Leyton Orient v Blackpool Official Matchnight Thread 27.02.24

Orient have come a long way since AFC Fylde beat them in the FA Trophy final just four years ago. As we move towards the pointy end of the season we have to win games like this against the sides around us in the table or we can't close the gap on the top six. Play like we have on the last two Saturdays and we'll be right.

Ahhh, Orient on a Tuesday night…reminds me of the time I went in the mid-90s and we won 1-0…made famous a few months later when footage of their manager’s half-time rant to his players was shown on TV.

It was a little sweary.

We don’t travel well and our manager has often times set us up to lose with negative and predictable tactics. This is our Liverpool moment. How bad do these players and our club want to get out of this wasteland of a division?

Is that the one where’s he’s offering them out 🤣 didn’t know that was against us!
It was John Sitton with the mother of all meltdowns. You can bring your dinner!

Wow never seen that before. That was something.

Wiki: After leaving Brisbane Road, Sitton battled depression and had therapy. He spent eighteen months applying for coaching jobs without success
In 1997, Sitton began learning The Knowledge in order to become a London taxi driver, completing it in 2003 and becoming a licensed black cab driver, which Sitton does to this day.

I bet he's apoplectic driving a cab around London.

Nothing wrong with that half time chat

Looking forward to tomorrow night. It’s my first trip to Leyton Orient and it’s tied in nicely with a week working down in London. Jumping on the tube to get to bed will be a damn site nicer than the last train or a 5hr coach journey !

Taking a spurs fan from work tomorrow too in the hope he reciprocates at some point 😂

I would still started with the 11 who started if lavs and coulson fit... but has to be this or 2nd half team... no inclusion of connolly, CJ, virtue etc. Just stick with a winning team ffs... and same tactics. 🤞
He’s said that virtue. Connolly and Carey are in contention for tomorrow night
They didn’t make the squad on Saturday
I just wish he’d start the same team instead of changing it all the time.

Injuries might force a change and Rhodes will be back soon

Him changing all the time disrupts rhythm and understanding. It also demotivates players . Team should be merit based than an imaginary chess game between two third division clubs. Play your best players in their best positions in a formation they can thrive in. It’s not rocket science.
100%

I certainly do feel like one of the main reasons behind the team selection is to try and spread the load and avoid injuries. To be fair I’ve never known a season where we’ve had so few injuries so in that regard it’s worked. However, the trade off is a lack of rhythm and building any form of momentum. If we go on a run now, perhaps Critch’s strategy is vindicated with a freshness in the squad. I for one would rather he didn’t chop and change so much though.

At what price? Some injuries are bad luck some are your style of play (Lavery and kouassi) some are you’re good and a step slower than you used to be (Rhodes). Some just take em out (Not yet but will happen to Dembele)

Rhodes got studs to his ribs, sounds more like dangerous play from an opponent rather than any slowness on his part.

He’s a brave, honest player for sure, I sometimes wished he would look after himself a bit more and not get stuck in as much.

I'll hold my hand up and say I thought the season was over, but after Bolton?

If we play a winning team that must be growing in confidence, then we have a chance of turning them over, but if Critch tinkers, leaves our most creative on the bench again and we get beat, then we're back to square one..

The big question is whether he will keep Dembele or revert to a more solid midfield trio that of Morgan, Norburn and Byers.

Let’s not hope that Mr Hyde comes out tonight… midweek, evening game, away in the capital… desperately need back to back wins to stand a chance.

have paid for the official live stream and am logged into my account - i refreshed the page several times and cannot see the video link on the page. I have also logged out and back in still no joy - Is anyone else having the same problems???

I'd take 4 from 6 so let's get the 3 banked. Orient are weird, bit like us, depends which team turns up.
