I know Sheff Wed are a massive club, but they are 94 million pounds in debt…but I get that they just choose to ignore this and their fans would be up in arms if they sold a player to little old BlackpoolHey, I'm happy that we are looking at the likes of Brannagan, Dele-Bashiru and Barlaser, they are the sort of midfielder we are desperate for. The problem is their worth to Oxford, Shef Wed and Rotherham is probably more than their actual value. All 3 clubs are in decent financial shape also, so it's not so much about meeting what the player is worth, it's about offering what the club can't refuse. A very difficult balance because as we saw with Brannagan, even when you agree a fee, you still have to convince the player.

The brum penalty was the chance. Really should have took it.Hang on a minute, he's not scores his goal yet
Are you in the know or is just wild speculation, only apart from Maxwell I’d be very surprised if any of the others go this month.Madine, Dougall, Maxwell, and Husband to go before the end of the month.
I wouldn’t to be honest. Are you in the know or is just wild speculation, only apart from Maxwell I’d be very surprised if any of the others go this month.
I wasn't expecting Keogh to get much game time this season so good luck Richard and thanks.I wouldn’t to be honest.
In the short time ton has been here he’s echoing what many on here have said previously.
Madine not good enough in the championship.
Ditto for Dougall.
Ditto for Husband
Maxwell is a decent keeper but clearly doesn’t want to be a No2.
I mean they have wealthy owners who don't sell players cheap, or not least that I've seen recently. If you think Sheff Wed are in decent financial shape you need to go to Specsavers.
I'm sure there'll be benefits to it on both sides. Appleton can split that clique up as well if he fears three experienced voices having more influence than hisI wasn't expecting Keogh to get much game time this season so good luck Richard and thanks.
I suppose another season living in the hotel with Hubby and Gary is more than any man can take.
I doubt it, Appleton's a better manager than that.I'm sure there'll be benefits to it on both sides. Appleton can split that clique up as well if he fears three experienced voices having more influence than his
Isn't that what normally happensBit concerning everything Critch did being broken up,
I thought the idea was continuity. Hopefully it all works out but it’s pretty much start again from scratch by the looks
Keogh is 36 next week. I remember just playing 5-a-side at that age was a struggle after a few quick sprints. He was great for us last season but another year older at Championship level speeds is a real ask on a body that age.Bit concerning everything Critch did being broken up,
I thought the idea was continuity. Hopefully it all works out but it’s pretty much start again from scratch by the looks
The average age of the squad will start to drop not just in this window but definitely after contracts finish next summer. A group recruited under his watch who he has more confidence will listen to him and how he wants to play will be his focus. His voice has to be the loudest or he can't work.I doubt it, Appleton's a better manager than that.
Dougall = Southern. Complete lack of what he brings to this side. A bit of bite and not being bullied. Bet players hate playing against him.I wouldn’t to be honest.
In the short time ton has been here he’s echoing what many on here have said previously.
Madine not good enough in the championship.
Ditto for Dougall.
Ditto for Husband.
Ditto for 3 or 4 others if truth be known.
And Maxwell is a decent keeper let’s not kid ourselves but he clearly doesn’t want to be a No2.
He brought 2 yellows that’s about all I did notice.Dougall = Southern. Complete lack of what he brings to this side. A bit of bite and not being bullied. Bet players hate playing against him.
Dougall should be going no where and it was very clear from Reading and also Stoke what he brought to this side. Appleton hasn't said he doesn't rate Dougall, he said he was behind.
No is the answerNot sure about this one, that leaves Thorniley and Tharme as backup to Marv/Williams, is that enough when one of them's never played league football before?
Would say no unless another player coming in we don't know about yet. Or they'll be relying on Husband and Connolly as backup. Not sure about this one, that leaves Thorniley and Tharme as backup to Marv/Williams, is that enough when one of them's never played league football before?
