I think he will be sacked over the next couple of weeks

What would be the point of sacking him now? We've got a Christmas schedule coming up
If they are going to sack him, now would be the right time imho. Use the break to find the next manager, gives them time with the players before the fixtures start up again, and time to assess the squad before the Jan transfer window.

Fans are split now , no matter how well he does some fans are never going to warm to him , but he took over a hard working bunch of players , he didn’t mess about getting dale out on loan James out on loan , and we let our most experienced player in keogh leave who I believe would of been a big influence in the dressing room, he doesn’t seem to fancy garbutt or husband and he brought in Thompson who is a liability at times the loans signing have been poor and not improved the team he plays Yates out of position and Madine isolated on his own , our full backs don’t over lap so lack of options down the wings and he takes out grimshaw for maxwell who can’t catch or command his box , the players look disjointed at times he obviously doesn’t rate anyone on the bench yesterday as he kept madine on when we were crying out for pace to try and counter attack to take away the pressure and the players must be told not to press and defend space instead, he is clueless, I don’t think the players are happy either especially Yates , when this happens performances drop just look at middlesboro and when most clubs get a new manager with same players they always seem to improve that’s why we need to change now , when he took over Lincoln they had got promoted only losing 7 games in 46 and won 4 of the first 7 in league one before the crowley brothers left , they were a team on the up and in a good position, in comes apples and they finish just above relegation only winning 8 out of the 39 games he was in charge of that season , that tells me the players either turned shit overnight or didn’t like Appleton or his formation, the following season he let 21 players leave so he turned a solid group off players into a team that didn’t want to play for him we need to get rid now and get the feel good factor back at the club

Bullshit won't want to take any blame of the cluster fuck that he's helped create

So Appleton will be the fall guy

Losing the fans is massive and whilst I don't think he deserves the sack or the abuse he's been getting I think he will be gone

Shame as some of the football has been decent in spells but fundamentally the gaping holes in our squad has caused this poor run of form

Some of the names mentioned as a possible replacement have been ridiculous

Somebody like Michael Jackson or Michael Flynn would probably be more like the type of guy we can attract
The geezer’s not a good enough manager for this level Pip. Been proven before, looks like it’ll be proven again. The board aren’t without blame on this (a) for hiring him and (b) for the haphazard transfer policy, but they can’t be held accountable for his moody tactics and general malaise in performances.
We’ve had far more performances that have been woeful compared to the few ones that have been good. Although doesn’t fit in with your argument.
The guy is so so stubborn and set in his ways, we’ll be relegated before Easter if he stays.

I don’t think he’s to blame but what is happening is what I feared would happen as soon as he had a run like the team have just had, the vultures have been circling since He was appointed and because of the mistakes of others he will be the fall guy. They made the wrong choice with Grayson, it turned out they made the wrong choice with Quitchley and Appleton was the wrong choice because of how a section of supporters felt about him.

Just because he bought the club, sorted out a lot of the shit the stains had done doesn’t mean he has the first clue about who should be managing our football club or who should be trusted as board members. Appletons position is now pretty much untenable and he will be gone soon, so Sadler has to choose someone again and he could easily make another poor choice, or make a good choice but not back him. Running and owning a football club isn’t easy and owning and running one that you actually support might give you some kudos for a while but it doesn’t guarantee you’ll be any good at it.

I think you got one word wrong “very” soon !

Thank god for gardeners eh !

The problem is that some fans and the number is growing didn't want him didn't like him and weren't willing to get him a chance

When fans behave like yesterday the board have to act
To be honest i don’t like him,i certainly didn’t want him,but I’m of the opinion if you don’t give a new manager time to create his own team then you’re going nowhere. So for me the board need to back him in January and we see what transpires.

Yeah he went into Lincoln and ran it as a going concern until he could start to change the squad. They brought him in to do a cheapo rebuild and lower the wage bill and age of the team after the Cowley's left and when Covid hit. Then he took them to the league one play off final. They pushed hard for a top two finish but for getting hit by a load of injuries and tailing off.

