Manager Shortlist

His contract was always to protect Blackpool and give us good compo for him leaving and it's done just that

Agreed, the club statement said we had reached an agreement with Villa, so a compensation package was undoubtedly given to us, with Critchley's contract being so long I can honestly see us having got a couple million from Villa (which is a drop in the pond for them), which will absolutely help in the search for the next manager along with funding a transfer or two for whoever comes in next.

It's time to be ambitious again.

Another manager who prioritizes youth and player development who maybe is a bit better at managing Final third production.

This next appointment will tell us A LOT about Mansford, Sadler, and everyone else managing the club.

Maybe the next manager is already at the club!

Owner Simon Sadler said:

“Our primary focus now turns to succession planning and making the best possible appointment to continue taking this great Club of ours forward.”

Succession planning is the process of identifying and developing potential future leaders and senior managers, as well as individuals, to fill business-critical roles. The aim is to be able to fill key roles effectively if a current post holder leaves the organisation.

Embarrassing? I'm just commenting on something Sadler said himself about squad funding, pal. Sort your thinking out.
I thought about what I posted and stand by it.I am more interested in the long term development and legacy for the club that has been part of me for over 60 years than being upset by the fact the owner makes a statement basically saying we aren’t going to throw money away for the sake of it.
Each to their own but leave your insults to those who don’t care about the club.

I’m not sure if it’s my head or my heart that wants Evatt but I think I’d love it.

Lee Carsley could be a good shout, current England U21 manager will have good connections also.

Think Dyche is out of reach and the football isn’t great to watch, albeit can’t deny it’s not successful. Ainsworth please God no.

Who heard of Critch before we appoint him? I think we learnt our lesson appointing Grayson and whoever is appointed will be well measured, considered and for the right reasons. Any appointment is a gamble, but whoever it is gets my full backing, as Critch did.

Your last paragraph is embarrassing…..best check how much the owner has already put in….Simon is in my opinion building for the future when the likes of me are probably long gone….but even six foot under still Tangerine.
Sums up the world we now live in where patience is some kind of sin.
I understand your plea for patience but practically Voy may be right.

I’ve not had time to read through all the posts so l apologise if already mentioned, but what about the Welsh Fella! After all he’s been very critical about the Crithmeister since October 2020 and maybe he was right after all, either that or the Critch never listened to his advise!

Insults? If there's any insults I think it was you to me tbh. You've massively over reacted too. I was making a simple point about Sadler saying we won't be spending much on the squad and how that might possibly affect whoever manages the squad. That's all. I agree about the long term investment. I think your misreading possibly. But it would be a shame to head back to L1 tbh. The team is important.

I think many of the managers listed on here will not be interested when they see the budget they have to work with. As far as players in, we are at the bottom of the pecking order after the other Championship and some Division One clubs have decided who and who they do not want.

Not really, if he doubted himself or the club why sign for five years?
It works both ways. Clubs sign managers for 5 years then sack them after one. Everyone knows the 5 years might not happen. But the club will get compensation off Villa for the tears not served. So what right have we to complain? None.

Pardew has just quit CSKA after their fans racially abused their own players, They could appoint him if the other 20+ turned it down. :)

Think my point was to leave your insults to those who don’t care about the club.I know having been on here and the previous site I know you are certainly not that.Yes team investment is important but and I hasten to add not you there are far too many who expect money to just be thrown at it rather than sensible development. We have come a long long way since the Oystons were ousted and for that I am extremely happy.

Me too. I've never demanded spending from the club. Ever. It's not what I do. The club needs to invest in a training ground. I'm only wondering whether we need to balance things up a bit, because staying in this division seems important to me, and it won't be easy. To find 30m and then say nothing is going in the squad seems s bit odd and maybe not the best way forward. But I'm only debating it not criticising anyone or demanding anything. I don't know the whole picture, and it's not my money.

Embarrassing? Not really. Huge pay rise. Simples. And gets to coach Coutinho, Buendia, McGinn, Mings, Ings, Chukwuemeka etc. In luxury surroundings. And not have to do TV etc. I think it suits him. It tells us about Critch, not our club leadership.

When Sadler said there would be limited funds for next season, though, it felt uncomfortable to me, Critch could have felt his task would be a tough one. 30m for buildings but nowt for the squad. He may have gone Villa regardless but how much incentive was there to stay?
Largely agree with this. But did Sadler say there’s going to be limited funds in apublic forum? Can’t say I remember him being that explicit about it.

But now he's more chance of being fired without actually being able to directly influence results as the manager.

Team manager is undoubtedly the most influential appointment in the fortunes of a football team and in recent years we have had plenty of examples of how bad things get with the wrong man in charge. There are some reasonable suggestions on here but also some very poor clueless ones too.
It is Simon Sadler`s most critical decision of all those he has to make which will have a huge impact on where we go from here.

I wish him well. He cannot afford to get this wrong.

Yeah. But he's not arsed about that. He's excited about coaching a premier league team and he doesn't have to be the front man and the coach.

Cant this of the right word but I hope Keogh is involved somewhere.

I think he's got good organisation, he knows what's expected in terms of quality football, would have the respect of the current players, and could harness the overall spirit because he's played a season in it.

In isolation, I'd imagine that it is unlikely that a manager of a Championship club would leave to become an assistant elsewhere.

Looking at this move specifically, we have a manager of a smaller Championship club moving to work with a very respected figure in the game, a man that he has previously worked under, work which probably got him his opportunity with us.

That's before we even compare his remuneration as Blackpool manager and Villa assistant, I couldn't tell you what he earned at Blackpool or what he will earn at Villa but I'd be struggling to believe that he's taking a pay cut.

I have no problem with Critchley, I didn't think he was good as some on here suggested when we were winning and I certainly didn't think he was a bad as some suggested after a few bad results, far better personnel have left us in the past and plenty more will do so in the future.
That’s the most sensible post I’ve read on the subject, thank god for some reasoned perspective. 👍

Can’t see anyone on bookies list that fits the bill. Sure it will be a left field choice. Probably someone we haven’t heard of. Think Emma Hayes is a good shout but maybe a step too far.
