What next?
or rather who next?
or rather who next?
I think your jumping the gun a bit he hasn’t even written his resignation letter yet. What next?
or rather who next?
Resignation statement incomingI think your jumping the gun a bit he hasn’t even written his resignation letter yet.
Yeah you’re right it’s not like we can believe anything that comes out of his mouthI assume he's finally worked out that resigning is best for Boris...
Letter has been written, he just has to sign it which we’re now told he will.I think your jumping the gun a bit he hasn’t even written his resignation letter yet.
I assumed Carrie would write it for him, as she seems to do everything else.I think your jumping the gun a bit he hasn’t even written his resignation letter yet.
You inside No10?Letter has been written, he just has to sign it which we’re now told he will.
I think you might be on the money there.Staying on until the Autumn while a leadership contest takes place, so has bought himself some time
Wouldn't surprise me if he tries to wriggle out of this later
Precisely.Zahawi has lost all credibility for me, accepts the job of chancellor on Tuesday night, does the breakfast media round on Wednesday morning saying Boris is honourable and has integrity, the same night he’s saying the prime minister should resign.
And today he writes to the PM explaining why he should goZahawi has lost all credibility for me, accepts the job of chancellor on Tuesday night, does the breakfast media round on Wednesday morning saying Boris is honourable and has integrity, the same night he’s saying the prime minister should resign.
Crisis management in the short term, resignations stop for nowI think you might be on the money there.

Raab presumably would be the interim?PM until Autumn? He just doesn't get it. Nobody wants to be in his cabinet right now and an interim cabinet for the next 3 months or so will have to cope with the current issues he isn't dealing with at the moment plus whatever new crises crop up. He needs to go completely and let an interim run the show until they elect a new leader.
repor that he’s staying until the new leader is in place. It’ll be interesting to see who accepts all the posts he has to fill.Raab presumably would be the interim?
Summer recess coming up in a couple of weeks until September let him carry on and have a few summer holidays to Ukraine.PM until Autumn? He just doesn't get it. You mean we’re going to replace like for likeSo we are going to get a career politician who will spout politician talk but has absolutely no clue to how the average person lives I bet.
Agree, we’re in unprecedented times and we need a functioning government. The timing of all this is a serious issue. The security of the country is at stake here. For what it's worth, my view is that Raab should become the interim PM with immediate effect and all of the Ministers and PPSs who resigned over the last 48 hours, and who's posts have not been backfilled, should go straight back to those posts and get on with the job of government.
Yes I always thought he’d be in with a shout.Apparently Ben Wallace is clear favourite amongst Tory party members. I like him, he just needs to smile sometimes, but he does appear to be a serious poli and very credible imo.
As my MP I’ve been following keeping a close eye on his comments over his time as Defence Minister... he’s certainly kept counsel over the recent indiscretions by BJ.Yes I always thought he’d be in with a shout.
Yes. And I thought his reasons for not resigning were credible and will go some way to protecting his “brand” from being tarnished by association with BJAs my MP I’ve been following keeping a close eye on his comments over his time as Defence Minister... he’s certainly kept counsel over the recent indiscretions by BJ.
I certainly hope so, I've always regarded him as one of the very few MPs, across all parties, with any honour & integrityApparently Ben Wallace is clear favourite amongst Tory party members. I like him, he just needs to smile sometimes, but he does appear to be a serious poli and very credible imo.
Forgot about Truss, intentional Thatcher clone who likes a photo opportunity. Doesn't come across as very bright and was a remainer. Hopefully not.Wallace is a tough character, who doesn't accept any sh*t when being interviewed by the biased BBC. His seat is in the north, so he 'should' care more about what happens up here.
Liz Truss a possibility?
I'll go with that pal, as we don't want a remoaner in charge - that would potentially distract us from getting the country sorted out.Forgot about Truss, intentional Thatcher clone who likes a photo opportunity. Doesn't come across as very bright and was a remainer. Hopefully not.
He also needs to learn how to reply to my emails!Apparently Ben Wallace is clear favourite amongst Tory party members. I like him, he just needs to smile sometimes, but he does appear to be a serious poli and very credible imo.
The Conservative Party need to get him out of Downing Street asap.I'll go with that pal, as we don't want a remoaner in charge - that would potentially distract us from getting the country sorted out.
Bojo is reportedly going to be saying that he'll stay until autumn or until another leader is selected ..... he has the skin of an Eaton rhino that guy .
That would be akin to all our players asking for a transfer unless their useless manager leaves, and the manager saying he'ls resigned, but will stay in charge for a few months until a new manager is selected
The Parliamentary Tories know that if they choose a Remain leader it will probably hand the next election to Labour. The party would split - perhaps, irrevocably - and the red wall voters would return to their roots.Candidates so far;
Wallace: good communicator, safe pair of hands, probably favourite at this stage
Javid : no chance but will run
Sunak : probably out of the running after Johnson nobbled him. He did get his own back in rather spectacular style though.
Braverman : no chance, has declared as running
Hunt : too one nation for the current parliamentary party, will run though
Raab : no chance
Mordant : could end up in the final one or two, again sensible
Baker : no chance but has declared that he is running
Tugendhat : too left wing for the current MPs
