Jerry Yates

When did I say literally anything about his ability. He was one of the best players today. However, he is a striker who doesn't understand the offside rule, so I'd like someone to teach him it.

Away at QPR, he knew he was in an offside position, so allowed the ball to roll through to Bowler, who scored.
So he clearly understands the rule.
He's also our best, and fittest, player.

I agree with you that he was offside a lot today, but I think that was just as much to do with the disjointed midfield behind him failing to pass at the right moments.

Very weird point. Our best player.
I'll copy and paste my previous response for you:

Can someone sit down with the lad and explain the offside rule to him as if he was a 5 year old?
Caught offside far too often.

His general play has been poor at times too, often hesitates and goes backwards or loses it.

I love him and he puts a big shift in, but I feel that let's him off from some criticism at times.

When he was firing them in you thought he's gone to the next level, but yes we were doing poorly but he's stagnated a bit since the open play goals.

It's a shame he hasn't kicked on but thr teams been mostly shocking too.

He's one of the first names on thr sheet, but if he could improve some parts of his game that'd be huge.

Our biggest asset, service is key for Jerry to thrive and this season he has barely had any. Had to create his own goals and pens … lack of service for him won’t see him score more than 10-15 goals withservice would easily be 25 plus.

Have you considered that the liners yesterday were wrong . . . . A lot

He won’t be a league one player next season, someone will buy him for a seven figure fee if we go down.
If we do go down then he may as well stay because he won’t get picked up by a club any higher than Division 1
I have mentioned on numerous occasions that, despite all his energy and enthusiasm, which he puts in at every game the fact is that Jerry is not a Championship player.
No doubt he will do very well in Div 1 so if we do go down I think he will stay unless a bigger Div 1 club comes in for him.
Also, what is his contract.

He's scored 11 goals in a struggling side. Of course he's good enough for the Championship

Yates has been feeding off scraps for months. No penetrating passes to him, more often than not he's isolated and is chasing down long balls whilst competing against 2 or 3 defenders. We've all seen how effective he is when the team is firing on all cylinders.

Contracted until summer of 2024 with the option of another year.
