Let’s hope this local lady is found safe

Only the cause of death report will firmly prove the most likely outcome. Accident, suicide or murdered and dumped there.
Until then it's totally open.

The recent spate of judgemental posts are totally unnecessary and not at all helpful. This has been a widely publicised case that has particularly touched and affected people locally.

This thread has been conducted in a respectful way (without any need for moderation) and is a credit to this forum imho.

Those involved have simply sought to rationalise how such an awful tragedy could unfold and find hope of a better outcome.

As ever - your participation or not is your personal choice - as is the case for all concerned.

The daughters are 9 and 6. I dread to think what they and their friends and classmates will think when they Google search the case, which they undoubtedly will do, and come across this thread.

Is that because there is nothing else about the case in the media and the fact it hasn't been discussed across thousands of other forums, social media and main media platforms?

Really?
This thread has been largely respectful. You should see some of the other forums, YouTube, Tiktok etc., peddling horrendous accusations and character assassinations.
There’s been so much coverage, there’s no way they can keep this quiet. It’s been national and worldwide news.
Having said that, once the true outcome is known and released, I don’t really see the point of keeping this thread.

With acres and acres of national and international news, the chance of finding this board (assuming they have no history on it) is tiny.

If they ever do find it, it will read far better than some of the nasty, ill informed bile, spouted elsewhere.

This thread has been largely respectful.

Yes, immeasurably more respectful than certain sub-human individuals.
This morning an ex-Lancs Police Chief Super told Radio 4's Today that "Only yesterday there were people purporting to be the media that quite clearly weren't and they were climbing over the fence to take pictures of the body that the police were recovering. This is something else."

These twats seem to lack any shreds of civility 🤬

It’s being suggested on Facebook that a medium not dog walkers found the body

Just when you thought things couldn’t get any weirder

RIP Nicola

The media circling the wagons…I was watching Sky news and I bet sky squirmed…tv media concentrating on blaming the police and newspapers…no mention of themselves…
Just to add…BBC are replaying what both police officers said in the press release….Sky only showing first officer then cut away…..

I just hope the Coroner is gentle with the family, and delivers the cause of death as accidental drowning

A young relative of mine was found dead nearly 50 years ago. There was some question it might have been suicide, but the Coroner gave an open verdict so that spared the parents from even more distress.

They never recovered from that as he was their only child.

It' was Nicola.

Very sad.

My blood boiled when I heard the statement from the family about Sky and ITV contacting them last night - just to increase circulation and profits.

Despicable.

BBC not criticised. They should also have a go at the Home Secretary for her disgusting comments.
What's Braverman said?

RIP a sad end. I've not been a fan of this thread, hopefully the wild speculation can end now. I think the police did a good job under difficult circumstances, they clearly knew more than us and were right early on when they said she was likely in the river. Peter Faulds didn't do himself or the investigation any favours and I'd hope the likes of Suella Braverman would butt out.

I would hope the Coroner delivers a verdict on fact.

Having a go at Lancashire Police about releasing details of Nicolas problems. From what I understand the family reluctantly wanted this because some people were going to sell stories to the newspapers about Nicola.

At least these people didn't profit from it.
Ah, saw that. 'Not satisfied' with the response, but allowing the investigation to proceed.

Not prejudicing the outcome in any way there then...

I agree with your sentiments.

I'm sure, share along the lines of being in an unbalanced state of mind, but with no evidence of intent (no more that we are aware of) will leave space for precisely the outcome you suggest.

All in all, it's desperately sad.

Let's hope her girls get all the love in the world, poor things and perhaps someone can now use social media for a good purpose and get them a 'Go Fund Me' or such like to secure their future.

Let's hope they get left alone now, nothing wrong with this thread for me, but I think now is the time to delete it and let them mourn in peace and start the awful process that must be gone through to come out the other side.
