Next years season ticket price comparison - Huddersfield Town

£11.70 a game is cheap, too cheap in my opinion.

We pitched ours about right, just need to sort match day pricing.

Very well priced. Hope Blackpool do something similar to get the numbers in the ground
I think it will also depend on who is named the manager/coach and how the recruitment goes
A lot of people will wait to see the above I’d imagine. I know we will be

I don't think ours are too bad. Maybe 20 off or so. It's the matchday pricing that was too expensive but I get it in order to maximise aways. The membership scheme was there to negate that for home fans but unfortunately it hasn't turned out that. Maybe the membership should be offerred for free whilst St are on sale to get everyone signed up to it which will reduce the POTG for homes whilst still maximising aways.

They are being smart, they know they'll have to get everyone back on board after a very poor season for them, it's also not clear what division yet.

It's a great price for league 1 or an absolute no brainer, fill the stadium and bring your friends and family etc for the championship, tbh even league 1 too.

We need to encourage bums on seats.
Purchases in ground add to income to.
Need similar prices if in L1.
Matchday prices reduced too, especially for members, so away fans contribute at full price.

Tickets have been mostly cheap during the Dean Hoyle era, this season was £299 for new tickets, £249 for those who renewed during covid, there was a 3 year price freeze for those who did, next season being the last. Tickets for the 1st season in Prem were £100 for holders who had continually renewed in the Hoyle era, or you could have £100 shop gift voucher or donate the £100 back to the club. Holders also got a free leather ticket holder and a badge!!.

Clubs need to get together and help out each other’s away fans, eg, if you’re a ST holder you get a discount when purchasing an away ticket whatever team you support or ground you visit. Even if it’s just a few quid off it may actually encourage more fans to travel.

I think we get as many as we can.

I don't think we even sold out some games whilst we were in the Premier League.

Most were sold out or as good as...

Based on what?

We've had years of neglect and no concerted effort to grow it. A promotion with little to no fans in attendance, plus 1 good and 1 bad year in the championship isn't enough.

We haven't even tapped into the casuals yet, we haven't hit a good price point that generates a buzz, we haven't leaflet dropped the whole area, we haven't had many big cup games and sellouts.

We don't even have a completed stadium yet.

There's tons more we need to do and lots of potential for growth.

The years of neglect have stopped.
We've had one poor season since SS took over. In his first we got promoted then we had a pretty decent first season in the Championship with plenty of feel good factor, yet at the start of this season, after two of the best seasons since Ian Holloway was the manager, we failed to sell enough season tickets to fill the home sections of the ground.
Even against our biggest rivals we failed to sell out.
Blackpool is a town of people who support other clubs.
Just go into any pub when MU, City or Lpool are playing and they are full of folk who watch "their" club's from afar.
I ask these people, occasionally why they don't watch Blackpool and usually they say, 'because I don't support them' or 'because they are rubbish'.

The truth is, it's easier to support or associate yourself with a team that wins things.

In short, I just think there is a lack of appetite to follow a mid table mid league side.

Don't get me wrong here, I'd love to see the ground packed and I do encourage people to go because the atmosphere alone is worth the money.

My idea would be a bring a buddy type promotion for ST holders on a limited match by match basis.
I'm not saying cheaper tickets than ST per match prices, but maybe an incentive (not a pie though😁) with the buddy paying the same price or maybe a reduction on an ST price the following season based on games attended by the buddy.
Quite how that would work with a designated seat ST policy would work, I don't know.
As for ST prices, I think they are spot on and I wouldn't be adverse to a price rise to give 'our' or 'my' club a better chance.
Loads disagree, but in football money helps buy better players.

I agree, couple of my mates support Man United and never shown any interest in BFC until we had our season in the prem and they both got season tickets. They were back to supporting Man United the next season after relegation.
You only have to look east to Blackburn to see how their gates have dropped to a similar level to ours despite years in the prem and discounted tickets/marketing.
Realistically this is as high as we get for our average home attendances if you look back to the 70s.

How has that worked this season then? Don’t get me wrong I am not really complaining but the product has been poor and the signings also.

Nobody signed anyone thinking, "do you know what, we'll get him, he's crap".
Injuries have killed us all season, and I'm not meaning the supposed 'crocks' we've signed.
Is there actually a player who hasn't been injured this season? There can't be many.
Injuries to key players like Ekpiteta, Keshi and Madine to name but 3.
This has undoubtedly affected the 'product'.

Agree with you about Blackburn. I couldn’t believe how many empty seats there was at Ewood Park (admittedly they have a big stadium and it’s not exactly a well to do area of the country) the last 2 seasons we have been there, especially considering on both occasions the games were towards the end of the season and they have been pushing for promotion.

They have only just stopped really, it went on for decades.

We've had one good season which couldn't be taken advantage of due to covid, 1 good championship season with covid hangover at the start, higher prices and then a bad season now. Hardly enough to undo decades of shite.

We haven't made much of an effort to fill it at a reasonable price.

We don't need to capture all the plastics, only achieve steady year on year growth. We're nowhere near our peak.

