I hope it was worth it

Would it not have been possible to take less for Bowler but have him back on loan for a season and pay more for Lyons and have him earlier? I suppose no one knows the answer but it would have been a good compromise.

Just ignoring Bowler and his impact for the mo, the model, as I understand it, was to bring players on, sell them for decent money and then start again. So with a 5m windfall kitty, the model should produce signings of 2/3 players of around the 1.5m mark. This leaves money over and affords the possibility of selling them in a 'different market' with bigger profits and then the model continues.....

So losing a player like Bowler for no real team strengthening comes with a massive risk. Potentially losing 8m to gain 4. Whilst I like the loans, they don't back up the model and in the case of Bowlers replacement isn't really match fit enough.

Personally, I think we'll be fine and thank God some PL managers trust MA.

Perhaps January will see the model (sorry for overuse of the word) back on track. It needs to as otherwise next summer is going to be a mare.
Its a great theory from BB and the board..but unfortunately 1.5m players want championship wages which we can’t/won’t pay.., so the idea doesn’t really work imo..

clueless again. I suppose you think Bowler when he signed for Forest wouldn't have had a clue about him being loaned out , yet somehow the deal to sign him and to loan him to Olympiakos all happened within 24 hours. Of course, he knew what the deal was and for what was reputedly four or five times his current wage why should he not have a year out in Greece.

We all have our opinions on players and we all have our favourites but to post such disparaging remarks is rather sad and pathetic.
Yes ,we all have our opinions and because that Phili geezer decided to start his usual anti Blackpool propaganda after a poor performance , he's opened up a can of worms . He must have been waiting for a game like Hulls so he can have a go at Blackpools correct decision to sell. How thick would he have looked if he had started this post after the Watford or Sheffield games . I have had a go at 1 ex player . He makes it a habit of having a go at our club . So give your head a shake and look at the bigger picture . Oh and I see that he is the only like at this moment for your above comment.

whether you like phils opinion or not he usually backs up his points with reason. And that's even if you don't agree with them. And I haven't commented on the rights or wrongs of Bowler leaving/going. I've simply picked up on your disparaging remarks about a player who brought a great deal of please to the majority of our fanbase. And that's why it is so hard to fathom your hatred of him.

I am 1 of the few that recognise him for what he is. I am allowed an opinion and post that opinion without having personal criticism and I don't see any back up about this post from Phil as I said he likes to put down the club regularly.

my only real disagreement with you is to do with your remarks about Bowler.

Nonsense he was under contract the club chose to sell him
True but if we kept him , Would he have signed a new contract when we can't afford to pay what PL clubs can ? NO. So he would have gone for free at end of season . Not ideal but you can understand the clubs thinking .. I thought we should have kept him until jan window , Ok we'd prob not get as much in January but it would've give us time to line up suitable replacement ,

Bowler must be hating it out there. Putting myself in his shoes, regardless of the £ it must be isolating and unenjoyable - even more so if he isn’t playing.

Loan him back to us Forest.

I said months ago that the recruitment team weren't fit for purpose and got slated by certain people.
"Hi Simon, we can get £4m for Josh. Have we got a replacement lined up?Yeah, don't worry,it's sorted"
Ok go for it"

No idea but plausible
Like you say, we have no idea.
If we were a club that 4 million didn't matter to I would agree, keep him for the season and let him go for nothing, but we aren't a wealthy club are we?

No.
Denying Bowler the opportunity to triple his wages and ending up with a player who is inwardly seething for the rest of the season can't be right and Phil knows that surely.
Plus...it goes against our stated business plan of developing players and selling on.
Plus...he was over worked as our main/only outlet last season and faded badly for the last few games.
Don't get me wrong I'd have him back if it suited both parties but there would be a big difference between a highly motivated Josh playing to put himself in the shop window as he was last season and a slightly disengaged Josh unhappy he didn't get his big money move.
To try and kid ourselves otherwise is naive in my opinion.
