Few murmurs of Jerry leaving, someone on Twitter claiming Barnsley are in for him - with a new long term contract surely we wouldn’t accept any less than 1m?
If Barnsley have 4 million then sure. But he can't go for less, if he goes for a misery fee you'll see a lot of people unhappy.Few murmurs of Jerry leaving, someone on Twitter claiming Barnsley are in for him - with a new long term contract surely we wouldn’t accept any less than 1m?
I don’t see it happening either.Nah. Not having it. Bonkers rumour.

On what evidence? Both very similar in style of play, one has scored a few more than Yates now at this level. Wouldn't want to see him leave as alternating the two is preferrable.I hope they don’t sell him. I still think overall he has more to offer than Lavery.
On an entire season and a half I'd imagine. One has been given a better run in the side than the other tbh.On what evidence? Both very similar in style of play, one has scored a few more than Yates now at this level. Wouldn't want to see him leave as alternating the two is preferrable.
But maybe he feels he should be in the starting 11.Vital part of the squad
Not for sale.
And there are also the regular Northern Ireland appearances for Lavery. It would have to be an offer of around 3 million for us to seriously consider letting Yates go.Another thing about Jerry is he has largely stayed fit. I'm always concerned about any player that's suffered a hamstring injury, they seem to re-occur.
Agreed but a 15 minute cameo each week is not conducive to someone who probably feels they should be higher up the pecking orderI wouldn’t have thought we’d be selling Jerry. He’s one of our best players.
I think part of the issue is the lack of height elsewhere. Forces the hand a little as if you take GazMads out we suddenly look pretty small against some teams.I still thin we should have given Yates and Lavery more airtime instead of Madine…we don’t have to launch the ball every time and I would like to see it to feet with lavery and Yates running the channels.. both work insanely hard and our press would be awesome… I don’t think they are too alike and lavery takes up much better positions in the box than Jerry who cuts inside… I guess the manager sees them in training but that isn’t match conditions and I would like to see them paired together for 4/5 games
I’m not sure that’s true… Critch has pretty much been alternating Lavery and Jerry, since Lavery has been fit.Critch doesn’t seem to be giving the lad playing time, you cant blame him if he bails out.

I don’t do FB anymore, so didn’t get to see it…On the same/slightly different topic - there's a FB video from the club showing Lavery's goal from a different view. Worth watching if only to see how the players celebrate. Makes for good viewing for me.

Ace. Just ace.
true or not, Yates was a certain starter every game last season and based on his number of goals I expect he thought he'd be first choice striker this season. Of course as a club and as a player you expect competition for places but it wouldn't surprise me if he's a bit miffed about having to share the striking role with Lavery when in his mind he feels he was/is the no 1 striker. Especially more recently as the season has progressed.I’m not sure that’s true… Critch has pretty much been alternating Lavery and Jerry, since Lavery has been fit.
I’d like to hope he’d grasp that we need more than one option to get through a full season in the Championship (as we’ve already seen with Lavery’s injury), but of course he will want to be the main man.true or not, Yates was a certain starter every game last season and based on his number of goals I expect he thought he'd be first choice striker this season. I realise this thread is probably bullshit but, there's one thing Jerry needs to improve on & that's winning high balls, Lavery wins more despite his size. I also think Jerry & Gaz worked well last season, but we've seen little of that pairing, some due to injuries. Come on Jerry rise to the challenge.I don’t get it, I love Jerry, he’s quick, always chases everything, closes players down, he knows where the goal is and somehow, he draws the eye. Charisma.
He's our second highest scorer. We need him. This could be a wake up call to Jerry Yates, no-one is bigger than the club and sometimes a player needs a kick up the backside to get their head straight. I would doubt we would sell him in this window but a loan to a top League 1 team wouldn't be a surprise. I guess it depends on whether we have someone lined up to replace him.
