A name that completely passed me by!

Ex-Blackpool wide man Jamie Devitt has called it quits on his professional footballing career at the age of 33. He had struggled with injuries and fitness issues towards the back end of his run, having made just 21 appearances since the summer of 2022 - this factor is likely to have played a major role in his decision to walk away from the beautiful game.
Devitt took to X (formerly Twitter) to announce the news, where he posted a video that was simply captioned 'thank you'. Over the course of his time as an active player, Devitt played for clubs such as Hull City, Morecambe and most recently, Workington.

I remember the name. Not a great deal else. Midfielder? Wiki says he never played a game. I kinda thought he'd come off the bench or played LDV or something.

Will be fondly remembered. 😂 All the best to him of course though!

Think he was one of 2 players signed by Terry McPhillips just before he resigned, and Grayson didn't like him.
from Wikipedia :-
On 20 June 2019, Devitt signed for Blackpool on a two-year contract, with the option of a further 12 months. In August 2019 he re-joined Bradford City on loan. His loan expired on 1 May 2020.

Devitt found himself surplus to the plans of new Blackpool head coach Neil Critchley. He was not given a squad number for the 2020–21 season and was asked to look for a new club.

On 16 October 2020, Devitt joined Newport County on loan until January 2021. He made his debut for Newport County as a second half substitute in the 2–1 League Two win against Harrogate Town on 31 October 2020. He scored his first goal for Newport in the 3–2 League Two defeat against Carlisle United on 3 November 2020.

Devitt and Blackpool mutually terminated his contract on 19 January 2021.

Also from Wiki "Prior to Terry McPhillips' departure on 5 July, Blackpool agreed moves for five players, all from free agency. The first arrival was 27-year-old former Solihull Moors striker Adi Yussuf.[2] (Yussuf returned to Solihull on loan in September without making an appearance for Blackpool.)[3] Central defender Ryan Edwards, 25, left Plymouth Argyle at the end of the 2018–19 season after turning down a new contract.[4] Irish midfielder, 28-year-old Jamie Devitt, put pen to paper after rejecting a contract renewal from Carlisle United.[5] (Devitt was loaned out to Gary Bowyer's Bradford City on 23 August.)[6] Fellow midfielder Ben Tollitt joined the following day. The 24-year-old had been released by Tranmere Rovers.[7] (Tollitt was loaned out to Wrexham on 23 August.)[7] Into July, 23-year-old former Crystal Palace midfielder Sullay Kaikai terminated his contract with NAC Breda to move to Bloomfield Road.[8]"

Other than Sully that’s a shocking window

Could have sworn I'd seen him maybe in a pre season game. Handy picture to have to keep the kids away from the fireplace.
