Oxford United v Blackpool Official Matchday Thread 20.03.21

Can't see anything but a defeat at Oxford, they are in pretty good form and we just aren't scoring enough at the moment. I'd love to be proved wrong but I fear we might get a bit of a battering tomorrow 🙁

It's a tough ask with half our team missing Ekpiteta, Madine, Stewart, CJ?, Viking? Unless we can get at least three of these back and soon we will struggle to maintain a play-off push

im thinking that the way we have been playing - fleetwood, second half aginst Burton, the ball has to start dropping for us and some of those chances we create where there has been a lot of last ditch blocking and off the line clearances are going to go in. I cant see us suddenly shipping a load of goals, although we are still riding our luck at times. if we can get ahead in the first twenty minutes half an hour i can see us scoring a few. I'm going 3-1 to us, 2 in the first half, oxford to pull one back go all out attack and we get a third in the last quarter hour. Yates, Turton is due one and Kaikai with a worldy

Either it clicks together after that second half and we hammer them, or it’s a game too far for our lack of goal scoring. I’m going for the former. 3-1 to the Pool.

0-1 to us for what would be a valuable away win. Fancy Turton to score, would be much deserved on his recent good form.

2-0 unfortunately. Our lack of goals is slowly starting to knock the team and erode confidence.

Walnut will undoubtedly predict 0-0 :)

Who knows what the result will be, our performances are patchy at best and we definitely don't score enough although we do defend well.
Could be anything but I would imagine there will be no more than 3 goals in the game.
I just hope that we have something like the 2nd half against Burton but with better finishing, it would give us something to build on.

All I hope is that NC selects an attacking line up and formation.
Start with the same players & tactics that did so well in the 2nd half vs Burton.
Another draw is most likely result, but if we keep it tight at the back & with a bit of luck, could see a repeat of the Portsmouth result. 🙏🏻

All I know is we need to compete right from the first whistle, get that first 20 minutes with us on the front foot and let them know we mean business not let them dictate play,at the end of the season it could be us or them for 6th place, this is a BIG game

No hoofball and play the ball on the deck ffs and we have a chance.

Time for Bez to get on the bench but with no game time he can’t be anywhere near match fit. Is he injured by the way? 🙄

Decent weather with little or no wind

Hoping Neil critchley puts the same team out that played the second half on Tuesday and they play with no fear and attack attack attack and bring us home the three points.
Play for 90 minutes as opposed to 45 😆😆😆

Totally agree... has to.

They certainly think they will win (tried to attach their result votes but not working??) so let's see a great attacking performance and 3 pts

Yep totally agree with this. No Apter of Holmes selected in the Walsall game today so might be same again.

Oxford around 6/4,we`re around 2/1 with the draw around 11/5. So all three alternative results perfectly possible with an Oxford win slightly favoured. I can`t disagree with that assessment.

0-0 seems not unlikely but if we can sneak a win then we are back in the hunt. numerous big games today between teams above us. UTMP !!!!

They are a good side doing well at the moment, and we rarely get much there

3 - 0 to the Mighty, I never know what side will turn up. Critch did make some comment about going for it, even if you risk a loss. 3 points is big, 1 doesn't take us forward and 1 less isn't the end of the world for me.

Antwi and Holmes on the bench the call to give youth a chance has been answered unless there are stuff all left to use with all the injuries. 🤔

Husband obviously injured and Ward for Mitchell, which I’m ok with, as we can bring on Mitchell. I’d have gone with Gabriel, but Turton playing well.

A point would be a great result today, with the games in hand, particularly if other results go our way. All the pressure on Oxford, as we have 2 in hand on them.

Another solid performance needed, like Portsmouth away.

Message for Matt Scrafton please ask Critchley the footballing reasons as to why Lubala can’t even make the bench in our team considering we’re one of the lowest scoring outfits.