We could be set for something similar here but everyone is still in the very early stages of recognising and accepting it, we shall see. Current players might not like having to work through it but also most of them won't be around next year and those who will look like they'll find a level in L1.

It was never going to take much for the fans to turn when you appoint an unpopular manager in the first place.

All of what is happening now was inevitable once they appointed him and then proceeded to fail to land any of our main transfer targets. I'm not sure we will sack him, but not many managers survive these days on poor runs like this. If we lose our next one, five straight defeats is almost always a signal for a managerial change. And we'll have wasted six months because the board didn't listen to the fans, and then arsed around in the transfer market for three months.

Totally avoidable.

How did they make the wrong choice with Critchley, he couldn't have done any more with what we had.

Got us promoted first season and kept us up the season after comfortably.

Thats massively the right choice, yes he left eventually in poor circumstances but what he did cannot be undone.

Weird thought process to say he was the wrong choice, can't imagine what would have happened if they got it right 🙄

I just think it's bullshit... take ANY team in the world, give them 11 injuries/suspensions/illnesses from their 25 man squad, and they are inevitably going to be shit/knackered/not able to play to their full potential for 90 minutes 3 times a week.

He took over a in form Lincoln with the same players who had only lost 10 of there last 56 games and nearly got them relegated he got rid of 21 players and got players in who wouldn’t question him as they were all new his loan signings was the difference and they finished 5 the following season without the same loan signing they finished near the bottom, he left Oxford to become assistant manager at Leicester just like critchley left us , 4 yr contact to a guy that’s not stayed at any club for 4 yrs doesn’t make sense

I’d be very surprised if he was sacked, given the current circumstances. He’s got to be given time. When players start returning hopefully things will get better and given the fickle nature of fans, he’ll start to win them over. It was only a few games ago that fans were chanting his name - positively!!

With bullshit’s track record, we will sack him at 10pm the night we have our first game back.

Guys a clueless idiot.

Will he be sacked?
Remember he's on a four year contract and it would cost the club dearly to sack him.
Having said the, I think that IF he's going to be sacked, NOW is the time.
Get a new manager in very quickly so he has the next month to get organised and to know the players.

It all depends what the club want to achieve this season. I think sacking him now will give us a chance of recovering and not getting cut adrift. If they decide to stick with him, then I feel that the board are willing to risk relegation, but that is financially damaging too.

For me we need to get the fans back on side, and therefore a change in management is required now. We are one of only 2 teams in the bottom half of the table who haven't changed manager yet and we are effectively bottom, but still in touching distance as it is. I'm not saying that just because others have changed that we should follow, but it demonstrates that other clubs are not prepared to go down to league one, which is a tough league to get out of. Hopefully our board feel the same.

Our players need the fans, and currently we are suffering and it's reflected in the flat atmosphere at home in the last few games.

I think he should be saked
If we get the right team in charge we could get a new manager bounce.
But can we really let Mansford have any part in new manager team appiontment.

He is going no where, Simon and Brett have gone all in on him and will give him at least the next transfer window. There is loads of work to throughout the squad and I just hope things are in place to move quickly.

If Appleton gets sacked in the next couple of weeks , I will not be buying a season ticket next year . This is not because I am an Appleton lover ,in fact I didn't want him . The reason for this is because if Simon Sadler gives in to gobshite power rather then taking into account the way our players have been injured and getting sent off especially Marvin . The manager should never have been blamed for most of whats been happening on the pitch and if he is sacked ,it should be when he has a near full squad available and still lose every game.

Appleton won't be sacked before or whilst the World cup is on. I don't see him being sacked after that unless we lose the first 2-3 games after the break - then I think there's a chance, otherwise, if he picks up a couple of decent results, I think he'll be given January. If it's still poor then, he's probably not going to last until the end of the season.

Not sure why some put demands on not renewing etc, as pool fans we should be going regardless.

