Josh Bowler sees παγκάκι (pankáki)

I'm surprised that having a player who can run a bit, then lose the ball, then not bother defending, isn't exactly what their team needs right now. Doesn't every team need that??
Seriously though, do we REALLY miss him? I felt he'd been sussed out, with teams doubling up on him, and so often he just continued to run into blind alleys. His low number of assists, as well as his few goals (except for the mini purple patch) speak volumes.
I'm not saying he couldn't improve, but I feel that he needed to.
And it seems that he didn't want to stay - signed a short contract and didn't renew. Got what he wanted (not necessarily what he deserved).

If Bowler takes away two defenders then it gives the room for Jerry to slot in a few more goals.

Now Appleton has got Jerry and CJ sorted Bowler would add to our forward options

Come back Josh 🍊

However frustrating he can be, notwithstanding the chaos he can cause in his own half, despite the fact better defenders and coaches can suss out his modus operandi, yes, I'd have him back tomorrow.
Surely the return of Josh would only improve our chances of remaining in the Championship

Teams doubling up on him definitely doesnt mean they'd 'sussed him out', they'd simply realised he was out most dangerous player and had to double up on him to stop him. That should have meant our other creative players could shine but we were so reliant on Bowler it didn't happen, plus he kept the ball for too long instead of playing in teammates in space created by him being manmarked.

If Forest, Bowler and ourselves are open to a January return on loan, surely we hold the cards? We're the only team he can play for this season other than Olympiakos, so Forest have the choice of him remaining in Greece not playing, recalling him and most likely not playing, or coming on loan to us for game time. We should be saying "we're happy to take him on loan and help develop your asset in an environment he's proven to shine in, but you cover all of his wages".
I personally think thats a no lose situation, Bowler continues his development on big wages paid by Forest, who in turn have a player playing in the league they will be in next season so he's ready made to step into their squad after a mass exodus upon relegation and we get a top Championship player back who should slot straight in as he only left a few months earlier.

He was never committed to us but why would he be? He’s a professional footballer and we’re a professional football club. He’s in it for the money. So are our owners. Anyone who thinks there’s other motives is naive and knows precious little about football.

As good a player as Josh was and he was, we’ve moved on in a very different direction and playing some great football as a collective team! Josh made a decision to move on (for financial reasons?) and Forest would have explained to him what would be happening ie going out on loan to Olympiakos.

I know it's probably contract stuff, but if Olympiacos are clearly no longer fancying him, why wouldn't they agree to Forest taking him back and give him some sub slots, or at least get him training with their own lads.

Bowler’s clearly a confidence player, Hull fans didn’t rate him at all when we signed him. He obviously got given time with us, and benefitted from it massively and you could see the confidence oozing from him. Just feel it could break him, not being fancied at all by the manager there and if he doesn’t hit the ground running back at Forest he won’t be given time like he was here.

I’m not sure I’d want him back …
Whilst I think we are definately in the minority here BFCx3 I agree.

I love Josh as a player he was fantastic for us. Great guy fantastic attitude .

However we seem to be playing as well as if not better than when he was with us at the moment although I accept things can change

We seem a more balanced side now playing as a team rather than just a one man show .

Just a feeling but I wouldn’t want to upset the applecart at the minute by bringing him back

He’s already played for us and Olympiacos (briefly 🤭) this season Steve, so can’t play for forest or anyone else. Yes he could train with Forest but no idea what the point of that would be.

What is the maximum number of clubs a player can appear for in one season…?
You can only be registered for 3 different clubs in a season. Josh has been registered for us, Forest (pretty sure he would have to have been registred to enable the transfer) and Olympiakios.

Was our best and most creative player by a mile; he's made the club some decent money and it's a pity it's not working out - no doubt softened but becoming a multi-millionaire.

It's a bit of a shame that this is the second time he's not got game time in his career - of that matters to him (and he has said so previously) it must hurt

Would I have him back, in a heartbeat.
Would he improve the team - absolutely

Our owners in it for the money…you don’t half post some ridiculous nonesense….so you think Simon has invested in the club to make money do you?I suspect he has been doing the complete opposite since he bought the club and has invested more than the parasites ever did with a lot more to come.

Call me naive if you want straighters but you’ve got this completely wrong

I would infact suggest that anyone buying a club like BFC to make money is in fact naive and knows precious little about football .

Registered with 3 play for only 2.

I always thought Josh could do the Hoolahan role, he would create mayhem running at CBacks.
On the wing granted they double upped on him but that stopped his, effectiveness

Talk about messing Josh about. The new boss, hasn’t until date played him. He was on the bench midweek as an unused sub for a Europa League match, but then doesn’t even make the bench for today’s match. Time waits for no man. His talent is being totally annihilated. Gifted players like him, need to be playing week in and out.

Can’t help but think his career will stall for a long time now. Forrest will probably off load him should they get relegated, they’d probably want 2 mill back the likes of Bournemouth and Fulham won’t fancy him anymore due to him not playing for a year. I can’t argue more with others saying we wouldn’t want him back…..one minute some fans are going berserk when go goes for a relatively small fee next we wouldn’t have him back……couldn’t make that up. I’m nowhere near knowledgeable wether he would fit into our current formation and style but on a good day he was unplayable. He is one of the best players I’ve ever seen in Tangerine and those disrespecting him should remember he was probably worth 10-15 points last season. There’s also comments regarding his commitment….he literally ran his bollocks off, didn’t he also personally turn down an offer in the winter window last season? I can only wish him luck in his future and hope he can get more game time wherever that may be

Could be the best deal we’ve seen for years?
We got £4million for him and created a team which is gelling without him (albeit forced upon MA).
Then if MA wants him we might borrow him to be an impact sub from Jan onwards 😂

Not too sure having him back would benefit either party. However if Forest offered him back on loan and said that they would pay his wages, that might work and we could send Poveda, who has done nothing wrong, back so he could go somewhere to get game time. That's not to say Bowler would automatically get game time either but he would be a good option .

Applitic/Angel,

I should have expressed my view better on this. I wasn’t implying that SS is working tooth and nail to make profit from owning us, although there’s really no reason why someone gaining from an investment (in whatever way they gain) should be considered wrong...What I was meaning is that he runs the club like any other business and makes decisions based on solid financial reasons. In this case, selling Bowler was the right decision because we’d have sold him for less in January or lost him for free next summer.

I’m comfortable with that and I think any expectation that we should make losses over very short term football gain is naive.

Erm, he's a thousand times better than Corbenau and Poveda and substantially better than Hamilton. Of course we would have him back. Why are people having such ridiculous short memories?

He was offered a MEGA contract at Forest and he's better than what we currently have. So yes 100% every single Blackpool fan would have him back in January for 6 months.

I would say he was better than any that Forest have too. What a shambles they are becoming. Day of reckoning coming sometime down the line for their dodgy owner.

I can see Poveda going back to Leeds and Bowler returning in January. As much as we have started to cope without him, he would definitely strengthen our squad/team.

The whole reason Bowler went to Olympiacos was to mask or artificially move finances around Marinakis's clubs.

If Bowler leaves Olympiacos before the season is over wouldn't the 'Loan fee' Olympiacos paid to Forest have to be partly paid back or reduced - thus negating the main reason he went there in the first place.

Obviously there may well be a million other things that come into play but I get the feeling he's stuck there for the season.

A bit unlucky for Josh really but he's got his pound of flesh rightly or wrongly. Personally think he'll look back at this summer and see it as a massive error in his career, not to say staying with us was the correct move but surely, Forest wasn't the only option and once he knew about the season long loan to Greece alarm bells should have gone off.
