or straight balls from Husband to strikers who aren’t great in the air or pass sideways holding onto the ball without having the 1st thought of going forwards.

At home we’ll be ok doing this, but if teams sit back and get amongst us, getting physical and a few dark arts we’re absolutely clueless.
Northampton highlighted this perfectly and Cambridge just copied the model.

That’s how I see it.

I don’t want the coach gone as don’t want to turn into Watford but I’m struggling to work out how he’s not worked this out yet. However, it took him till after the 1st half farce at Codland to work out Dembele has to start (even though at Bolton he didn’t have him with 2 strikers) so maybe he’ll suss on soon enough 💪🏽

Another thatched driven look at me post.
Stick to arranging coaches & captain birdseye boat trips with your lists of do's & don'ts. But please don't come on here demanding die hard, frustrated BFC supporters to ** grow a pair.
I'd put that in the same annoying camp as give your head a wobble if other posters have a difference of opinion to you. Why you drag SS into your tear jerking rant god only knows. Vary few posts call Simon, maybe question his managerial appointments at worst. So in summary no one should question Critchley's pig headed stance of formation or lack of nouse to tweak or change set ups during a game because it might upset you & put you off your cheese & biscuits.
See how easy it is to post minus emojis, bold, italic or sign my name coz I'm that important.

with regards to your opening line don't think it's an either/or, think its both. Otherwise two great posts from you and TAM.

For me it's now time Critchley is held accountable for his words, his team selections, formations etc. Too many games now certainly away from home where what we are seeing is simply not acceptable. I think it's getting very close now where if we continue to perform as inconsistently bad as we are doing then the crowd really are gonna turn on him. And probably rightly so.
