To being a red!

Is it a foul? Yes. Is it a yellow? Yes. However, a red card there is absolutely shocking.

I understand from the referee's perspective that it looks like Connolly's the last man, but surely the linesman has to see that Keogh is ahead of both and would therefore not make Connolly the last man. In fact, I don't even think the referee went over to the linesman to check before pulling out his card.

Making a decision that big in the 15' completely ruined the match for us and changed the momentum to Millwall completely. The first 15 minutes we were well on top and the fact that we were on top for many spells even with 10 men just shows the character of the team.

Keogh wouldn’t have got the Millwall man had he been another 5 yards to the good.

Irrelevant whether or not Keogh gets to the Millwall man, the law of the game states that a red card is for dangerous play or denying an obvious goal scoring opportunity (specifically bringing down a man while being the last defender).

Connolly did none of those things so a red never should have been an option.

Rumour has it Keogh is still running back now trying to cover that tackle but has realised the games ended.

Nah thought he was alright today he just isn't quick at all.

Of course he denied him a clear goal scoring opportunity. Connolly was the last man otherwise Afobe was in the clear for a run on goal. Remove your blinkers. If it had been at the other end you'd have been agreeing with the decision or moaning if it hadn't been red.

Red all day long even Critchley said he had no complaints over the red card in his post match comments.

Watched it live at home and looked a red to me

Agree. Soft, but it’s a red. Getting the rulers out for whether he was last man or not is irrelevant. No foul it’s a clear goal scoring opportunity. Not that it matters outside the box, but there was also no intent to play the ball.

I'm not sure what you're looking at. When the foul took place, which was before that picture, Keogh was three strides further back. There was no way he could have caught Afobe.

Surely Maxwell would be the closest as the ball was kicked by the Millwall player far in front and Maxwell could have reached it

How would you ever define obvious goal scoring opportunity because, in effect, if a player has the ball anywhere around the 30 yard area is it not a goal scoring opportunity?!

How can touching a player on the shoulder make his legs buckle is what I would like to know! Especially a guy the size of Afobe
it needs stopping

Connollys' contact with the attacker looked minimal, and he took advantage of the slight touch by falling over as if he's been shot by a sniper.
The attacker knew what he was doing and the slight touch was enough for a poor referee to give the free kick and sending off.

No point going over it agin and again. It’s gone, on to the next game and let’s hope we get a few injured players back and a couple more in along the way.

That's what I said yesterday. Why do players legs collapse beneath them when someone puts a finger on their shoulder. Can someone please explain why that happens?

The player went down easy but that’s what they do these days.
Sounds like the referee was shocking and Pool being the new boys to the Championship this season we probably won’t get the rub of the green - just as we didn’t in the Premier League in 2010/11.
It’s certainly going to be a struggle to survive but if we can strengthen the squad in the next few weeks I think we’ll be just about ok.
