O/T Council tax 150

i reside in macclesfield which is in cheshire and got ours back about 2 weeks ago now.
Shootz - Thanks.
You're living in the posh part of 'proper' Cheshire, where things happen more quickly.
We're in former Lancashire, under the hopeless unitary authority of Warrington - together with Thorniley, Dale and Critch!

Just got mine today from Fylde, don't really know why.
If this is what energy costs then so be it, I'll use less. I'm a long way from wealthy but we can cover the bills, why aren't the poorer being given more and those that don't absolutely need it less or nothing?
Why aren't the energy companies that make fortunes not being asked to pay more tax out of their profits?
Where has this money come from, can the country afford it?

Not eligible as outside the banding A to D - obviously means my gas and electric is cheaper than those in a lower banded house. Ridiculous
If you haven't got a meter I think you get charged more for your water aswell, never really understood that one either!

I'm guessing the Tories have restricted the discount to demonstrate that they're not benefiting the rich
But all they've done is to hit middle earners (and those with lower incomes who came by an E band property by other means as Wizaard said).

We're in a D band property so got ours today (Blackpool), but I agree that the restriction should have applied to Bands G or H (160k or 320k valuation in 1991). That would been more likely to hit only the wealthier if they insisted on a restriction, or better still just give the 150 to all?

Yes payed into account today, not often I get something from Blackpool Council. Shocked it has not just gone to the benefit brigade 😂

Got it yesterday. Only for it to be chomped up by this month's council tax. In one hand - out of the other.

Happened the other way round for me, ultimately the same thing but I saw it as a bonus, all about perspective I suppose!

I wouldn't mind, but logically bigger houses cost more to heat, and there's no proof of how people came by them, or whether their circumstances have changed since purchase.
Fully agree with you. Me and wife have downsized from a band G property. However, we were only in that big a house because we took in my wife's widowed mother by combining our resources. Now that she's passed on and our lad has moved away it made no sense staying there. That said, I recognise that if the £150 rebate had happened whilst we were still there we'd have had to take it on the chin.

I’m sure for those that live in very big houses the £150 isn’t really required. Maybe pass it on to someone less fortunate than yourselves ?

Didn't realise that the discount was cut off so low. Really should have extended to Band E and F.

I’m Wyre borough council however My first DD only came out yesterday so will hopefully get it at some point in may….do they reckon roughly 10-15 days after DD?
