Apparently I’ve been in close contact three days ago with someone who has Covid. Not sure what I have to do now. I’ve tested and I’m negative, I’ve no symptoms, am I supposed to isolate, or has this all gone. Obviously I don’t want to infect anyone else.

Even if you have Covid these days I don’t think you have to isolate. Although many do.

Mate tested positive today. Him and family due to fly to Costa Rica tomorrow. Rebooking for later in the year.
Things seem on the rise case wise

That’s what I thought, but it is on the rise and it’s six months since I had my booster. Got my fourth one booked on Friday.
Yeah. New variant as well apparently - a combination of Delta and Omicron.

Who knows what the outcome might be? Ask me again in 18 months.

I got a similar ping at the weekend. When I looked at the nhs app it said if I was jabbed and had no symptoms I was free not to isolate .

Complete load of shite take no notice the sooner we learn to live with this virus than this scaremongering the better.

I've spoke to three people in the last 24hrs all elderly who've got the virus and basically they've got a cold one my dog groomer wasn't going to come despite feeling fine until I told them to crack on and make a living.

My B-I-L has just had it for 10 days. A very fit and active 70yr old who hadn't ever felt as ill and was close to getting paramedics to attend to see if he needed to go to Hospital.Being triple jabbed probably saved him.

Its still out there folks.

Like normal flu then which can floor anyone.
But we don't test like crazy and everyone cracks on if there OK.

It’s up to you what you do now, but the advice is to isolate for a week I think. If that is too long for you then the incubation period for Omicron is two to four days apparently.
Three days since your contact so I suppose if you isolate until about Friday and still test negative then you will probably have at least significantly reduced the odds of you infecting anyone else??

Is it an app? I received a text message saying something similar a couple of weeks ago.

I just deleted it without thinking but on reflection wonder now whether it was genuine or some sort of scam?

The golden rule - don’t click on a link!!

There’s seems to be quite a lot of people who have covid now.. and the powers that be don't care. Why don't they care?

Because there was wasn’t that much to be concerned about in the first place and the narrative has served its purpose.

It really isn’t hard to see this.

My wife tested positive last Thursday and has, at last, tested negative. Fortunately, I've tested negative throughout, but we took precautions such as her isolating and only going out for short walks away from crowds. I have been careful with whom I come into contact and wore my mask when out shopping. Cancelled our Golden Wedding meal last Saturday and re-arranged it for April. Her main symptom was a nasty cough, after the initial one day of aches and pains. It doesn't appear to be what it was, now.

I was pinged a while ago and I hadn’t been out the house or in contact with anyone. For them to text you it’s gotta be from someone with your mobile number that’s got covid and told the nhs they’ve been in contact with you.
None of the above applied to me so I carried on as normal

I just had to collect my repaired sunglasses from an opticians in Garstang. I was stunned when she asked me if I had a mask with me before coming in.
Nope sorry….

She then got the heat gun out and wanted to test my temperature? Am I back in 2019? I just said can you get my glasses I’ll wait outside and hold my card at arms length for you.

To add. The woman was grossly overweight so maybe was worried that my pheromones might overpower her heart and lungs perhaps??? 😀

There’s loads of people getting it now and the tests are unreliable (e.g. negative in the morning, positive in the afternoon.) If you’ve got a sniffle / headache / cold like symptoms, chances are it’s Covid.

Surely if you feel ill whatever the symptoms ( cold , flu, diarrhea bug) you stay off work and retire to your bed or work from home instead of spreading germs?

Nah you can't do that too much commen sense you need to shove a stick up your nose everyday until you finally get a positive result.

One of the worst things of the past two years. People with seemingly no interest in protecting their own health themselves by exercising or eating healthy, expecting others to protect their health for them by wearing a mask or asking for the temperature.

Wear your mask to protect me, I’m just eating a Maccies and a multipack of crisps.

Laughable.

Death rate's now stable at about 125 deaths per day, unlike the 150,000 who died from the virus in the first year.

Death rate was stable last year, but the drum was still being banged, loudly, day on day… and then got a real good whack before Christmas… but then just drifted away.

150,000 is also built on quicksand given the way deaths were recorded.

