It's a good point about the fans forum

I haven't seen any question about the McCarthy appointment

And to think the SLO wouldn't let us know what the questions were before the meeting

Surely there should have been one about why the fcuk the club went for a proven long ball merchant given the players we had

Absolute bollocks.

No disrespect to Dobbie, but he has done NOTHING to suggest he might work at that level. It would be a gamble, like every other decision we have been making of late.
A positive gamble on people who know the club the players and the set up and had been associated with BFC success in the past… as opposed to a massive negative gamble on a manager that hadn’t won a competitive game in eons playing shit football and had been out of work for a long time.

But we don't need to gamble.

We are all but relegated. We have the rest of the season to interview options?

Why gamble on an ex player with no experience in League Management, or other reason to suspect he would be a good appointment?

Yep, of course it was a huge gamble, but we were in a shit situation with games running out fast.

There wasn't a lot wrong with how we played, we just needed fans back onside and a bit more solidity.

But a positive gamble as opposed to going for long ball that we as fans know, doesn't suit us.

We have a fan owner.... who on Appleton and McCarthy, doesn't seem to see what us fans see.

Yep, was the question even asked.

Pretty sure it was one of LA1's questions put on here, that seemed to cover all bases we needed to ask.

With a fan owner you'd expect us to know what type of manager will fit our players.

Time for Sadler to tell MM to go for it, you pay his wages Simon, you call the tune. There’s nothing to lose now so just have a go

He was apparently telling Appleton that attacking football was his remit and that had little effect on the pitch. If we are wanting experience plus go for broke football management we had better ring Holloway quick sticks to capitalise on the remaining home games.

I doubt there’ll be a change of manager yet, first of all there’s still a chance we can get out of this, pretty slim I know, second, if they’re going to change it’ll be for whoever is going to be manager next season and he would have to be prepared to see out this season and to manage in division one next year.

There won't be but there should be, the bloke is utterly useless

And his mate Mansford was peddling the exact opposite story all through non turbulent times. We had a list that was constantly looked at was the quote when asked what pamphlet guy was actually bringing to the club.

Dobbie and Thommo in now. Restore some semblance of positivity and attacking football and see if we can escape from footballing Alcatraz
Thommo wouldn't leave Oldham without a longer contract than until the end of the season, so you can scrub that name off your list.

Look where not gambling after Appleturd left has got us and we gambled on Quitch with no real management experience.

Every decision is a gamble of some kind or other whether manager or player. You can try and improve your odds though.

Restricting ourselves to ex players (or ex managers) is probably unwise.

I don't think MM is setting the team for a 0-0.

He's setting us up to soak up the pressure, not concede any goals, then catch them on the break with a goal against the run of play. If Yates had scored that chance then the plan would have got off to a good start.

But, the overall ability level of this team is not good enough to follow any plan. If one player makes a mistake a good team can recover. This team is full of mistakes one after the other. This is a broken team.

I'm just looking forward to next season with a new manager, a new recruitment policy, and a new team. After today's performance I wouldn't keep many of this team - but that discussion is for another thread.

We didn't create anything, the Yates chance was from a long Maxi ball wasn't?

It’s been an epic clusterfuck season really. I just hope it does us good in the middle term - we recover, get back up to the Championship and know what it takes to stay in it and more.

Like in business when you lose a large account and realise you took everything for granted and will not make that mistake a second time
Chunky, having read the minutes of the supporters groups meeting, especially the finance section, it's clear that the playing budget won't grow (& is likely to shrink with relegation). So maybe we should just accept that we're a L1 club (hopefully no lower). As long as we're competing & not being humiliated on national tv, does it really matter who we play??
I'm gutted after watching that rubbish today, but no there's point in me being angry.

Good post that.
Yates miscontrolled the ball at a crucial time & I bet he won't sleep tonight.
The defence were good, but two individual mistakes, in not closing down, cost us 2 goals. Both our fullbacks gave their attackers too much space - Sunday league stuff that.
Only a couple or three of our contracted players would attract interest from fellow Championship clubs & several of the others will struggle in L1.
Roll on the end of the season & a professional re build for the next.

Let’s face it, few of us were happy with his appointment, but most of us thought if anyone can keep us up it’s him. How wrong were we
The problem is since he was appointed he has been more inflexible than Appledick and no one could have anticipated that.
The reason Applehead had to go was trying to fit players into a system which this idiot has taken to a whole new level.

