Injured Lad in Preston hospital

Best wishes to the lad. Hopefully he has a speedy recovery. Some real idiots amongst our fans sadly 😡
 
This is just such a sad read after a great day - could have been any of us.
The poor lad has just been out celebrating the pool and this happens- tragic it really is and so unavoidable.

the sad thing is the lads that took the flare with them probably never thought this would ever happen . I love the atmosphere these things create but they don’t come without risk . Very ha

brings home a reality check.

I really hope the lad can get some good news on his hand - awful , really awful news .
 
My godson went today whos 18 so I’ve asked his mum to ask him if he knows who threw the firework. If he knows he will tell me and I will message the person asking

I’m struggling to understand how these things create atmosphere. They have no place anywhere near football or any crowd for that matter, outside of an organised display.

This is a wake up call, its horrific and yet it could have been even worse. Names should be forthcoming.

edit: I hope the club has CCTV that will help to identify those responsible.

Very sad to hear and personally I dont think I would be able to cope with this,because the effects are possibly life changing.

I sincerely hope he comes out ok on this and sincerest best wishes for a full recovery.

The dickhead who threw the firework apparently intended to do harm and could have killed someone. As it is, he or she has maimed one of his or her own. I feel ashamed on behalf of Blackpool Football Club and its true, long-suffering supporters.
Hope the poor victim makes a full recovery and the perpetrator is identified and not allowed near a football stadium for the rest of its life

Hopefully, now, they will take notice of the warnings.

I hope whatever damage has been caused to the poor lad can be suitably mended and healed. Good luck young man.

Yes you are correct, a lot of hypocrisy from some on here. These things have NEVER been ok.
 
When I heard the news about it today, I was disappointed because the scenes of fans coming to celebrate our playoff place was atmospheric but you do get some idiots that will spoil it for everybody, I wish the bloke a speedy recovery 🙏🏼

I think there's an important distinction to be made between the kind of coloured smoke flares (which are held in the hand and produce coloured smoke) and explosive 'Air Bombs', which are a firework that makes a loud bang. To light a dangerous firework, then simply walk off and leave it in a crowded area, particularly with young kids around is absolutely idiotic. There's no excuse and "I didn't mean to harm anyone" doesn't wash for me. You're big enough to buy the thing and light it, then you need to be big enough to take responsibility for your actions.

Most Blackpool Fans in my age group will know or at least know of Speedy. He's a character, a decent lad and like everyone else I wish him the most complete recovery possible. As has been said he works with his hands and he's also a quality artist, so the effects of this will likely be life changing.
 
Totally agree mate. Absolutely pathetic and incomprehensible that the idiot set off an explosive device amongst a crowd, because that’s what it was. I wasn’t able to get down there yesterday but if I had I would have no doubt took my kids with me. Could have been a tragedy. There must be CCTV outside the club so this tool can be identified and charged appropriately. Speedy is a hero but shouldn’t have had to pay the price for being one. Tangerine flares are one thing but fireworks?? No place for them at a football ground or the idiot who set it off with total disregard for anyone else’s safety.

Just hope Jay gets good treatment (I'm sure he will) and can manage his future life.

With regard to the law which applies to football grounds and other gatherings, there is no distinction whatsoever. Anyone carrying either in or near grounds should be banned.
 
Trouble is,people like bfcx3 and the msg/muckers dont abide to the laws. These law breakers have seriously injured someone and it turns out to be a friend of theirs.
 
Very unfortunate accident this was yes, however the context of it being thrown into a crowd of children is a fairy tale and Chinese whispers at its best.
 
I'm sure the person responsible will be identied and dealt with accordingly by the police and football club. I can fully understand why his family or friends want their details but hope this only to be passed to the correct authorities.

More importantly, I hope the surgery went well and the lad can recover as fully as possible.

I’m not being funny, but that’s totally out of order!!

I wasn’t even there on Saturday and have never had anything to do with flares or fireworks, I hate the dammed things.

I was simply making the point that the coloured flares and air bombs are not the same thing.
