Ay up a proper goal with stanchions that keep it anchored to the ground unlike those crappy goals they have now that move about when the ball hits the net.

She used to live near me in Bispham - she was a very good gardener and was always dead heading her front roses without fail on a Sunday. There was a donkey and/or young horse a few yards from her house opposite the BJFF. I would have been about 4 years old and we always said ‘hello’ and my dad would converse about the front garden. Then it was a carrot for the horseViolet Carson looked very happy at her home in her garden in Blackpool in the 60s.

An out and out left winger. No great pace and not particularly tricky but a good crosser of the ball and had a really hard shot on him.Des Horne the only one not smiling- don’t remember much about him as player. Was he any good?
I must have seen him play - started going as a kid 64/65 and he left in the summer of 66 but nothing stands out in my memory. Looking at his stats he must have been in and out of the side as he averages around 25 games a season. However I have seen a video of the most famous game in history- the 1960 Cup final- where he played and made a goal- some bloke on the opposing team broke his leg but his name escapes me even though he is always talking about it.An out and out left winger. No great pace and not particularly tricky but a good crosser of the ball and had a really hard shot on him.
Scored some cracking goals from distance.

Big attendance tgat say
I attended most of the home games Des Horne played for Blackpool, I remember him as a very direct left winger who always attacked his full back on the outside at full speed and then would put over great crosses whilst on the run into the box which were aimed for the head of Ray Charnley. I liked Des Horne and thought he was an exciting player to watch. An out and out left winger. The one in the middle looks like very much like George Formby to me.Great photo Lee !
it was taken at Bloomfield Rd on 6th May 1939 when Pool defeated Pompey 2-1 in the last game of the season
Pompey had won the FA Cup the week earlier by beating Wolves 4-1 and brought the Cup along to parade round the ground
Captain, Danny Blair is the Pool player and I presume it's the Pompey Manager and Captain
A wonderful image !

Banned, as all women were from football for 70 years.Did girls get in free to the west paddock then?
Just checked the line ups for that game on England online. Four of the five England forwards were making their debuts. It was Jimmy Armfield’s second game as captain. France had the great Raymond Kopa in their team. Was at Hillsborough to watch him play France inhis only International