Once again he thinks CJ is the answer who clearly proved once again he is not a footballer.

Any manager that picks him in his squad in this league has to go.

Anyone giving grief to those skilful footy players for driving off last week after not being selected with CJ selected need to adjust the people they are having a go at.

At 62 years old I would walk away if CJ was in front of me in the team.

FUCK OFF 🦖 AND TERRY DACTYL 🦖⚽
TERRY DACTYL made me laugh, not as much as CJ's decision to start playing rugby on the touchline though!

Does anyone know how much it would cost to sack the dinosaurs? Here's what we know MM ain't going to keep us up and isn't playing two of our best players In Pov and Fio. Fo sack him off and yes get Dobbie/Thommo in. It's a free hit for them and they can't be worse and might actually pick our strongest team which we haven't seen play yet. It might even sink into some people's brains on this board that when Fiorini plays we win more games.

Nothing compared to the cost of certain relegation as it stands.

Set us up again not to score goals and to just hang on ......

Football from the 1980s with 6 defenders in the starting line up

Go now, and take TC with you

We couldn't score in a brothel...
We must be an oppositions dream to play against because we defend like we’re playing Man City away in the cup. When we do push out because we have to its like a turkey shoot , I can’t remember seeing a team so easy to beat 😞

I've no idea who is available in our price range but if I was a betting man I'd guess we'll be appointing someone who hasn't managed a League team before.
We'll be looking for a "type" not a personality.
Yet people will be happy with that but weren't for Dobbie with an experienced number 2, as a rescue mission at the time with unique circumstances needing to hit the ground running with little time for learning players.

Despite our best and only success being with a complete novice and Critchleys best moments came with an experienced number 2.

Never mind MM, my lad messaged me and said the players got some terrible stick when they went over to the fans at the end and rightly so.

Garbutt, CJ and Carey should he nowhere near the starting team at the moment

Especially when we have players like Poveda, Fiorini and Patino who aren't getting a sniff
Agree about CJ and Garbutt. Carey is a bit better but his best position seems to be just behind Yates. He's proved throughout the season he can't run the midfield and starting him today alongside Connolly was never going to work. I'm sure Mick will work that out in another 7 games.
We'll have to go back to 4-2-3-1 on Tuesday.
Maxwell
Gabriel Nelson Thorniley Husband
Dougall Patino
Bowler Poveda Lyons
Yates

Carey is clearly ineffective in central midfield because it’s not his best position. He should’ve played with Jerry further up like he did last week, with Dougall in the middle.

Beggars belief how Dougall was dropped after the fighting performance he put in last week.

A long ball from the keeper to a nippy striker capable of scoring a solo goal has an element of creativity. Maxi and Yates have previous for this.

I agree that starting Fiorini and Poveda would increase our creativity and our chances of winning. I would rather get demoted in a blaze of fireworks rather than a with a fizzlw from a damp squib. Give us something to cheer, and help us decide which players are fit to wear the shirt next season.

It beggars more belief that Patino didn't play, we obviously didn't do much scouting on Bristol City as they didn't even play with a holding midfield player today

King and Scott are both ball players and we didn't once get at them

Lazy, shameful tactics again

Personally don’t think Patino would’ve been very effective if we’re just lobbing balls about and bypassing midfield, but I totally agree that the tactics are poor.

It’s one thing setting up like that against a team like Burnley, but when there’s teams which are there for the taking, it’s inexcusable to play so negatively.

Send McCarthorse back to the pasture he was led out of of by an incompetent bungling fool to complete our descent back to L1. Plenty of fresh oats for him, a load of fresh horse shit for us.

Why didn't they play last week then?
I think because they left the ground last week because they weren’t in the squad so he’s disciplined them and left them out today.
Ridiculous they should at least have been on the bench last Saturday.
Like you say not tall enough for MM, skill isn’t taken into account!

I asked Poveda on Monday if he would be playing this weekend and he shrugged as if to say I doubt it

I also asked him why he wasn't selected against Burnley and he said he had no idea

Kenny Dougall was also stood there looking really uncomfortable

Can anybody on this planet actually think that CJ Hamilton should be higher up the pecking order than Poveda?