This season under Appleton many were put off and 30 quid was a non starter for many casuals.

Of course sucess would make it easier to grow the fanbase but we also have to push with a solid price and be creative.

Bring a friend type deals, new fan special etc all things we can do and try.

There was over 11.5k home fans the other day for Cardiff, some will have been the kids for the football tournament but it was a good turnout considering where we are and how poor we have been.

With the right price, right marketing campaign, right manager, exciting style of play, a successful promotion push with fans in attendance this time, a buzz created around the town and surrounding areas, we could easily be filling the stadium far more.

It'll take decades to fully undo the damage and have new generations all as pool fans. But there is much we can do now.

Even in league 1 if we charged say 250 for a ST and 20 quid per ticket, marketed it right and spread the word, got an exciting manager, went on a winning streak and were near the top, got the place buzzing, we'd be able to fill the stadium there or there abouts. If we drew a big team in the cup at home that'd help too.

I really think that reducing the ST price degrades everything done so far.
We tend to forget all the money that has been invested in the ground, just to right the disrepair it had been left in. It was a mess and from memory that was in the millions.
Then the club had to invest in a new squad, and astonishingly to us as supporters we paid money for players and even more amazingly for the first time in decades gave them longer contracts.
There was also the issue of the players that the O's had signed on contracts that were put on gardening leave, loaned out or simply paid to go. I can't remember how many but certainly 3 or 4 maybe.
That can't have been a cheap exercise.
My point is, in the first instance SS had to spend a small fortune on just getting the club to a start point.
Employing new staff will have come at a cost, groundsman and buying him the tools to even give him a chance of sorting the old cabbage patch out (which he has done btw), maintenance crew, then putting a board of experienced football people together, again, not cheap. Creating a scouting network, which has seen us invest in future players like Tharm and Casey but to name a few...all at cost.
All these things new to us after the shambles that went before.
When people say the club is in the same position now as when that other lot got booted out, they really need to have a little think about how it was before.

Now I feel it's time to consolidate ready to go again.
We have the nucleus of a good squad, we will have a new manager with new ideas and there will be new players to add to the squad.
If we want success it comes at a cost but dropping prices isn't the right thing to do.
I for one am excited for next season wherever that may be.

I have spoke to loads of people recently. Some have been at holders for years saying they’re not renewing this time
£30 on a matchday is simply far too much £20 is plenty
My husbands ex work colleagues have been messaging saying no renewals
A lot will wait to see who the new manager is and also the recruitment side of things. The club need to start marketing the club in various ways leaflet drops etc

Also some simply won’t pay £380.00 for league one football ( us included )

£380 ÷ 23 is £16.52:a game so you've contradicted yourself there. ...its that much to watch a band you've never heard of at the Waterloo.

It would cost more than that to not go in my house.
I'd have to go shopping or out for 'lunch' or something similar so buying a ST is actually going to save me money......and give me something to do on a Saturday afternoon.

People seem to forget , we were paying £459 for our tickets back in 2008 , 15 years ago . Good job they’ve not increased at the rate of inflation !

It’s a whole different world we live in now. Cost of living has rocketed. Food. Utilities etc. people can’t afford high prices at this moment in time
Maybe attract more customers if the club set up a monthly payment plan like other clubs offer.

I think unless pricing is favourible we might struggle next season. This year's football especially with long ball mick has been hideous and we will be in league 1 too so hardly tempting for anyone to watch awful football like that. It will depend on the style of the new manager and the recruitment. If its priced too high in a nutshell people just won't go.

100% spot on

100% spot on
So, the club have had a poor season so loads have made, and I don't know where from, an assumption that SS is just like Koko and Scarecrow and won't spend money when clearly he has.

Season tickets at this seasons price are £16:52 per game yet people are deserting the club..... because it's not good enough.

You get what you pay for and as a lot of posters seem to want a price reduction or aren't renewing then it WILL go backwards.

For goodness sake, get behind the club, support the team.

Surely after what this club and us supporters have been through, relegation is a trivial matter in comparison.

There has been many improvements at the club, as one of your earlier posts eludes to.

Fans have put in a fair bit too where we can and process considering the wealth of the area are high.

Fans who claim because of 1 bad season it's similar to the Oystons are mad, it's nothing alike.

The price should go down as the product is less attractive, also as a gesture of goodwill for the season that been largely self inflicted. But also because our club needs it's fanbase rebuilding. We talk aboit investment, how about an investment in the fans. A lower price strategy might make slightly less, but what advantage a full Bloomfield road rocking.

People should renew however if the club has any sense thread prices must come down, just as they happily went up when we did.

Not sure you can call people out on not renewing when you yourself said you weren't renewing when Appleton was appointed. 😉

But people have overreacted to a bad season and should carry on going If they can, it's likely to be a far more fun season for 1. But prices should fall into line, as we need to create a buzz, get everyone on board again and just try and fill the stadium.

The recruitment last summer will put a lot of people off renewing. If there is early movement in the transfer window, like there was in our promotion season, this may well change minds!
