Kenny Dougall - Message to fans

Could it have ended better from both parties perspective? Yes, it definitely could have.

However, this message is all us fans wanted to hear. He's been honest in not wanting to be here anymore, which is fair enough and something you don't often get in modern day football. Good luck to the lad. He'll always be remembered extremely fondly here, especially by those 4,000 of us who were lucky enough to watch at Wembley (and all those watching at home that day).

Better late than never. Take note NC.
Hope it works out for him over there.
NC did come out and thank fans etc, on a Villa video, but got slated as it was 'too late' for many.

NC isn't even on social media and was away on holiday.

So the criticism he gets is somewhat unfair and not consistent with how people react to players doing similar, who are actually on social media.

That not the way he should have gone about things. Shows a complete lack of class and decency, imo. To the point I think less of him now.

Dougall or NC?

You said better late than never, take note NC, yet NC did similar, a delayed goodbye, but he isn't on social media etc so not sure the difference.

People are being funny about NC leaving but not players.

NC feeble sentence on a video days later was completely inadequate and he’s admitted so. It matters not he’s not on social media - there are many ways he could and should have communicated quicker and better rather then as an afterthought whilst wearing an Aston Villa tracksuit.

Er, if he’s not on social media (which I don’t blame him for) then what other ways could he communicate
Maybe go into the ticket office, get everyone’s details and write to them personally or maybe ring them all
Nah, because that would breach data protection.
Maybe he should have gone on the PA system at BR and announced his departure or even walked around the ground with a sandwich board declaring his intentions.
Whatever he did he would have been in a no win situation because he would have got slagged off to hell by the ungrateful percentage (who call themselves supporters)who still slag him off now.
The fact he got us promoted means absolutely fcuk all to some

This. ^
Saves me typing.

Social media isn’t the only way NC could have got a message out. BFC comms team for a start. And not the Villa one.
Also we expect players to come & go, especially when they are near the end of their contract.
The head coach / manager is meant to be the responsible adult and set a good example.

He’s admitted it could maybe have been handled differently, has apologised, but the circumstances played a big part. There were some at the club apparently pretty angry at him so that avenue may have been cut off.

The funny thing is some are still upset over it. Yet a player takes nearly 2 weeks, who is actually on social media and it's all fine.

It is fine BTW, but seems hypocrisy from some. The reality is people were so upset because at the time he was loved and also he went to be a number 2.

In the timeframe Dougall had said goodbye in people had already gone berserk on social media over NC, so whatever he did after that was seen as meaningless.

Brilliant footballer; chooses to move at the right time for himself, I just wish they could have been honest from December onwards - given us a chance from our side to say thanks, through a chant etc.

The club should just say - KD after 3 and a half seasons of giving everything for the club has decided to explore his options. He might get one more appearance before he signs elsewhere.

That's not a big deal. At all.

Lastly, I think it speaks volumes he only talks about his time under NC; the other two manager were a complete disaster and often left him being the only capable midfielder on the pitch whilst playing in the Championship!

Good luck Kenny - legend.

This is a bit unlucky. You posted this before the other thread.

Doesn't explain why he never played and when the 'out of the blue' moment happened. Not that I'm bothered.
It was a little, there was nothing on the board, so went to post, but by the time I had written the title and pasted the link, his appeared, 1 min before.

The mods have now combined.

Been a very good servant to our club. Always looked as if he gave his all and will always be a big part of our fantastic record in the play offs.

All the best King Ken 👑

The lack of ambition by the club has been shown by letting him go. In my opinion he was the best player in the division
Have you read the Gazette article?

Kenny said he wanted to leave and intimated that Critchley had spoken to him about staying.

Anyway, ignore the facts and continue bashing the club by deciding it's all down to a lack of ambition.

As I said, you're getting a bit weird and obsessed.

As good is he is/was, he’s not the best player in the division. Or at the club.
Not that it matters. All the best KD, thanks for the memories

He may not be on social media himself ,but he could have used someone else's or the Gazette or any other way of getting a message out to thank the fans . That would be my primary objective before I unpacked my bags in Birmingham.

Go away stalker 👊👊

Kenny who? Rear view mirror now, hope it goes as he wants in Thailand. Enjoyed watching him play.

Classy goodbye. Thank you Kenny, that memory of Wembley in the bizarre season will live in my mind forever.

Good luck and come back and see us sometime
