No one would begrudge him leaving for a top premier league side with wages beyond anywhere we could pay but I was watching some interviews of critch of what the club and especially the fans meant to him. So what I can’t get my head round is why hasn’t his come out and explained why he left , wished us well etc . I’d respect him for that now he’s tanking me hate him like it was just one big lie I just don’t understand it .

I'm over it and not interested about how and why

I can't help but thinking the parting was anything but amicable. Maybe BFC have asked him to say nothing until we've sorted a replacement. It is very odd, but then again Dyche still hasn't said anything after he left Burnley, albeit in different circumstances.

Can honestly say if he had a front page exclusive on the front of the gazette I wouldn’t have a look. Not bitter, he’s moved on and we hopefully will have someone in place sooner rather than later. Don’t get the interest to be honest

I don't want to get into any of this name calling. In my opinion he was our best ever coach. Working with a miniscule budget and a squad made up of League 1 League 2 and even Non League players he worked exceptionally hard to produce a squad that gave 100 per cent and more in the games that I saw. I believe he knew very well how his decision was going to hurt a lot of people and so he did a runner with his family to get away from in the bad mouthing and abuse that he has received. I have a lot of happy memories watching Critchley and his squad and prefer to remember those times. I believe he will give his explanation when he feels the time is right. But he has the intelligence to appreciate the damage he has caused.

Who cares? Quitchley's history, the future's a mystery

I think he will be a little embarrassed by everything he said just to leave because Gerrard come calling.
I don’t think we will hear much from him again. He will make a good living out of the game coaching but that’s his limitation and I think he accepts that.

I think most of that is right .

People quite rightly as he probably predicted are hurt and that is the reason for the name calling . It’s normal

I think Holloway’s achievements outweigh his though considerably . Getting to the prem when favourites for relegation. Relegation from the prem by a point on final day. Narrowly missing out on promotion in a play off final the following season . Like him or loathe him Holloway’s achievements were truly incredible bearing in mind the budget and his employers .

Sensible post imo though but I don’t think he ran off on holiday it was always planned

Critchley was an employee that received a more lucrative financial offer somewhere else, if the person he replaced was previously on £ 600,000 it will be reasonable that he will be receiving more than that given the current rate of inflation. It will probably allow him to max out his pension pot, pay off his mortgage and still give him a reasonable standard of living. There is nothing for him to gain by talking to his previous employee customers and it will not change how they feel about him. Maybe like Holloway, he felt that he had taken the club as far as he could with the resources available and it was best to leave while he was in demand.

No doubt Critch put 100% into the job, did very well with it and bought into Sadlers vision, until he didn't.

He got a better offer (for him) and did a midnight flit in a heartbeat.

I'm sure he knows that his bail out has left behind a bitter taste and that he has let down a lot of people who supported him, hence the silence.

We move on!

Wonder if the fee with Villa is still being wrangled over and no agreement has been reached so there's still things to tie up?

Villa might be telling him not to put his foot in it by saying how good things were in order to drive the fee down?

With regard to Ian Holloway I agree with every word you have written.

People have short memories. He got us back into the second tier at the first time of asking despite a sticky start. It took the Oystons 29 years to get the club back to where it was when I first started watching. Everyone has their own opinion on the circumstances around his decision to leave and the furore that followed. It could be that there was a NDA in his contract or that the respective clubs agreed some kind of NDA as part of the process. There is no comment from Critchley on the Villa website.

The no comment doesn't surprised me one bit. He doesn't exactly come across as very confrontational. He's the neighbour who crosses the street rather than say hello to you.

Your not going to get one and in any case if if you did you know he’d just say some run of the mill rubbish they all pretty much say the same thing “really happy to be here let’s kick on blah blah blah” Critchley isn’t the most straight talking bloke anyhow he’s too nice I’ll say what pleases sort of chap he won’t come out now and say what a little runt he’s been. You’ll just have to make your own conclusions up about it like most of us have innit.

The time to say anything was straight away. The moment has passed now. No hard feelings and we move on, as always. Managers come and go, but the supporters and the club remain.

Wouldn't surprise me if we never hear anything from him ever again. Would be great if we draw villa in a cup, ironically this year. Bets on he'll ring in sick that day " sorry Stevie" got a little sniffle and tummy upset, won't be able to travel with the team today....

I agree, I also think the time has passed for him to say something and I suspect us and Villa have told him just to ‘keep your head down’ as any comment will cause more drama than it solves. In my humble opinion I believe all the fist pumping and passion etc was genuine - I think he truly loved it here…..but… if your dream job (and working with someone you have a genuine connection and respect for) comes along where you can also secure you and your family financially you can’t blame him for taking it. Could he have gone about it in a better way, possibly, but now all the dust has settled I understand why he has done it and will always have my thanks for what he did for us - and the foundations he had set in place that we will benefit from in the future.

He was here two seasons, got us up, kept us up, brought in several players and improved them to a level that they're likely to make us money, and we pocketed a substantial sum when he left. We did well out of him. His leaving and the manner of it was extremely disappointing, but for me it only reflects badly on him. The club did everything they could - we recognised he was an asset and gave him a long term contract, and it's also been confirmed by Mansford that the budget will be bigger this season than last, so lack of funds isn't an excuse either. I think he hasn't commented because he knows there was nothing wrong with us as a club - it's all on him and while you have to make decisions in your own interest, he's probably just embarrassed by it.

I'm not sure we need him to say anything, we could have a pretty accurate guess of what any statement would include. I think the real damage he's done is the trust we have in our manager, and the rapport with the fans. I'm certainly not going to be taken in by any chest thumping, post match celebrations with our next manager. Nobody's loyal. It's just a job to them. It's also why I'm fine with us sacking managers when results aren't going our way, we as a club also need to look out for number one and forget about loyalty to any particular manager or player.

I’m over it now…..
he just comes over as spineless, weak and unprofessional.
He wasn’t the person to take us forward!
says more about him when the pool fans say ‘thank you’ and he says fuck all!

We move on UTMP

Nobody knows his personal circumstances, was the job too much for him? Was the final 10 games a yardstick for how he saw this coming season? had he run out of ideas? In my view he had no plan B, he always set up for the opposition and never dictated the Blackpool way of playing. We became boring to watch and to be fair I am glad he has gone. Thanks for the promotion, onwards and upwards to both parties.

Family comes first.
Not ours.
His.
Agree but you are assuming that’s the reason for him leaving .

I don’t see how his family come into this tbh do they live in Birmingham ? No

His job at Blackpool bearing in mind how highly he was thought of the length of contract and likely remuneration was more secure long term I would argue .

Where is he if he and Gerrard get potted after 3 months ?

The lure of being assistant to Gerrard as well.
Even if he gets potted he’ll find another decent job.
Family has nothing to do with location but big increase in salary.
All in my own humble opinion.
