Saw the Bunnymen at the Phil back in March. Mac was so blitzed backstage they had to give him oxygen to get him out there, but they delivered a barnstorming set including loads from the first two albums.Thought we’d better check em out again before either we checkout or Mick or Keef checks out first!
46 years since we last saw them, and 42 years since we saw the support, Echo and the Bunnymen. “I know it’s only Rock and Roll” but I like it. Anyone else going?
Bless him that’s what we want! Rock and Roll and All that Jazz! On the red wine and JD deja vu a salute to our yoof!Saw the Bunnymen at the Phil back in March. Correct, we saw em at Earl’s Court and Knebworth in ‘76.They were last in Liverpool in 1971.
See you when the lights turn low JoeBless him that’s what we want! Rock and Roll and All that Jazz! On the red wine and JD deja vu a salute to our yoof!
Legends must be seen while they’re still on earth, right off for bus to Anfield, no doubt we’ll end up chanting Seasiders before the nights out!!Last and only time i saw the Stones was Roundhay Park Leeds 1984. They looked ancient then! Saw the Clash the next night on the Combat Rock tour. It was rescheduled from when Joe Strummer went awol. They busked outside the Faversham beforehand
I'm sure we've talked about it before but yep I saw them at Knebworth too.Correct, we saw em at Earl’s Court and Knebworth in ‘76.
Was also at Knebworth and thought at the time it was their farewell gigCorrect, we saw em at Earl’s Court and Knebworth in ‘76.
Going to Hyde Park on the 3rd couldn't bring myself to give money to Liverpool!!!Thought we’d better check em out again before either we checkout or Mick or Keef checks out first!

Mark, I went to the Roundhay Park gig - I think it was 1982.Last and only time i saw the Stones was Roundhay Park Leeds 1984. They looked ancient then! Yes you're right CC. Joe Jackson, J Geils Band and George Thorogood and the Destroyers supporting. I went with my now ex and Phil Walmsley, ex lead guitarist from Skrewdriver and a massive Stones fan. As indeed was screwy Don/Ian StewartMark, I went to the Roundhay Park gig - I think it was 1982.
I left Baines in 78 to go to Bispham Tech. We were students in Leeds at the time of the concert. A good time to be there music-wise. Phil was working by then and couldn't believe the state of our house in HeadingleyPhil W was in the year above me at Baines.
I had completely forgotten the support acts - it was a good line up.
The ticket stub is one of the few I still have from that time. They are now selling on the collectors market for £15-£20.
Wasn't he a big mate of Mark Radcliffe?I left Baines in 78 to go to Bispham Tech. We were students in Leeds at the time of the concert. A good time to be there music-wise. Phil was working by then and couldn't believe the state of our house in Headingley
Yes and still is. I last saw Mark at Phil's Dad's funeral. He was doing really well. Vincent Walmsley was a Seasider through and through and sat with us up until the boycott. Sadly he died before we extracted the Oystons, but he and we had lots of great times following the Pool. He went to the 53 final and was a childhood friend of Jimmy Armfield. I remember them meeting at the legends of 66 dinner and how warm Jimmy was to Vin. Great memories.Wasn't he a big mate of Mark Radcliffe?
was in Toronto a couple of years ago and noticed Joe Jackson was playing, tickets were sold out so i got in touch with his management and told them truthfully that "Is She Really Going Out With Him" was my wife's and mine first dance at our wedding and we would love to see him whilst we were in Toronto. Anyway they very kindly provided us with two tickets and got to meet him back stage afterwards after a brilliant show.Yes you're right CC. Anfield was superb, great sound and fairly well organised, Stones still rocking, brilliant. Worst part was getting back to City centre, got directed to buses but the queue must have been a mile long! spent an hour in it then binned it off and legged it back to hotel, took 45 mins. Bolluxed this morning but well worth it.Seen them at Old Trafford a few years ago terrible venue for live concert (cricket ground is way better)hope Anfield is better.
Yep was at Knebworth Al with the usual suspects but Skynyrd were the band of the day with a great performance! Stones came on stage very late and it was all a bit hazy thenCorrect, we saw em at Earl’s Court and Knebworth in ‘76.
Can’t really remember much about the day Stew, apart from “Freebird” didn’t want it to end, as for the Stones well away with the fairies by then! They played a superb set other night mind, ’Midnight Rambler” stood out for me a real Bluesy version, probably cause they’re all sober nowYep was at Knebworth Al with the usual suspects but Skynyrd were the band of the day with a great performance! Most definitely, Steve Jordan has filled Charlie’s seat and he’s stood in for him before, plus he’s played with Keef for years on his solo stuff. Was the feel and the groove still the same without CW on the drums?
1982 surely?Last and only time i saw the Stones was Roundhay Park Leeds 1984. They looked ancient then! Saw the Clash the next night on the Combat Rock tour. It was rescheduled from when Joe Strummer went awol. They busked outside the Faversham beforehand
Went to that.Steel Wheels tour; Wenbley Stadium.
Saw them at Glastonbury
I left Hodgson that year Mark. Don's brother was in my year. I was also good mates with John Crookall in your year & he in turn knocked around with Phil Brand. Both were in Baines football team.I left Baines in 78 to go to Bispham Tech. We were students in Leeds at the time of the concert. A good time to be there music-wise. Phil was working by then and couldn't believe the state of our house in Headingley
I've got a big soft spot for the Fun Lovin' Criminals. Best of the last few years though was the Magic Band at the Cavern club. Big eyed beans from Venus - oh my oh myStill dining out on Thursdays gig, ** superb! Seeing as we’ve seen so many bands over the years, old wave, new wave, this wave, that wave, who’s your fave rave bands live?
She should get an email from the Club a couple of days before the gig with all the relevant information, but no parking available anywhere near the ground. Special buses laid on from Lime Street No 917 non stop to Anfield.Where can you park? Mrs going to be bored by Elton John on Friday and I can't find anything on parking.
Thanks
