Lavery, Carey, Bowler all very very good, can’t be bothered scoring the others they were decent though, I just don’t like grimshaws distribution sometimes, he messes around and puts our defence under pressure

some harsh mark for James who most certainly did "not grow into the game". He started the game brilliantly. i was sat directly opposite where he was operating from in that first half and he was the link between the defence/keeper and our forward thinking players. Always wanting the ball off the keeper and defence even when facing his own goal and he never gave it away and was extremely composed on the ball.

Mostly 7s and 8s which seems about right.

all about opinions. Don't mind the 7's or 8's by those who've given them if they are comparable with some of the others in the set of marks given by people. In some cases I don't think they are. Especially the sevens when maybe apart from Hamilton it's the lowest mark. Just my view but James was outstanding in that first half.

Yep, has to be said that I thought James did really well last night. Dropped into space to receive the ball well and moved it up the pitch nicely at times. Completely different performance from the weekend. James is one of three players (along with Connolly & Husband) to play every minute this season so it’s possible he may be on the bench this weekend but will be interesting to see where he plays if indeed he does start or makes an appearance off the bench.

Alongside the ratings I’m also keeping track of goals, assists and minutes played across the season. All data which can be used as things progress to look at various bits and bobs. Hopefully we can get some useful insights from it all.

Anymore ratings from last night? We had 11 at the weekend and 11 again last night, be good to get these numbers higher if possible.

Summary/Results coming tomorrow morning (Friday 13/08).

The results are in. Thanks to the 12 (+1 on the Bristol City ratings) who submitted their ratings.

On average across all players we had a rating of
7.65 out of 10. If we take out those that played less than 60 minutes (Ward, Dougall, Anderson & Yates) this rises to 7.9 out of 10. The lowest scorer was CJ Hamilton with a rating of 6.17, even Yates, who played less than 10 minutes scored higher (6.18). The two highest rated individuals from the Bristol City game again came out on top. These were of course Josh Bowler (7.36 vs Bristol City, 8.92 vs Middlesbrough) and Shayne Lavery (8.23 vs Bristol City, 9.42 vs Middlesbrough). Surely both are a shoe in for the match against Cardiff City on Saturday?

Elsewhere
Big Marv impressed in defence with a rating of 8.29 and perhaps put himself in with a big chance of keeping his place in the centre of defence for the weekend. Whilst I've already mentioned Bowler (who was the highest scoring midfielder) it's also worth mentioning Sonny Carey whom seemingly impressed with a rating of 8.33. Not bad for a 20 year old from Non-League.

The lowest average ratings came from @voyeur, @Grayth and @poolseasider who all scored
7.21 on average whereas @Poppajoe scored highest with an average score of 8.14.

Cheers, good job.

I'm keeping my feet on the ground. People get a touch carried away by some attacking football in the Carabao. 🤣

Which was immensely enjoyable and very encouraging.

That seems sensible. It’s very easy, as fans, to get carried away and not take certain things into consideration. 😅

Yeah Bowler and Lavery were inspirational. Other players did their jobs, played their parts to the tune of 7 or 8.
