Is anyone else ill?

I’ve not been well since Christmas Eve Eve, improved a little around 28th then went backwards. All in the head congested & coughing and sneezing. But this morning I woke up feeling a bit brighter. Hallelujah is the end in sight. 🤞🤞🤞
We're both suffering similar, with the same timeline Sooty. It's mainly on the chest now.
We went to our local Asda yesterday, and their shelves were empty of paracetamol and all cough medicines. People are obviously self medicating, to try to shift the lurgy, as trying to see a GP is hopeless.

Wife rang the doc’s regarding something else and got through ok. I think it just varies from practice to practice. Far from ideal though.

The only way to ascertain whether or not it’s bacterial, is to provide a sputum sample for analysis. If it proves to be so, then the culture’s grown will determine the correct antibiotic. For you guys struggling to shake it off, I’d request a telephone consult and insist that they allow you to provide a sample.. you can collect the specimen pot (have a good hoik at your leisure 🤮) and then drop it back off at the surgery…

As I said in a previous thread, MrsDP has this painful back problem, pulled or strained muscles I think.
For that simple reason, for the last 5 weeks, we've been isolated.
Only had brief family visits on Boxing Day.
Hardly any outside contact, except for me doing the shopping, and I try to keep away from people when shopping.
Could that semi isolation be working in our favour?
MrsDP is gradually recovering fortunately, so might be out soon.
This Voltarol works wonders, albeit slowly.

I have Sarcoidosis in my lungs and any infection for me is not good….I’ve not had probs for the last couple of years due to being on the vulnerable list and advised to avoid people/going out….
Anyway really bad chest infection got me on Oct 26th and had 4 lots of Antibiotics and huge Steroids courses and inhalers but my lungs are congested to hell….whilst constant coughing caused me to pull muscles in my back near my lungs….really painful….begged my consultant to allow me to go on my hols for some warmth…he said ok and prescribed me about 1kg of stuff🙂
Only just back and I’m as bad as ever….see consultant again next week……just really tired of it after 2 and half months of it.
Anway other than that feeling tremendous 😀
Just an update to my post….still mostly as above but it wasn’t a muscle strain causing the pain..typical of me I had fractured 2 ribs coughing and I’ve been on the respiratory ward for the last 3 days…another 5 days to go they think….trying to clear infection in chest and other stuff…on the upside the morphine works a treat 🙂
Hope everyone else is on the mend…going for a lil Kip now.

That's awful 99. Make the most of your rest in the care of the NHS & their lovely food :)
Get well soon pal - the Seasiders need everyone of us ;)

Since posting last week I finished the course of anti bios and steroids on Sunday gone. Wasn't feeling like I was getting anywhere but come Monday evening felt a little better. Coughing had eased and have progressed as week has gone by. Still spluttering a bit but definitely improved. Hopefully it stays that way as whatever this is can reappear like an unwanted guest, as some on here have intimated.

Best wishes 99, that rib fracture is a blow but believe me after my bout I can well see how that could happen. Enjoy your kip you have earned it.

It seems like some are willing to give antibiotics relatively easily while others, mine included, steadfastly refuse to .
It depends on the GP and their attitude towards reducing the volume of strains resistant to antibiotics.

Some prescribe it like smarties and some go to the opposite extreme.

Well, I am finally at the end of this horrible virus, started last Tuesday and today is the first day I feel ok except for the constant need to blow my nose and occasional cough.

Had most of the symptoms people are talking about but no fever.

No doctors just a simple mixture from Asda which helped to ease the different symptoms.

Here's to a full recovery to all.

It's taken a while. Still got a nasty cough; flu-like symptoms started before Christmas.
The older you are, the longer the recovery time
My club's 136 and there's no sign of improvement

Whilst we’re at it hallelujah I’m 95% better. Started 22nd December, I must have destroyed a few trees in tissues.

My missus been sick since just before Christmas, still not fully fit. I think Covid measures lowered our immune systems.
