More feckwitery

Not political point scoring with the point about goggles at all. It's a very relevant point about stock-piling PPE which the real political point scorers have moaned about endlessly.
25m goggles were purchased by Gordon Brown in 2009 against a 2001 standard which has been superceded. Standards change all the time so is actually sensible stockpiling huge quantities of anything that might be out of date when you come to use it?

Just this
Will Cat appear now he might realise we are not the only country having problems getting to grips with this virus? Whereas the o/p might have a point with some of what he says, if pool is right in what the o/p said, then yep it's political point scoring from some-one with a sick mind. It's sad and tragic that anyone dies from this virus. No matter who they are.
We are not the only country having problems.
We are however one of the only countries with a government so incompetent that it has screwed up virtually every decision it has had to (eventually and forced to by public opinion) had to make.
Other countries have taken responsibility for the mistakes when they occur too, but not our cabal of blame shifting, figure fiddling politicians.

Can you show me the correct way these figures should be counted as it seems to me from what I read that different countries have different methods.

And the 25m goggles that Gordon Brown's government bought in 2009 to meet the 2001 standard had already changed. Government incompetence isn't exclusive to the Conservative party.

Go on then ,I'll politically point score. I'll be glad when this crisis is over because then we can get back to what this message board was created for. Football! There's a good few on here who have never contributed much with regards to that. They just never seem to post on football, both now and in the past. Can't wait to be rid of you.

Then why the feck are you on this forum, 20s? Go away. It was created specifically because of complaints from people like you that they did not think AVFTT was suitable for politics/CV. Why don’t you go and quarantine yourself on the AVFTT forum, post about football and leave the rest of us in peace? Pretty please... with sugar on top.

So Boris coming back and saying what a great success the Government's handling has been is not political point scoring? Just wondering...
Of course it's point scoring. Politicians are always point scoring. It's their job to make themselves look good and their opposition bad. It's the 'experts' and numpties on social media that annoy me. There's no shortage of them who seem to know what it takes to defeat a pandemic and run a country. I'm looking forward to a few of them standing for parliament at the next election.

Everyone has the right to express a political viewpoint. Some of us are scientists too. I am active in local politics (not where you live, I suspect). It’s not as if one has to qualify as a Chartered Politician like accountants do. That’s freedom of speech and democracy for you.

There's also something about calling out absolutely common sense ideas which aren't being taken up, whether isolating people arriving into the country or getting decent PPE in.

Plus not spinning when you're bound to be caught out. Claiming a billion gloves had been supplied, implying it was pairs when it wasn't. A basic check was all it took to make Hancock look a chancer.

A scientist and a politician. I'm impressed 😉

Archie, you really must do better than that. Here's a few points for you to get your head around.
Firstly, I've not complained to anyone. Officially or unofficially. I've simply made my point.
Secondly, if you look at the thread on the other forum you'll see that I commented that I was in favour of leaving it as just one forum, not two like it is now. So, yep, you've got that wrong too.
Thirdly, the title of this forum says it's for politics and CV. So yep, as this CV epidemic affects the lives of millions of people irrespective of their political persuasion so I think it's of great interest to me. You see, I'm more interested in the humanity of what's happening than political point scoring like you and a good few others. Who knows when this will all end and how many people around the world will have died and suffered from this dreaded disease. That's something I care about but if you want to carry on solely looking at it from the political pov, then that's fine. But, I'll be around to pull you up on it, so get used to it.
Fourthly, maybe your later post about being a scientist and a politician sums up my third point assessment pretty well.

20's, how can you be so flippant with a man who is a scientist and a politician? I just thought wow when I read that. A man with that talent and ability deserves more respect. 😉