I agree, but he then has to deliver. By all means get your own players in, but they need to be an improvement and he needs to top last season. Saying his teams do this or that is OK, but I see it as disrespectful to the squad which got promoted and then stayed up, when his team did not. Personally, I don't warm to him, but am looking forward to being persuaded by results. The average age of the squad will start to drop not just in this window but definitely after contracts finish next summer. One of his first comments about the squad when he met everyone was about some of the characters he was inheriting and he got stuck in about the youth embarrassing the older players after that Leeds pre-season game at York. He's not backwards in coming forwards until he gets it like he wants it.
Good at lowering wage bills too.
Yeah and I think you're absolutely miles off tbh.He brought 2 yellows that’s about all I did notice.
Great player in league one but struggled last season never recall him making a forward pass these days. (my opinion of course)
Won't argue with his passing, but if we are to play with 2 lightweight creatives, someone behind them has to have real bite, or we will be over run every match. He brought 2 yellows that’s about all I did notice.
Great player in league one but struggled last season never recall him making a forward pass these days. (my opinion of course)
First thing I thought....I'm sure there'll be benefits to it on both sides. Appleton can split that clique up as well if he fears three experienced voices having more influence than his
Use Williams's name please. He's a Blackpool player.Shame this as I worry about Marv and the Nobber being our mainstay centre halves
Marvs distribution is awful
That's where it'll take time again to see a reset play out. Rather than the club being able to show us with any confidence that they were always thinking one step ahead. They weren't anticipating Critchley having their pants down this summer and it's caught them out as they've swung back in the other direction again from a coach who wanted to coach and back to a manager who expects to manage.I agree, but he then has to deliver. By all means get your own players in, but they need to be an improvement and he needs to top last season. Saying his teams do this or that is OK, but I see it as disrespectful to the squad which got promoted and then stayed up, when his team did not. In the end, this is all Critchley's fault for walking out at the worst time.
to a degree yes, with all the backroom staff though that wasn't the plan, idea being we could change manager without too much upheaval.Isn't that what normally happens
Think the continuity is the youth set up.Bit concerning everything Critch did being broken up,
I thought the idea was continuity. Hopefully it all works out but it’s pretty much start again from scratch by the looks
The player with the most assists for us last year, Dougall. He brought 2 yellows that’s about all I did notice.
Great player in league one but struggled last season never recall him making a forward pass these days. (my opinion of course)
Again I'd be very surprised if there's a fee. Ipswich agreeing to take the rest of his contract in full for the season will probably do the trick like they've done with a few previously. Similar to Hardie to Plymouth, Nuttall to Scunthorpe, the lad with the teeth who went to Barrow I think.Keogh will be missed, but to get a fee for him with his injuries will be good business considering we signed him for nothing.
So we’re judging a professional footballer on your ability to do a couple of sprints at 5-a-sideKeogh is 36 next week. I remember just playing 5-a-side at that age was a struggle after a few quick sprints. He was great for us last season but another year older at Championship level speeds is a real ask on a body that age.
I read that as after a few quick pints at first tbfSo we’re judging a professional footballer on your ability to do a couple of sprints at 5-a-side
No one blinks an eyelid though if say Sheff.Wed sold a key player to Bournemouth.I know Sheff Wed are a massive club, but they are 94 million pounds in debt…but I get that they just choose to ignore this and their fans would be up in arms if they sold a player to little old Blackpool
Not always no. 12 of the 15 players who made the most appearances in the 2009/10 promotion team were already at the club when Holloway took over.Isn't that what normally happens
Scrafton said we rejected their first two bids, indicating that they'll pay a fee.Again I'd be very surprised if there's a fee. Ipswich agreeing to take the rest of his contract in full for the season will probably do the trick like they've done with a few previously. Similar to Hardie to Plymouth, Nuttall to Scunthorpe, the lad with the teeth who went to Barrow I think.
I hope we got a fee for Hardie and a decent sell-on clause !Again I'd be very surprised if there's a fee. Ipswich agreeing to take the rest of his contract in full for the season will probably do the trick like they've done with a few previously. Similar to Hardie to Plymouth, Nuttall to Scunthorpe, the lad with the teeth who went to Barrow I think.
