Nobbers v Blackpool Official Matchnight Thread 05.04.22

Well, that was shocking. Preston seemed up for it and we didn’t. Too many poor performances. Preston were dirty bastards though.

Hamilton 🤢
Keshi has had an absolute mare out there tonight. Shouting and flailing his arms at all and sundry whilst his own performance has been terrible.

Back starting too soon
CJ far far far worse than Anderson. Worst player on the pitch by miles.

Didn't turn up. Nobbers no better than us but wanted it more and produced the only moment of quality.

Extended break seems to have sapped all the momentum we had. Critch has some questions to answer about the way he's set up on Saturday and tonight, because we've had free shots to impress and not turned up both times.

As good a position as we're in going into the summer, there's a lot in that squad that are very clearly at their maximum and can't take us any further.

No fight and really powder puff attackers again. If anyone offers five million for Bowler snap their bloody hand off.

Watched the game tonight Blackpool where shocking I reckon some of the players are already thinking of their holidays
Critch needs to change things bring other players who are not getting a chance and he might be suprised and save the club spending money on other players he thinks he needs

Critchly need to take full responsibility for that show - he set is up badly and we played badly - no excuses we were poor and they were less poor

The season has only been as long as everyone else’s.
What I mean is that we've fought hard to win points and put ourselves in a secure position relatively early in the campaign - maybe it takes it's toll. Of course all sides have played the same - surely you could grasp what I meant?

Well that was absolutely dreadful, wasn’t it?! The amount of times we advance and nobody is running into space is ridiculous. Fancy starting a counter attack then stopping in your tracks to pass backwards. Seen far too many times. Every one of those players are clearly in holiday mode already.

Why the negative starting line up? We're not going up or down so why not go for it, play two up top and CJ and Bowler supporting.
He's got Anderson coming back from injury and Robson who's no where near Championship level. Poor from NC.

It's all soooo predictable!

Deserved more from that 2nd half, but crossing and set pieces were atrocious. No creativity in midfield. (Been an ongoing problem.) Grimmy would have probably got to that Archer shot. Archer is a class player. We’ve not taken advantage of loan system like some other clubs’. Almost complete absence of shots on target is an issue. NC needs to rethink this 1 up front strategy.

Simply awful tonight, Anderson may as well have worn a white shirt. Critchley got it all wrong tonight, let's see if he holds his hands up....

That was the worst Blackpool performance that I have seen since the boycott years. It was even worst than Saturday against Forest.

I hope many of these players aren’t with us next season because if they are, we will be back in League One at this rate!

Nothing came off for Bowler tonight but I forgive him because at least he was trying to make something happen.
Exactly, but some goons don't see that. Who else is there that's anywhere near as creative as he can be? But it was just like saturday in that we are so one dimensional in our style of play. Get the ball wide and hope! Not an ounce of creativity in central midfield.

Not really, whilst I understand your point I don’t agree. If they can’t play a hard season in the Championship they should drop down a division, everyone knows it isn’t easy and if they can’t hack it, move.

We were the better team for most of the game, but the ref bottled at least two big decisions where Preston should have players sent off.
We missed a decent attacking right-back tonight.
Oh give over, preston were the stronger team, no movement from our players and were always back passing, I stopped counting after 436 back passes. What were critters tactics. Poor game and we know what we need to compete.

We have been shit tonight, but we have a league 1 team out on the pitch. We seriously need to offload several players this summer because we have too many just not good enough and sadly bought in players this season not good enough.

Players I would sell/release:

James, Garbutt, Keogh, Dougall, Dale, CJ, Kirk, Robson, Ward, Bowler and possibly one of the forwards, that would leave a squad of 15. We have to get players in who will improve us and who will allow us to push for the top 6, some on that list just aren't going to do that.

The Pool players have had to do more running around to make up for their lesser quality compared with other Championship players who cost millions. Our players have done brilliant to stay up.

Very poor preston team, deserved the win, shame our worst performance of the season, was tonight, but at the start of the season, l would have been satisfied to finish 4th from bottom, and stay up, and build our championship status, next season, job done

We weren't good but " completely ruined the season".
They are an established Championship Club like it or not. We are the first team for three years to go up via the playoffs and stay up.
Have some perspective and man up, good chance to give Beesley, Dale and Kirk a run now.
At least giving some of the second string a chance to prove themselves will provide some interest to the fans.

Agree - should of shown some intent

Yeh...It's Critchley's fault we've got two really good ones who are injured.

I agree, the first aim for this season was consolidating, we have done that. However most of these players have reached the maximum of their capabilities, if we don’t have a major overhaul in the summer we will be in trouble next season. We took a lot of teams by surprise this season, it won’t happen next.

The league table doesn't lie. We are a lower mid table Championship side. Some days we are better. And some days (like today) we are worse.

Thanks for that critchley…knew what it meant to the fans yet he put one up front. They were there for the taking tonight. Absolute dog shit. Only relief is knowing their best three players will have returned to their parent clubs by the end of the season

I had me beer, pizza and Mrs Freak out at her sisters when my lad turned up with City vs Athletico tickets. Looks like I made the right choice...

League one team?…so a League One team finishing mid table in the championship?…in that case they’ve done very well

We tend to do better against ‘footballing sides’ and struggle against shit houses. Lowe had four players on Bowler, used the home advantage with the ref.

Just angry at the mo, where was the passion? But I’ll get over it, we’ve had a good season and come up against many, many
biased ref’s. Hopefully next season we’ll learn and improve (& the ref’s will treat us with more respect). Another Stella for me night all.

Not running into space, it's been like that for most of the season, it's my pet hate.

Pretty shocking performance by all accounts. Feed was cutting off for the last 15 minutes so only getting bits and pieces but up till that point couldn't see us scoring.
Thought bowler was shocking today, as good as he is in full flight he has to learn to pass the ** ball occasionally. Thought Keogh was pretty bad as well, Maxwell looked nervous when he came on.
Connolly and husband put themselves about, made their presence felt, Marv got in a lot of good challenges. Dougall looks tired, Robson was a bit anonymous got stuck in and got into the right positions a couple times and should have done better. Keshi looked a bit rusty but showed up a few times. Thought CJ was having a decent game first half and then kind of disappeared.
No intensity, at all. We were ten times worse tonight than on Saturday.

And the ref was shit.

Again.

Not one of ours took the game by the scruff of the neck tonight. At one time it might have been an Ormerod, an Adam, a Phillips or a GTF. Not one had the balls or the inclination.