If he's there I'll go, if he isn't and its someone new i'll go.

Why wouldn't you back someone new.

He might not be giving into fans, they might have had minimum requirements from the games we had left.

But also he might think if we don't have fans onside we won't survive, which might be valid.

Birmingham at home won't be easy as they're a different side to last year.
The next two games after that are away against teams around us at the bottom ...Cardiff and Hull. Lose all of those and I can't see how they can or will keep him on.

Oh come on. Join the real world. There's no sympathy in football for managers regardless of injuries, Board decisions or anything else. MA isn't some sort of charity. Even he must understand that.
I might agree (just) that he should stay if I was confident that he could do what is necessary in the January window, with whatever resources the Board give him. But I'm not. I think he needs to go now, so a new manager can be found during the break, and he can decide during the December games what needs to be done during the January window, hopefully with the full support of the Board.
Worst nightmare is that MA stays, does whatever he can during the window but to no effect. The Board then panics, too late, and gets rid of him in February. Someone new then has to be brought in, get up to speed, get to know the squad and decide what needs to be done, leaving only ten games, possibly less, to bail us out of the shit. A nearly impossible job.
It's a no brainer as far as I'm concerned. We need a change now.

Its very unlikely that Appleton would be sacked for what has happened over the last few games . So from this I am probably making an empty threat ,but I am sick of hearing Blackpool fans having a go at a Bloke that is doing his best under unbelievable bad luck . I just feel his sacking would be so in just that there is no way I would fork out £400 to anything as unfair as this. I stopped when the Oystons were shafting us all and I would do it again.

If the team carries on losing after we get most of our squad back I would agree with you . If he is sacked now ,after the way the players have been carded injured and sick . I think that I will save myself £800 next year by myself and my son watching Prem football on TV instead of going to watch my club shaft a bloke for doing his best under terrible luck ,while gobby pool fans who are obviously not watching the games jump on the bandwagon.

I didnt want him but I didn't conduct the interviews so it's not a particularly well considered view.
Whether or not I like him is of no consequence. The better he does the more I will like him and vica versa.
I wouldn't sack though before the end of the season. If we get relegated that would be the time to say goodbye. Probably the cheapest option as well as I'm sure there will be a relegation clause in his contract.

Personally I think Appleton should be given time and a transfer window where the playing side is strengthened…
But if he’s getting sacked then surely bullshit Ben has gotta go as well as it was his lazy/ jobs for the boys appointment ?…

I've not called for him to go, tough hand etc but made mistakes too. But can see we'll probably never be all we can be with him here and fans against him, he's lost loads of them.

But also I can see how it might work out should he go, sometimes clubs need that lift, we won't survive without fans on side.

But who comes in.

He's survived upto now so seems like he could be ok and let it all die down over the break, or they could be looking and not wanting a public pursuit.

I’d be surprised if he goes.

Like some have said. Who would want to take the helms of a possible relegated club. Tough ask.

Also everyone is saying we need players in, which we do. So which players would come here with us in the bottom 3 unless it’s for the usual £££’s.

Lastly, fans chirping on about managers being passionate really pees me off. Would we be bothered about that if we were top half?
Are they missing the fist pumps off Critchley? If that was your highlight on the game/day then all I can say is oh dear.

He will go and it will cost money the club hasn't got all because of a few idiotic fans

I actually think he will be gone by next weekend

He won't either walk or be fired
Dyche was being touted to replace NC; couldn't afford him then and he's hardly likely to be interested now

I just can’t see enough good reasons to keep him.
we are in bottom 3.
looks like he can’t motivate players or fans

what loans hav REALLY worked ?
fans didn’t want him in first place.

why in the name of goodness would we keep him ???

If he is given a chance to turn things round then he can win the fans back . He has a 4 year contract ,it would be a small fortune to get rid now . So I don't see the point in talking about a replacement until he is given more time and better luck. The fans what are asking for his head at this stage need to give their heads a wobble or they are nobbers on this site.
