Morgan Rogers

Not sure what wow means. Rogers would be an excellent signing for sure. He's too good for L1 though surely, if he was available he'd attract Championship interest.
He would be picked for nearly every match for us, could be off the bench at most Championship teams.
So he will develop far quicker here, he comes across as a very sensible young lad, so this point would not be lost on him.

He'd be a very good signing, but I'm sure we're not the only ones who can see the lads potential and I'd be surprised if he didn't end up in the Championship next season. He looks like one of those young players who has bags of potential, seems to have a great attitude and is just waiting for something to click, then all of a sudden it does and he's a quality player. Reminds me a bit of Matt Phillips in that sense.

He'd get higher wages at a Championship club and start regularly IMO. He was improving rapidly with Dobbie in charge.

Wages are only part of the equation, I remember seeing pictures of him just after relegation was confirmed and he was genuinely gutted.
If he believes Dobbie(if appointed) will massively help his career in the long term we have a chance.

It's not impossible but it's unlikely i think. He won't come back cos he was gutted about relegation, and he won't see Dobbie as the guy he must entrust his development to.

Believe he's on a decent wage package at City so maybe out of price our range?

Would love it if we managed to sign him but can only imagine there will be some championship clubs monitoring him.

He was a threat down the middle with his pace. Missed some very easy chances though. Maybe that's why he's preferred out wide

Bags of potential
yep, that's how I'd see it too. A long way to go before you'd say he was a wow signing. In his time with us, he spent a lot of the time on the bench and when he played he was more miss than hit. But he's young with time on his side and in a team that didn't struggle to the extent we did when he was with us and a team that played to his strengths he has the potential to become a very good player.

Would love to have him back next season but think I’m being a tad too optimistic thinking this could happen. Having said that he played for Lincoln in league one in 2022

I’d be over the moon if we signed him, but I don’t expect to be. He’ll be a top Champ player very soon and I could see him having a Matt Phillips type career in and around the Prem.

Would be a great signing, but we need to be realistic about who we are able to sign. We don't want any more transfer fiascos - ambitiously going in for a player, who then chooses to move elsewhere and we're left high and dry with no apparent back-up plans. We also do not need a massive re-build, otherwise that's next season down as yet another season of transition. We have a solid base now in terms of the youth academy and the development squad, and we need to start bringing players through, otherwise what's the point in having that infrastructure in place?

The retained list of players is also a very good squad for League 1 already and only needs tweaking. I'd also offer deals to the four out of contract players and see where that gets us. If we do end up selling some players, it should be for the right reasons - i.e. the right price coupled with respecting a player's career development and/or the Head Coach is convinced that the player is not a good fit for the squad next season.

I get the impression that some of the posters on here get excited at wholesale change, because it generates interest, which it does of course, but it also contributes to instability. Food for thought!

We've lost most of our attacking threat if we are honest. Especially if/when Yates leaves.

Rogers, Bowler, Fiorini, Anderson, Poveda, Patino, Madine.

So, while we have a good basis of a squad, theres also a significant job to do to build a side that creates and scores goals. Like a whole new front 4, probably, if Yates goes.

He is a WOW from me
He needed that goal at Norwich now He will gone to score loads
The dream Jerry and Rodgers 40 goals between them

Not sure how much we have in the kitty but a year left on his deal and apparently on 19k a week may be a tad out of our price range in Lge1.
Another loan would be brilliant if we can afford the fee.

Be really suprised if someone that is so far from the first team is on 1 million a year.Even Brannagan is on less.

I'd love to keep him, and play him every week. But I see his best position as attacking width. Morgan did his best as a stand in CF, and he shoed some good play, but yes as stated his finishing did let him down sometimes.

He creates things out wide though, got the strength and skill to get through tight situations. If we have our CF selection sorted properly, I'd sooner he was providing for them.

As others have said we have lost our most skilled attacking players, but the remains of the squad is looking ok. Some of the loaned out players returning may surprise us, all of them are young in their careers. Casey for instance will be stronger and is of good pedigree.

I have always, thought he should be an out and out striker rather than the winger he was brought in as.
He is very new to that transition but would you consider him to be a Wow signing?
Well, I’ve looked in the AVFTT dictionary and a ‘wow signing’ is defined as ‘a player who does not sign for Blackpool’ so no…

As for Rogers, I’d take him. Say to City, and him: you can go for another loan in the Championship and risk having another Bournemouth-like spell, or you can come here where you know the territory and we’ll all benefit as your value builds up.

Still can’t see it tho.

Those reputed wages for loanees might also be part of the problem last season.
Poveda was rumoured to have an attitude and if there’s inexperienced kids coming into the squad on 4 times the average wage of many of the players or even higher then that will cause divide

But who is there left at the club to say that to city / Rogers?

In L1 his value won't build particularly fast. In fact probably very slowly as he'd be seen as having had 2 loans in the Cship and now has to resort to L1.

If it was me I'd say to City that we'll buy him but you have a massive sell on (75%? reducing to maybe 50% after 2 seasons) or a buy back clause (with built in can't buy back to sell).

I'd be very surprised if he comes on loan.

That’s more what I was meaning, really. Low fee but a big cut of the profit going to City and to him, and then the impetus is on him to make the most of it. Would probably still need City to pay up some of his contract however… so it’s a stretch

Trybul is (apart from 30mins…..ish) an unknown to me.
I’ve a terrible feeling that Eki wiil jump ship to another Championship club and……..
yes, he’ll get a good pay rise. I won’t blame him.
Trybul is an unknown to me too but his cameo suggested a good midfielder.

I hope this doesn’t go the way of Ellis Simms for some on here. I like him too, especially in the last couple of games, but he did not score enough, so happy to have him but not wow factor for me.

Now Paul Mullins from Wrexham would be a wow signing for me - for all sorts of reasons

Which is why it won’t happen 🤣
