Mr. Johnson Snr.

Boris Johnson's dad is applying for French citizenship. He's no idiot.
What's wrong with that I used to have Spanish citizenship no big deal took about 2 weeks to sort out and that was nearly 30 years ago and pre computers.

Maybe it will make those who live abroad pay something into the country's system as a lot pay sod all you wouldn't expect you bins and roads swept here with out paying council tax.

I don't know why you would assume what I said was pejorative, on the contrary I said he is no idiot.

Who gives a shit. Why is this even news.

I think it's newsworthy as it shows that he categorically disagrees with his son on Brexit and is publicly showing allegiance to Europe and their French lineage. Not important no but as newsworthy as anything else.

He's got a house in France and Greece will he be applying for a Greek passport or is this a way round of being told the max amount of days able to stay in one country. 🤔

There has been a great deal of brain drain to Europe over recent years from the UK. I personally know 2 couples who are degree educated who have left to live in France and Germany due to Brexit. I also know some Indian doctors who say the next generation of doctors from their country no longer find the UK an appealing destination and instead are looking to study and work in more welcoming countries. A lot of EU nurses returned home and stopped applying for roles here too (how we could do with them now).

The best and brightest, whether that be homegrown or foreign skilled workers, will go where the best opportunities are and we are no longer seen as that destination.

Bollocks we'll be able to recrute from the whole whole world and not just Europe people will always want to live in UK despite your anti British stance.

At least Johnson has been consistent in his opposition to ‘Brexit’ unlike one unnamed hypocrital Brexiter on here who has announced he has recently acquired an Irish passport!

And ? In other news my mum like Brussel sprouts and I don’t.

The reason it is news is because his son was the main architect of Brexit albeit for opportunistic reasons rather than out of belief.

As I understand you have your own special place where you receive the 'real news' so you may not have seen it on there.
Look, Boris was and probably still is a remainer, but his JOB was to carry out the will of the voting public and that’s what he’s done. Whatever the blokes father thinks about that has got nothing to do with the other. Therefore it’s not newsworthy.

I am not anti-British. I am concerned at the downward direction it has taken and pointing out some of the issues that will need to be addressed.

These are true stories I have experienced at first hand. There have been articles in the press on these themes if you care to research.

The world is full of opportunities and I'm afraid Britain is currently seen as hostile place. Your response to me is a prime example of that.

So your not anti British? That’s a joke right?
Because reading your comments over the past week or so tells me differently.

Well that's strange because I know a family from Ireland who have moved to the UK to live and work. What does that mean? Absolutely nothing. Same as your post really.

Your constant sniping posts about Britain tell me otherwise.
I repeat people from around the whole world not just Europe will always want to come and live in this wonderful country maybe some who've been blocked from the Commonwealth also.

Yes, many people will but BHOK's comment is reasonable. The feeling amongst Europeans, that the UK is not a welcoming place for them, has grown precisely because of Brexit. It's a point worth commenting on.

I would challenge this point.
My friend is Spanish and has a regular slot on drive time radio on a Barcelona based station.
He lives in the Uk now (last 3 years) and has stated openly on radio that he feels much more welcome here than he does as a Catalan in Spain dominated by Madrid.
It’s too easy to make sweeping statements like this - all of the Europeans who work for me love being here and are not phased by Brexit.
To balance this, they’d rather we hadn’t Brexited as it has created uncertainty- but un welcomed is too harsh IMO.

I think you’ll find Boris only changed his mind, to get the JOB!

He is, and always has been, a duplicitous weasel.

Wow that would take some working out he took sides under leader Cameron Out.
He thought he'd get the gig presuming that the leave vote would win then didn't run against May and then waited to be in the running!
Fuck me I've read some shite in my time and being a nobber makes it worse.
Piss off and toddle off to your own forum. 🤡

Accepted but I wasn't talking about all Europeans think this or think that. I purposefully remarked (as per BHOK, I think), that the feeling among Europeans in all locations, about a less welcome UK, has grown. So, clarification but I'm not going to die in a ditch over it.
Have a happy neues jahr, you and yours.

He was pro Europe until it was in his self interest to join Leave. That's a well documented fact.

The reality is, Boris is simply an opportunist. Any manoeuvring he did had nothing to do with principle, but just his own goal to climb the greasy pole.

Happy New Year to you, too✌️

So you agree your post was nonsense do one nobber.

The whole thing is a joke regarding freedoms of movement

Your average Brit can no longer live, work or travel freely around Europe.

Although if you have a few quid you can buy a property, or invest in something and they will give you residency - leading to citizenship in most EU (or any other) countries.

Still one rule for the rich.....

Clear off then Stanley, and permanently. Same to anyone who doesn’t like it here.
And the voice of The Daily Mail is transmitted through one of its minions once again. Everything is black or white. No room for gradations, you don't agree with me so you have to go. Except that is not how the world works.
Once again offence is taken because not everyone in the world thinks the same as you. Snowflake.

Nobody ever called me a snowflake and I don’t read the Daily Mail. Yes my view is quite simple, if I don’t like something I don’t do it, if I don’t like somewhere I don’t go.

He's probably got a life outside his bubble.. unlike you!

Boris Johnson only became a Brexiteer once he saw the route to the top job... you know that don't you?
You clearly didn’t read my post did you ? Like I said what the fuck has that got to do with his dad

And this has to do with his dad gaining citizenship for another country how ?

Your mum isn't a former MEP and you aren't the PM. There's your difference.
You miss the point Mac, the fact remains whaver Boris does or thinks or whatever his father does has got absolutely fuck all to do with the other. It’s just you snide remarking out of pure bitterness.

Apologies, I am grumpy because I have a hangover and didn't sleep, I take it all back.

Just admit the policies you worship are led by a class of people who don't give one moment's thought about you or your kind, and quite honestly don't even understand you or the life you lead.
They do however know "get behind britain" is a slogan you'll fall for every time, because they learnt about it in politics class at Eton. They also know any bad side effects, such as losing freedom of movement, can be manoeuvred around by money and influence making sure only people like you and not people like them pay the price.

No wonder you don't want people to discuss the topic.

TBH, I do think this is a bit of a non story.
Stanley Johnson is part French (has a French mother) and voted for remain in the referendum, doing this doesn't make him a hypocrite. If I could do what he is doing I would.
