"No doubt tongue in cheek" - Do you think so? 😂 - I understand that, but for me that sort of shit just proliferates ignorance and makes the problem worse.

I'm not saying we don't have some issues to try and negotiate our way around in society at the moment, but we also have some issues with individuals who want to try and exhaggerate those issues and build them up into something they are not.

I can relate to the issues that we have these days (especially when engaging with people who are looking to be offended) in perhaps unintentionally saying the wrong thing, but that's really just a matter of ongoing communication as I see it. Humans have managed to negotiate that kind of thing for as long as we have been communicating with each other.

I can understand you might not see the point in taking the knee... Some people do some people don't... That's your opinion and as far as I'm concerned you are entitled to it. What I would say is that your opinion ought to be based on some reasonable foundation and not just prejudice.

I can't relate to the comment on Gay Pride being pushed in your face all the time. What do you mean? I mean do you object to people being openly gay or the fact that there are annual marches where they celebrate it? I must admit I wouldn't want to go to one of the marches, but I can't say any of it has much of an impact on my day to day life to be honest.

Gender is more of a reference to your social / culturally based sexual identity.... So it is not your biological sex, but more about how you personally feel about your sexual identity. It's complicated of course, but some people do not feel like they are either male or female and some people feel like they are both or perhaps one or the other at different times.... It's not known whether this is a biological / genetic disorder or something else and yep, it's complicated and pretty weird to many of us....I suppose it's not unreasonable to try and be accomodating and understanding where practical though.
 
So here is the point.
We can all make mistakes in how we address people, describe groups we are not familiar with or say the wrong thing glibly at times.
The issue is not the initial mistake but how you respond.
Accept the rebuttal, apologise for getting it wrong and say that you will try to get it right next time and it's a long way to solving the problem.
We have a gender fluid student in year 10 that has recently chosen to take a masculine first name. Having taught them for three years I have made the mistake of using their old name a couple of times. It's not been an issue because I respond as above.
It is when people (and they are usually of a right wing persuasion) double down, refuse to admit they are wrong and cast the blame on the victim for being offended. That is what wizzerboy was attempting to do when he copied his social media post. That is why BFCx3 was so easily and astutely take his words apart and expose the bigotry behind them.

Another misunderstanding of advantage and / or privilege... Just because we can recognise that some people are advantaged or disadvantaged in life does not mean we can't also recognise or apprciate personal achievement. The people that "like" that low grade pseudo intellectual garbage are unlikely to have their minds changed by your, or anybody else`s, critical thinking - however compelling.
