Particularly referring to Tesco. It's a nightmare getting a slot. I can only book a slots 3 weeks in advance but all the slots are gone. I talked to my neigbour yesterday and she said she could book 4 weeks in advance. So if some can book 4 weeks in advance then no wonder there are no vacancies when I get a chance to book one. She kindly gave us a slot that she didn't need. Anybody any info/views on it?

No...never done it.Like you my next door neighbour does use this service all the time ( usually Tesco’s but occasionally others) as they have a young family.Same with the neighbours across the road( except they prefer Morrison’s) so if needs be they say we can use their relationship.
We are trying to register for our local milkman( Creamline) but think we might be too late but again next door uses them daily so they might help us if needs be.Strange thing today was the milkman delivered to them out of the back of a Pick up truck ( about 20 minutes ago) rather than the electric milk float( which comes around 6 30 in the morning....sign of things to come 😳

Been trying for the first time over the weekend. Managed to get a click and collect from Asda car park for next Monday.
All the home delivery slots are taken for three or four weeks. I suppose we should be planning that far in advance really, but just got disheartened with it.

It’s getting more popular again in some areas 20’s because it tends to be a local milk supply, and generally are using glass and not plastic.

I was checking the second the slots became available with Tesco and they were all gone. I tried the minute before and the slots hadn't been posted. It reminds a bit of buying an auction item on eBay, just trying to log in on the dot. But as I said above some people can book 4 weeks in advance so they are well gone by the time us 3 weeks in advance people have a chance.

Its if you have a paid delivery plan. You get advanced access to delivery slots. I think that's fair enough if you have used the service for some time rather than all the slots being open to the new registrations now flooding in.

I put an online Tesco order in ten days ago to be delivered this Wednesday. Checked email tonight and most of the things not available or out of stock but was available when I ordered them things such as butter. Bread. Ham. Jacket potatoes. Crisps. Sugar weetabix fresh fruit and veg. Tinned peas bleach bloody ridiculous I can’t get any of them

Michelle, I know we have to isolate, but Heron Foods and Home Bargains in Cleveleys had all of those today.
I can see Heron Foods from my windows, and they have pallets of bread stacked in the window for sale tomorrow.

I suspected that but was trying to get it clarified. We are in our 70's and we were trying to follow the guidelines and shop online, our neighbours are in their 20's and have no problem with home delivery yet. They did say they would go to the shops for us and we should definitely not go. Very kind of them.

We just spent 2 hours on Tesco website, eventually getting to the end of the shop only to find that there were no delivery slots, nor any click and collect options/slots. My wife and I are isolating, so how are we supposed to make this work, and how can we follow Boris's directive if we can't order online? Also why don't they put the message at the top of the site rather than let you faff about for 2 hours for no end product. Very frustrating

Exactly the same with Sainsbury’s.
They are prioritising previous customers.
Morrison’s are talking about doing meat / vegetarian drop boxes for bare essentials. Sounds a decent idea.

It's not all the time either, only get access to slots early for things like Easter and Xmas. I have shopped online with Tesco for years and have a delivery every week on a pre paid plan
Can I get a slot now, no can I heck. Hopefully they will open up more slots so everyone can get what they need

Thanks for that, it is becoming clearer although more difficult.

I got one delivery a couple of weeks ago from Tesco. Since then, cannot get a delivery or 'click and collect' from Tesco, Sainsburys, Morrisons or Asda. God knows how people are booking these slots - they must be checking the sites every few minutes. 😡

The Govt and supermarkets need to sort this.

We have managed to order some wine from M and S now, due next thursday. Not normally a wine drinker, but I think I will be ready for it by then. Food harder to come by on line at the moment it seems.
Gonna ring round the local independent and farm shops tomorrow see what is happening. The big supermarkets obviously can’t supply us all fast enough by deliveries, and we should not be going out due to my wife’s underlying health issues.

Asda seems to have opened up a lot of home delivery slots, plenty available for 15th April.

I'd looked at Asda a few times yesterday and no slots were available. Then, after one final look at 11.30pm, found that there were some - booked one for 11 April. 🤞

It’s hardly surprising I don’t know what percentage used online prior to this crisis but I guess the demand has gone up tenfold & they’re not geared up for such an increase. Whilst they will have upped their game somewhat there are only so many vans & infrastructure which will limit further expansion, that along with the social distancing guidelines. I think wholesale suppliers are helping where possible but these things take time to organise, we can help each other & I'm sure that’s the case. Strange times for sure.

Agree. I feel sorry for those who have always used home delivery services but the supermarkets were never going to be able to cope with the new level of demand.

My missus is a key worker and went to Sainsburys at 8am this morning to pick up a prescription for me from the pharmacy. She immediately aborted as there were throngs of elderly all queuing up with trolleys to get in. This is just madness.

The elderly shouldn't even be out.
I'd get the police down there to disperse them and tell them to go home. 😉 😉😁
