John Jules

Another JET in the making? Not good enough for Arsenal - that's saying something at the moment - and has still to find his level, not just based on ability but desire as well.

Imagine you have just started a new job but you only get the opportunity to perform for 90 mins a week with 10 new colleagues?.How long before you become fully effective?.

Training Ground ,match minutes and time.January the time to judge more accurately.

He wasn't for quite some time. He scored twice against Wigan, but I could have scored them. Wigan had just given up cos Gaz Maz had bullied them to death. Then when Madine got crocked and he was played in that role he looked really lost. At first.

The point to me, is, he learned. Not that he was poor. He adapted and listened and watched and by the end of his spell he was unbelievably good.

I think we probably learned to play to him as well. I agree that by the play offs/end of season, he was as good, if not better than anyone else and to be honest, I'd struggle to think of many better striking performances than oxford away from anyone.
He still was poor in a couple games late in the season, just a few days after having a worldy. Hence I think it was the physical nature of playing regularly that caused his dips. I actually said pre-Oxford game that he would be the player to watch because he was well rested in the gap before the play-offs.

Two superb goal scoring opportunity passes at Bournemouth, both to Anderson.
One resulting in the penalty. Very unlucky with his booking imo, he kept on trying to play the ball after he went down.

Also, (not to zico this, just general) Simms and John-Jules are different players. Simms wouldn't have played the three weighted balls John-Jules played yesterday. I feel the lad is getting a bit of stick for not being someone else at times.

We learned to get the best out of Simms, we'll hopefully learn the same with John Jules.

On a ridiculous comparison level, Charlie is not Wes. Brett is not Tony Ellis etc. Players can play similar positions but be very different.

We've got Madine to come back to be an enforcer and whilst some doubt him, simply to be that physical presence, I'd say we'd struggle to get someone as canny and capable (if fit)

I know he's limited in a lot of ways, but we've got options that we simply didn't have last year and John Jules adds variety.
Well said that man!

He has a deft touch, can hold up the ball, and can play in a pass that can lead to a goal scoring opportunity. He is nothing like a Simms storming forward etc so no point comparing the two.

If he wants to complain to the ref constantly and effectively he needs to sign up to the GTF School Of Complaining, he knows how to do it and get under the opposition's skin while also being ** ace.
