Enjoyed his interview in Vogue and not every day you take a call from Elton John, however I wonder if it's affected his career? Before this he was a name the likes of @Insider was saying complimentary things about but has he been injured this season or has all the attention detracted from his football?

You might be very near the mark!

Hopefully he will listen to guidance and make the most of his talents on the pitch!

I honestly don't know why we haven't seen Jake playing since early season.
He did however say in his Vogue interview that he had been a ball boy at Bloomfield Rd recently (which is an Academy duty). This being the case it doesn't strike me of a young player suffering from "super star" syndrome.
Hopefully we'll see him playing again soon.
Once we do I'll report on his progress.

O follow him on Instagram and clearly he loves football, training and the game - recently been doing some weights and used the words 'back to it' and so might have had an injury?

Just won an award from the Attitude magazine - good looking guy who I think will probably make more as a model and gay icon than a footballer but I do hope we'll see some progression on that front but he now seems to be lagging behind some of those who appeared on Tuesday.

Clearly not concentrating enough on his football. Get rid asap, waste of a wage.

Garbage. The lad clearly has massive ambition for football - so you're saying when Haaland does a photoshoot that he's not concentrating on his football. Get a grip!
Jake Daniels was on the verge of breaking into the first team when he announced his sexuality. With that has come a new world for him media wise and icon wise, so much so he's now not even spoken about by supporters, almost a forgotten man.

The club pay him to be a footballer first and foremost, irrespective of his sexuality.

He's not performing as a football to the required standard ..... gay or not gay.

Hmm, and Haaland is currently playing where??? Get a grip.

Admits himself that last year he lost a little focus. This year, he seems to be making good progress and has received praise from Dobbie on more than one occasion. On Tuesday, Critchley needed to play both Beesley and Kouassi as centre forwards.

Get him on the bench when fit. Certainly couldn’t do worse than Beesley, who is about as threatening as a Dachshund puppy

He was on the verge of breaking into the first team?

Sorry can't have that.

He came on as a sub once didn't he - last game of the season at Posh if I recall. Not an ideal first game as we got stuffed.
Does that really count?
Half the first team left at home for that game five youth players on the bench and none of them 18 months later anywhere near our first 11.

And days later he came out… which was magic having that appearance as he could be classed as a Championship footballer…

He’s done well though to secure the £££ 👏🏻

If he’s more interested in his online activities and earning money from his decision to out himself, then the club should be looking to offload. Brave decision by the lad, which is to be applauded, but continuing to use the club as a platform for making money elsewhere isn’t right.

In purely football terms it feels like Jake’ career has stalled - maybe even gone backwards - in the last 18 months or so. Not sure when his contract is up but if it’s soon I think the club will have a decision to make because as unlike some others it’s not clear he will make it as a pro footballer at league level. Why has his career stalled, clearly outside activities have played a part - it could be argued that Jake needs to focus less on outside projects and much more on his football if he is to progress and really make a mark on the game.

It could also be argued it's none of our business. It could also be argued he is progressing as expected given he is playing regularly for the ressies at the age of 18. It could also be argued that it is not clear who will make it as a pro footballer from the dev squad. It could alsdo be argued that you are in no position whatsoever to judge. Sorry but what gives you the right, really? Too many online busybodies telling other people what to do in the modern world. IMO.

It’s called having an opinion - you do not have to agree with it - we are lucky enough to live in a country where we have freedom of speech. At the end of the day this is a ‘message board’ for discussion on various topics. If you don’t like people expressing an opinion I suggest you are in the wrong place my friend. 👍😊

I can only report on the Jake Daniels I see wearing a pair of football boots.
After coming out Jake effectively missed a season's football. That takes a little while to recover from and that's what he's currently doing.
There is no doubt that Jake is a very talented footballer. To me he's one of those players that seems to instinctively to know what to do with the ball be that pass, shoot, dribble or whatever.
Is he currently performing to the best of his abilty?
I don't think so. We see glimpses of the 17 yr old but there's lot more to come, he's not 19 until Jan 2024, so he's currently in the best place under the watchful eye of the Academy staff.
Next January might be a more appropriate time to consider sending him out on loan.

I'm completely ok with people expressing opinions and have been since the forum was born but I also think a lot of bollocks gets talked on here and a lot of misinformed and unreasonable criticism gets dished out.

I’m in not criticising Jake in any way whatsoever. Me, like many others I suspect, really want Jake to succeed a) as a footballer and b) as a gay man in professional football - which drastically needs to change to be more inclusive of the LQBTQ+ community. My point is that in my view iit does not feel like Jake has progressed in the way we all hope and in the way others have. There could be many reasons for that of course such as injury, but, I can’t help but wonder if all the ‘extra curricular activities’ have had an impact. You may not agree with my view which is absolutely fine but in a fair and democratic society my view is equally as valid as yours or anyones. At the end of the day football is of course all about opinions which is why we love it.

He's been playing for the reserves. They've had four games so far and Jake has played in all of them. Young lad playing for the reserves. Simple. There's no story, nothing to get annoyed about, no anti woke bandwagon to jump on. Move on!

I came here to say this.

I suspect the lad knew he'd be taking on a mountain of pressure when he came out, however I suspect he didn't expect that much of it to be from his own club's fans.

Get off his back.

I don't notice any threads on 95% of our young players offering an opinion on their development or life choices.

Any player who has made to the stage Daniels has has worked their arse off. As insider points out, he's a lot younger than players like Brad Holmes. He's arguably ahead of schedule in terms of other players and had a lot of disruptive injury problems.

Are we happy with Charlie Cox's progress? What about Zak Emerson? Why aren't they breaking through? Have they done things in their lives when not training or playing football. Probably. Maybe they went bowling or watched a film. Maybe they went to see their grandma or went to Primark. How very dare they? They should be concentrating

Well said thank you. We have some smart fans too.

Absolutely nothing has come out about his football career progressing, I believe there was a alternative motive behind him coming out. He was an unknown footballer, anyone who needed to know probably already did. You could say he is now receiving biased attention/treatment in comparison to his teammates who are probably trying equally as hard to get a career. He should have got his head down and concentrated on making it as a footballer than dealt with coming out later.

Assume he’s over that bad injury now.
He needs as many matches as possible. If that means more reserve matches, bring it on.

Up until last season Kylian Kouassi was but a reserve player for Sutton, getting the occasional appearance off the bench

I'll be to the point

Jake Daniels will not make it at Blackpool, nor at any level above Blackpool

And I'd wager that Kouassi didn't have other 'interests' outside of football hindering him

My comments aren't based on his sexuality

I couldn't care less.

I'd like him to be a top player for us, I just think his decision (which is bigger than football) changed his career path

I understand but nobody knows what his career path will be. He's only 18. If he hadn't done what he did it might have affected his career later. He's got loads of time to build a successful career if that's what he wants.

You think Kylian Kouassi has no interests outside of football? Interesting take.

I've seen him get on the no. 9 bus so can confirm he isn't suffering from "superstar syndrome!"

Beesley has had his share of chances and isn’t quite good enough at upper league level..he needs to be sold or released..not even any point in loaning him out as he just isn’t good enough for a team with promotion ambitions
