MAMMAS RISTORANTE TOPPING ST

i can say nobody in my team was semi - pro. Bandy was spotted playing in the final by Mike Mckenzie and went to him at Hyde United. I do know that the team we played in the final were stocked with semi pro players and it was quite a surprise we won , i was especially pleased on a personal level as i bagged the winner in a 3-0 victory..😉
No I wasn't suggesting you had a team of ringers, the two teams we played in the semi finals certainly did, I recall some bloke in the crowd saying to one of our opponents as we entered the pitch "F@ck me Tommy, since when have you played Sunday footie", to which the lad smiled and rubbed his fingers in a money counting gesture.

Did they used to have a football team? Remember knocking them out of the north west champions cup on our way to becoming the only cheshire team to ever win it….
What was the name of your team and what year - remember getting beaten playing for Mamas in Chanpions Cup the year we won the Lancashire Cup 🤷‍♂️

Hi Rox, we were called IAS and played in Bollington near macclesfield, think it was 1998/9
Shootz, it was November 20th 1994 when we travelled to Macclesfield and lost 4-3 to your team IAS, so a bit earlier than you recall. We had just won back to back LFA titles in 1993-1994 and an amazing 7 trophies in those two seasons so we were without doubt the top side in Lancashire at that time. Well done in going on and winning the cup, for the reasons mentioned we didn't quite manage to claim that prestigious crown. Rox you would definitely have played in that one, you were our box to box midfielder at the time. 😉

Sorry Raging but I have just found the photo of the team that won and it states 1997/1998 on the bottom!

That may be true but I've kept my all my diaries since 1990 and in the 1994 one it has us playing IAS on 20th November so it was definitely then when we played you, you obviously won the cup that year but didn't play us. Rox correctly recalls the game and in 1997/98 he was no longer with us.
Had a chat with the club secretary and Bandy about this, their recollection and mine are the same, we won 5-4 in 97/98 however the secretary remembers losing 1-2 at your place and thinks it was around 1994 ( before my time!)

Shootz, Got it!! I've checked my diaries and the answer is we did indeed play you twice, we won at Common Edge in 1994 and the game you're referring to was on 1st Feb 1998 in Macclesfield and you won a thriller 5-4. Great times pal.

phew! i was wondering if i had dreamt it all! As i said we might of been lucky to go through, from memory we raced into an early 2 or 3 lead only for you to pull it back and Bandito got a late winner. Also seem to remember your team coming back to "our" pub for a slurp afterwards which not every team seemed to do even in our own league. Top memories .

Yeah glad we managed to get to the bottom of it, we always made a big thing about going back to our opponents boozer in the LFA or Champions Cup (we went back to some right shit holes too!!), we usually booked a coach for away games and had a right good team bonding session, for all the success we had as a team, I always made a big thing about having a beer post game and found other teams really enjoyed having us back at their place for a beer and bit of banter, sadly I don't think that tradition is done quite so much nowadays.

Can’t wait to try it, not been for years! Menu looks good to me but disappointed there is no Lasagna as that’s how a judge an Italian restaurant on first visit. Mamma Mia, Non ci crido!

Mammas and Tony Hadley concert review

Visited Mamma's last weekend with Mrs H and my eldest son.

Mamma's was generally a big disappointment: Menu was Lytham-esque and struggled to find anything on the starters/entrees to choose from.
Service was erratic at best with owner and staff running around like headless chickens.
Waiter pleaded with us not to order the Carbonara as it had no cream like traditional Carbonara.
Struggled to get a drink.
£110.00 for 3 of us for a starter/main each and a couple of drinks.

Will not be returning unless the menu changes drastically and includes all the Italian favourites we all love and enjoy.

Just my humble opinion. I'm not a moaner or complainer. I just don't go back.

Tony Hadley was superb and belted out a string of Spandau ballads and hits. 'Through the Barricades' 'Gold' and 'True' all delivered brilliantly. Great TH Band including a trumpet and saxophone player.

There is no cream anywhere near a traditional Italian carbonara. Waiter is talking rubbish.

Yeah I haven't been but looked at the menu and said early in the thread it's very limited.

A shame as I would have gone.

It's not rocket science is it to get a menu people will like....

They 's probably be better doing the old favourites with modern social media marketing campaign

People would flock from all over for good traditional italian food.

As it stands people might go once and not return but i havent got a clue tbf

The now missus fcb fell through the floorboards (no, she wasn't that thin, the board gave way) back in the day. Da Vinci's was another institution. I had a table booked for 8 and we didn't get seated till gone 10. Whilst being pissed off it did mean she had to stop over😉

Lytham menu on Topping Street isnt going to work.

Should have kept the old menu and decor. Well established clientele the backbone of the business.
Said this early on in the thread about the menu, maybe it wasn't doing the numbers and attracting people.

We used to go every week as a family when we were kid’s, we used to go to winstons pizzeria in the square as well loved mammas 2.
Yep we used to go as kids after swimming in St Annes baths weekly I think. Loved it and everyone raided the mint imperials on the way out, kept in a trophy 🏆
