Jordan Rhodes

Yep, he was very good today. He took his goal well, and held up the ball easily , often bringing CJ into the game with a simple ball into the gap Wigan left on the right wing. His hold up play and header out to Virtue led to the winner.

Throughout the game, he didn't allow the CB's any time on the ball, often getting between the CB and the ball when they failed to control the ball first time, winning possession on several occasions. He had a great game

Jordan was brilliant today. We were down at the touch line behind the goal before the game and to watch him warming up etc was great. He never missed scoring with shots and headers he’s technically excellent. I’d like to see how he would feed off Madine but that’s not happening. I think generally Beesley played better today so that was most likely down to Jordan’s link up play. He could well be a Blackpool legend this season. Probably is already after scoring today.

You could see he was different class at Lincoln. Movement, positioning and reading of the game is another level. Imagine him in his late 20s. The Spandau Ballet chant for him is so good haha.

Was it just me or did Wigan's defence completely disappear for the winner, we looked like we were queueing up?

Lytham…they got greedy and instead of taking the draw they thought we can get all 3 and went hung ho….they paid the price..,
You're both right. After they scored, they thought they could nick the win but they over committed.
It wouldn't have happened without the brilliant CF play of Rhodes though imo. He won the clearance, and cushioned a header out to the the right wing to set up the cross

But just like Lytham, I was still pissed off at conceding so late on.

just seen our goals again. Rhodes movement to know where CJ was likely to play the ball and just get across his marker was superb and a true sign of a predatory striker. He did well today and ran his socks off and that's not something I usually associate with him.
Sometimes you get those forwards who are kinda lazy but very good. Think he is one of them.

To say something I’ve never sad on this site since I joined maybe ten years ago - “I told you so!”
I’m a massive (did he play for the owls?) Jordan Rhodes fan, always have been and he’s just what we needed.

It was that first time pass knowing where the space was, where some others hesitate a bit, control it and then try and pick a pass and the moment is gone.

Worked his nuts off today. Think he’s the sort of experience we needed. I’m excited to see him play along side Lavery when back fit. Could’ve probably scored 2 or 3 today as well, but it’ll do him good to get that goal. Can push on now. UTP!
What I liked was the way he battled throughout. I wasn't expecting that, as I've always seen him as a goal poacher.

Agree with all the plaudits for Jordan Rhodes, but very surprised at the very few mentions for the tireless work of Jake Beesley.
He won almost every aireal duel and won the ball back many times from their defenders setting up numerous attacks
He was absolutely knackered when he went off.
yep well said. Easy to forget about his contribution today. He and maybe even CJ had their best ever games in a tangerine shirt.

100% some moaned when we signed Rhodes, I couldn't wait to see him play his home debut and he did not disappoint. He definitely had a positive impact on Beesley, you could see pre match Rhodes was in his ear. I think we could have a new leader and possibly a new captain if he keeps his performance levels up!

My Udders supporting mate beat you to it with the 'told you so'
He phoned me as he was on his way home from West Brom!!

Thinking of a song for Jordan Rhodes, I am sure this has been used before, but is right for us…

To the tune of “Country Roads,Take Me Home” by John Denver…

🎶 Jordan Rhodes, take me home
To the place where I belong
Wembley Stadium, Playoff Final
Take me home, Jordan Rhodes 🎶

Was really impressed with his hold-up play and lay offs, he’d hit a pass to Dale just before the winner that was pure class, as was his run for his 1st goal.

A natural goalscorer.
We've been begging for that striker who is samart enough to get in front of the first defender from crosses. His movement throughout was a case study in how to find space and use it well. He'll improve Beez too.

You can tell from his interviews etc that he’s a top bloke - had never heard him speak until he came to us and always presumed he’d be a right Billy Big Bollox .. really refreshing to see a decent pro who is also a nice human being!
I thought exactly the same..Well spoken.
