O/T Jordan Henderson again

So would you sign a multimillion pound contract in Saudi if you could? I bloody would in less than a second as I suspect would you and every man Jack. Only I'd be honest enough to admit I did for the money.
You been campaigning for the rights of LBGT?

It's very easy to take the moral high ground about something extremely unlikely to happen but reality is the kicker. I don't think anyone is lying who say they won't but that doesn't mean I believe them, fine morals butter no parsnips.
Nah, my wife and family are more important than any money or material goods. I genuinely wouldn't consider moving to that environment....not for anything.

Bill - we often agree on a lot.

But I think your statement here makes no sense. ‘I don’t think you’re lying - but I don’t believe you’ - the 2 can’t both be true. And what is wrong with taking a moral stand? It’s a bit of a craven view of the world to say nobody would do so if it were real to them (which is what you are saying).

I prefer to take people at face value unless proven otherwise - sometimes I’m wrong and disappointed I grant you, but more often I’m not.

I am no philosopher but the difference between a hypothetic situation and reality is vast hence it's two completely different choices. Sometimes what you'd like to do isn't always the best thing to do. Two years away to set up your family for at least two generations? Life choices are tough.

I get it - I do. But sometimes a line has to be drawn. I think his choice is appalling - and especially as he has quite clearly cashed in on issues here that would not be tolerated by his new paymasters.

I left the Services from a senior rank because I could not condone things that I was being asked to do. To go along with the party line would have (probably) got me promoted further, and certainly would have gained me more pension. But I could not do what was being ordered of me and I resigned.

I am no philosopher either - but i did what I believed to be right. He can’t say he does not know what his paymasters stand for.

I quit a very senior role at a FTSE 100 mobile phone company and regret speaking out to this day. The fraud going on was horrendous and I couldn't be a part of that or so I thought. It led to divorce and me being an odd jobber in tech just to get by. My actions made no difference to anyone but me hence my somewhat cynical veiw of the world. Just do what you have to is my advice.

Think this depends on personal history. My grandad worked 12 hours a day 6 days a week and was that knackered spent his day off sleeping because he wanted to be retired at 50. He died in a motorbike accident at 41 and his second wife spent all his money within 6 years on a guy 15 year younger than her. Thats taught me that time with family is more important than money in the bank is. As long as my bills are paid then that's good enough for me, so I know that I would turn that down 100%.

Again - I get it. I think what sticks in the craw is the way he is trying to twist and turn.

My sincere respects to you for walking out as you did.

I was prepared to listen to the LGBT community until i saw a guy on SS News who, after his name had This /They in brackets.
Such a pity that Henderson can't turn round and say "my life my decision" so up yours.
Good thing is that when he retires, he can work in the fossil fuel industry as we buy plenty of it from Saudi Arabia.

You saw these guys…..

He had a lot of respect before he made this move but he has lost credibility entirely. You can’t justify taking the huge pot of cash from a society which denegrates women and opposes everything about the LGBT+ movement and not be accused of selling your soul.

Badly done Jordan.

His justification just makes it worse. He doesn’t want to disrespect the country he is playing in? Nobody at Liverpool asked him to stay and it was clear he would struggle for game time with the new signings? (Endo and Gravenberch have only been signed because he left so this is rubbish).

Just tell the truth. You sold out for lifetime financial security and your morals and beliefs were sacrificed on that altar.

Eh, end of the day the British and US governments sell billions of dollars of weapons, drones, surveillance equipment to Saudi in exchange for oil which literally enables them to treat their citizens so appallingly, so it's a bit rich to talk about national morality.

That being said as a personal move, it's definitely a bit suss on Hendersons part, but if we're looking for footballers to be moral leaders we're looking in the wrong place.

Like it or not, at the end of the day he doesn't need to explain any decisions he makes to anyone at all.

Complete truth in the first part of that. They even used to wheel out the sweaty royal to garland the deals. Every individual can make their own choices though. Henderson chose badly and now he's made it worse by whining about the flak he's receiving.

Think contract talks might have run as:

OK Jordan, you have become a very wealthy man from doing something you love.
You have captained you country, to the dismay of most England fans.
You have become a popular figure due to supporting you beliefs.
You have more money than you or your children will probably ever need.

How about making even more money but in doing so throw away all the above.

Or, you could insult the intelligence of football fans and the communities you support
by announcing you only went to enhance the game in the middle east - brilliant idea!

I personally would be laughing my tits off at peoples comments if i was earning 700k a week.
33 now and hang up your boots at 36.

Simples really.

Coming to the end of his career Liverpool wanted the wonga for him
Truly a very average player earning a vast amount of money.

Football wise was so skilful made Fred look like Beckenbauer

Managed to obtain several trophies (as Im repeatedly informed by the enlightened posters), by being the worst player of an excellent team, and subsequently has totally fecked his legacy by being a thick, money grabbing hypocrite.

Nice one Jordan, you complete moron

Agree with that, I just find it embarrassing when they want to prioritize money to such an extreme extent, and also want to claim to be some kind of role model. You made your choice, just shut up and enjoy the cash.

Whatever he is as a player and I can't be arsed to argue with you, your obsession and hatred of him is weird. It's not normal and a bit creepy.
It's not like he's scored against us in a play off final or something.

Just to put a lid on the agenda you have with me, I don't actually hate Hendo and never have actually said that.

However, I obviously don't rate him as a player, which I am entitled to have that opinion, as do you.

The majority of my posts, if read properly (which certain posters don't), are actually one big wind-up that has gone on for several years.

With him going to Saudi, I thought that would have been my involvement with 'Backpass' ended, but the greedy hypocrite couldn't help himself.

So, Im glad you can't be arsed, because it's reciprocated.

Have a good evening.

right how many on here drive a car that's run on by Saudi oil that is funding the Saudi football. bloody hypocrites and I'm one..

Think it is a classic case of situational ethics.
He supports the LGBT community. Most of us do - it’s morally right.
A situation has arisen which means he will earn shit loads of wonga. Off he pops as most of us would.

As Plato once said “ I would eat my mother for a Ship load of Drachma” *

* This may not be true but who knows?
