No trains to Burnley

I understand wanting job security out of the modernisation is another demand. I'm not sure anyone has job security in this uncertain world. They are deliberately targeting Saturdays too in my opinion.

If only doctors/nurses/etc. could strike.... they would all be on mega money instead of the sour giblets they are forced to survive on.

Interesting for the police actually as they probably prefer the trains as they know where and when a large chunk of fans will arrive. Coaches and private cars will make it more tricky for them . Wonder if they may look to change the date ?

So much money floating around. Pay rises for higher management who are ok triple figure wages. Huge profits for the shareholders.
Yet, people moan at the front line workers who have zero other means of protest who want a fair pay rise.

'i only for 2percent' - well that's not railways staffs fault. Join a strong union and demand better from your employer. Don't bemoan other people who already have better conditions than you, but join the race to the top and demand better than you currently have.

The rail unions should strike like the Japanese,When they went on strike they still went to work ,and let the public travel on the trains and buses for free .meaning their employers was losing money but everyone was getting to work etc on time,so gaining public support but still putting pressure on the rail companies, win win for everyone.

Unfortunately in regards to what happens in Japan is irrelevant as we have the most Draconian anti trade union laws in western Europe. Even if members wanted to do a form of action short , eg not check tickets. They would have to be balloted and we would need to make it absolutely clear that would be the action short of strike. Now wait for this. IF that was successful and broke the thresholds, the members could then be docked pay or sent home. Plus there could be a legal challenge against the union and potentially sequestration of funds , as the courts could state it was strike action and we were in default. .......

This is currently happening at a few universities here. Staff voted for articles short of a strike, and have been docked up to 100% of wages indefinitely, despite doing the majority of their job.
