Major incident at Halifax Bank.
Bloke gone in and thrown petrol all over branch threatening to set alight.
Full emergency service presence and firearms officers arrived.
Whole area sealed off
 
If he's on a mobility scooter, how the hell did he manage to douse himself and the manager in petrol?
 
Should have just been grabbed quickly, hardly a nimble guy, in his 80s, walking like his legs are knackered.

Typical of the policing we have in this country am sure in other countries this would have been a non starter. Now we've had town centre closed off, cars officers, helicopter , fire engines, ambulance, a drone and negotioter 🙄 FFS.

Surely you would be optimistic of taking him out.

Hes an old man walking like hes about to fall over. He's been in there ages they have been weighing it up for hours now.

All the staff left yonks ago, no one else in there apparently, you daft sod.

It'll probably end when he falls asleep at 7pm for naptime.

Really nice use of words, what was untrue about what I said ? Clearly a cry for help, it’s what people do when there in a hole. If your gonna pour petroleum over yourself in a bank but don’t strike a match then your attention seeking, ie asking for help. If you don’t understand that then you are a grade A prick.
 
This is still going on... Can't believe since 2PM 1 old guy with a bit of petrol can cause such upheaval and not be dealt with.

Officers could burst in and blast him with fire extinguishers or water and cover him. Send a dog in. Distract at front and sneak through back. Loads of options.

Would hate to see us deal with an incident from organised people, not an 80 year old man in there on his own when all others left ages ago...

Coppers probably still filling in paperwork to take some action. Surprised they don't just run away like they do in London from youths having a street party 🙄👎

Police seem so soft and paralysed these days its embarrassing, other countries must look at us sometimes and laugh.

Such a weak response.

No need for me to get out of my comfy chair but if it was upto me I think the police have the tools to deal with this more effectively, just not the will.

I suppose the slightest flick of a lighter and the whole place including him goes boom. Trying to get a relative to talk him round now apparently. I suppose the best solution is one where nobody or thing comes to any harm even if that takes time. Eventually he will tire.

But yeah your suggestion of a random civilian offering services is going to be appreciated by the cops. 🙄 I dont see why its too much to ask them to deal with this in an efficient manner.

At this point we'd be better off sending Gazza with some chicken, beers and a fishing rod.

Yes but he poured the petrol around 2pm, can't have had that much on him.
 
Seen a video of someone sitting in cafe opposite when it started. He could have been grabbed and dragged outside. Guy has his back to an open front door with a police man standing a meter plus from him in the doorway.

Yes I posted that video earlier, this is why I said he could have been grabbed but according to other geniuses on here that wasn't possible, hes too dangerous 🙄 But in reality he looked like he could barely walk...

An 80 year old man with his back to you, another country and its incident over before it began.

Yeah just think when he had his back to them something could have been done, he's already ruined the bank so spray him with the hose and dilute and fire threat and knock him over, job done, off home for tea.
