Ince on the defeat to Blackpool
"I thought we were excellent in the second half. Things didn’t really drop for us but anyone was watching that today they would’ve said that we deserved something from the game, if not won it. It’s hard to take positives when you lose but I took a lot of them. We just have to be competitive; we will win games and we will lose games. We were passive in the first 10-15 minutes and then we conceded a silly goal. Joe makes a great save; we don’t get the second ball and we’re 1-0 down. Last year we probably would’ve capitulated, but we didn’t and if anyone was going to win that game it would’ve been us. The system worked well, we got so much joy out of it. We caused Blackpool a lot of problems.
Sometimes we need to analyse what we see. Yids playing right-sided centre-half, Junior playing right-wing-back, a young kid at left-wing-back. The performance was encouraging for me. sometimes we look at the result and be mopey, but I said to the lads if you perform like that for the next 45 minutes, I’ll be happy. I’m proud of them.
Ince on injuries
Mamadou has trained with Porto B so he’ll be ready to come in, Scott Dann will be on the grass but could be two or three weeks away, Lucas could be two or three weeks away, Hutch could be two or three weeks away. It could be four weeks before we see a team gel. Femi pulled his hamstring and could be six to eight weeks. We go again, I don’t want to be too downbeat about it. What you see here today is what you’re going to get next week.
Ince on Naby Sarr and potential incomings
He's not done a lot with the team, he’s been alright with his PT but it’s a different type of energy, so he wouldn’t have been ready for today. Maybe next week or the week after.

The left-backs we're looking at are either on loan or not in contract. You don’t want 10 loan players as you lose the spirit and the core of what we showed today. Financially we can’t do a lot, we’re fishing from the bottom of the pond. Nesta is still young and learning so he’ll grow. We need a left-back, a midfielder and a striker, but maybe I’m being greedy."

Reading that the only person who's been "on the grass" is old bog eyes. Talk about deluded.

if they perform like that for the next 45 minutes!?!?!? We were the better side by a country mile, we tired and sat too deep second half but that can happen in the first game of the season UTMP

I got the feeling that if they had scored in that second half they would have looked more likely to get a winner

They had a lot of the ball second half and it pinged round our area a few times, but did they actually have a shot on target?

Said in the stand, Ince will say we deserved something. Partly because it's what managers like him always say, and partly because it was obvious from how high he bounced his water bottle after a ball travelled through our area.

On another day we could have had a hatful TBH....It's all well and good talking about "if they had scored"... We had plenty of very good chances go begging to put the game out of sight.

Ifs, buts and maybes don't win games
We were under a fair bit of pressure in the second half couldn't see a way out of relieving it myself,If Bowler would have scored there wouldn't have been a problem.Anyway Ifs, buts and maybes provide good talking points in any game of football

Bowler should have scored.... Bowlers pass to Theo should have been a goal, Lavery's one on one could have been better, Madines header should have been put away... We had them under the cosh for long periods early on...

Yes... we probably invited a bit of pressure, but by and large they didn't make anything of it.... On the balance of actual proper chances as opposed to "pressure" which basically means we let them have bit of the ball in our half, then we were well on top.

Thought it was rather childish that some of our supporters decided to boo Tom Ince today totally uncalled for. 👎
I must admit, I can be a bit sensitive when it comes to chanting and I've said I don't like the homophobic stuff or the tits and fanny stuff, but I'm not with you at all here.

We need to make our ground as intimidating as possible and gain advantage for our team, where ever possible. We know that our Thomas and his Dad get wound up by that particular chant and the boos and so as far as I'm concerned all's fair in love and war....

Ex-Players / Managers are fair game as far as I'm concerned... 👍

Overall we fully deserved the win, despite being a bit poor 2nd half and waring some great chances.

First half we were brilliant.

Usual litany of excuses from Paul Ince. Radio Berkshire thought we deserved to win on the basis of our dominance in the first 20 minute.

And no, I wouldnt have booed Tom Ince, I would have saved that for his useless manager..

Jeezuzzz ... a bit anti-semitic ... Yids playing centre half or wot? ......... Always was a bit dim.

Exactly. He was brilliant till Daddy came. Then he turned into “My Tom” a grade A weapon, throwing his arms about before going to Inter Milan, sorry I mean Hull.

That chant is perfect for them both. Two top whoppers.
Was funny when his old man turned his phone off on Bowlhead though when he was trying to get him a move tbf.

Two cheeks of the same arsehole clashing.

I think people forget all the ** about the pair of them did...... To sort Our Thomas's next contract out.

Who cares what Ince thinks. We won the game comfortably, and could have been further ahead if Bowler had not hit the post. Yes they did better second half, but we were defending our lead.

They really do. Tom Ince was brilliant to watch under Holloway but he completely changed when his Dad took over.

The Eubanks of football them two. Full on helmets.

Made up we beat them.
Bit of a travelling circus isn't it now. A shame because as a player MyTom, certainly if you can get him going in that attacking position like Holloway did, can cause teams problems. Thought he used his experience to pick Fiorini's pockets a few times today when he dropped in to try and get Reading going forward. Dom Thompson did well to get in the way of him equalising in the first half the first time he did it.

Don't like inviting pressure and hoping poor teams like Reading won't make anything of it though, that was the problem in the second half

It’s only my opinion but I think his Dad being his Manager is no help at all to him & he wasted a few years on the back of his dad whoring him
around Europe.

He was brilliant under Holloway the year we lost in play-offs and the start of the next… after that, it was all about him.

Anyone who says otherwise is lying 😂

You’re right though, he’s still got something.

He's a decent player, but he's an absolute dick like his dad as a character.

I don't know him that well. Maybe he's a decent lad in his own right but couldn't shake the influence of his old fella so has just gone along with it.
You're bound to inherit some character traits I suppose, but they're certainly a weird pair... As a young man, I'd have had to tell my dad to fuck off and stop stalking me TBH, but them two seem to love their little double act.

As AK says though it was the pair of the whoring around for new contracts and the petulant attitude / disrespect shown to his teammates that I didn't like....

he might have had the potential to become a decent bloke and a great footballer with the right manager.... Ollie might have made a decent character out of him, but his dad has just held him back IMHO...

i have some sympathy for tom.

it can't be easy having an overbearing dad (i've known people in similar situations and it never ended well). it's something he has talked about in the past, and made light of, but there's some unresolved issues i'd wager.

it's interesting that holloway unlocked the free-flowing, ambitious and tenacious tom. he didn't look happy under his old man, but the bubble had burst all around him by then.

on the whole, he was good for us and a joy to watch mostly. that's why he doesn't deserve being booed in my book..

We hit the post and the rebound was lucky for them, it's all ifs and buts but they created little with their possession, just the one chance from memory.

yep, as others have said, I don't really disagree with what he's said. We had a great first 20 minutes but after that it was a much more even game and they pretty much controlled the second half without creating too many chances. If I were the opposition manager and the natural bias they have I 'd think they'd deserved a point.