I see the Deltacron or Omnidelta or whatever they’re calling it didn’t last long in the project fear narrative.
No one was interested so they went back to Ukraine and Sunaks pointless budget.

Where did you get to in the end in the city?
I did the hop on hop off bus tour Chunky so saw all the sights really. I enjoyed that 👍but made it last over 2 days and stuck a bit of shopping in there in between.

I think the south side of the river was lovely.
Has a nice time but wouldn‘t go back as not much else to see now and if you aren’t a drinker then there isn’t the pull of that side of things either.

Glad I went though, another city off my tick list.
Thanks for asking 👌

Exactly this, it is all a narrative built on fear, manipulation and control.

Even Whitty made a comeback the past week, after his ludicrous comments pre-Xmas on Omicron. The CMO of the country who probably can’t even do a press-up & looks like he’s been dug up, a real picture of health.

Ah Omicron. What was it just before Christmas?
'Theres a new variant, we don't know how bad it is but we do know another shot will cure it' lol.

People fall for this shit time after time. Still. It shouldn't be funny really because they're preying on people's worries. It's not on really.' I'd have more respect if they said we've bought a job lot and are getting rid to assuage the fears of people that we've frightened to death.

You know that there were 75,000 Covid deaths in the 4 months to 31 March 2021.

Lockdown started to be relaxed in March, and was fully gone by 19 July.

Going by what was said on here, most of the chatter over the summer was about passports, and most of the rest was the usual political point scoring, I'm sure it was much the same in the media.

Towards the end of October, a lot of the rest of Europe was going back into lockdown, and there were obvious worries we'd end up going the same way.

Omicron, came along in December, it displayed the one thing we were really worried about, immunity escape, in the end it wasn't as bad as it could've been, but it was a significant story nonetheless.

You know that's the death certificate figure, i.e. a qualified doctor has said that Covid was a factor in those cases, and if you dig down into the detail you'll find that over 90% of those cases listed Covid as the underlying cause of death.

Bonkers. I got contacted by Track and Trace 8 times in one day 8 days after I registered as being positive. I was working in Cambridge, working, after testing negative 3 days in a row. I assume they will be standing all this down now

Yes if you cut out the drinking bit it ain’t all that Lala 👍

Lots of it about. We have at least 3 people coming in to work who have it, we are told to come in unless you feel too ill to, if you are off it will be classed on your sick record and in theory could cost you your job!
Another point on the current covid situation, during the peak pressure from the government to get vaccinated I was reading on a weekly basis that people who refused the vaccine were dieing.
They showed a few photos of them and said their last words were 'I wish I had the jabs'.
I don't see those stories anymore, seems a bit odd.

We had a lad test positive with Covid on thursday after work. The civilian staff were sent home friday till next wednesday and the MOD Staff were told it's carry on as normal. Same rest room, same close proximity to the lad infected but he had named his civvy mates as close contacts and didn't mention the rest of us. 🚾

I know someone who got pinged whilst he'd been in Tenerife for the previous 3 weeks, doesn't have the app, just a regular text message.

It seems that there's a load of scams being run using this, I suspect that's what's happening here.

Ofcom recommends you report this to: https://www.actionfraud.police.uk/

Saw on the beeb this morning that the vast majority of hospital cases are inpatients that didn’t arrive with Covid but in fact for other reasons. However as soon as they’re infected they go on the official “in-hospital with covid” list.

Beeb trying to run a balanced version of project fear but basically saying that the even latest latest variant is weak

NHS England data on the subject https://www.england.nhs.uk/statistics/statistical-work-areas/covid-19-hospital-activity/ (scroll down to the primary diagnosis supplement).

About 55% are primarily being treated for other conditions, so not "the vast majority", and that isn't to say that Covid isn't a factor in their admission either.

Still 100+ a day dying from it (not with it), explain to them how weak it is.

It's almost like the entire scheme is a complete waste of time because trying to control a virus is for the birds. Like I said two years ago.

And you were wrong then, just as you're wrong now.
You're right. The virus has been controlled. The technology worked. There aren't record numbers of infections and the money spunked hasn't contributed to soaring levels of inflation. The cost of living crisis has not sent us back to 1950s standards of living. My mistake 🙃

The first part is called vaccination, which means the case numbers aren't now leading to deaths, the second part is global and independent of anything that we have done.
