People are massively underestimating the impact

the inability to give your ticket to a mate will have on attendances. The small percentage who have the physical ticket will be alright but the vast majority won’t go to the trouble of faffing about to email the club etc to get a ticket printed even if that proves possible. And yes a few people will say well let them buy a ticket then but let’s be honest many of the people who take a freebie are Utd Liverpool fans and it just won’t happen. At least they fill a seat and you never know a few might get the bug. It’s just a worry that this weekend at least knocking on a 1000 will be on holiday I suspect and those seats will be empty, I know mine will I’m away all week, despite me knowing loads who’d love to go and watch the game. It’s not even like we’re trying to pull a fast one we have paid for the bloody ticket after all! And don’t get me started on midweek winter fixtures if we’re not doing well 😀
I‘ll post on the same issue again next week as I know a lot of you enjoy me going over old ground again

The league average of ticket holders not attending is around 30%. Think with this app/card issue our season tickets will be about 60% in attendance.

But match sales will go up. By how much who knows.

It’s a risky commercial strategy. Already got the fans back up, might not be profitable.

Just remove it from your Google wallet and if it's someone you trust forward them the email and they can download it to their Google wallet and reverse the process before the next game 🤷🏻‍♂️

I think the Club has not thought this through. I am 80 next year and sometimes the 200 mile round trip from York is difficult if I'm not feeling too well or the weather is bad. I sit with my niece who is local and if I don't go she will not go on her own. Normally her husband or daughter would use my adult ticket which I bought for that purpose. Under the new rules there would be two more empty seats on the occasions when I cannot attend.

Some fans, not the fans.

I couldn't give a shit about people not being able to transfer something that they are explicitly told in the terms and conditions is non transferable.

If you log onto your BFC account they have added the option to forward to a friend....and the option to post on ticket exchange. This must be the way of sharing it. Ie as long as they have an account you can forward them the ticket

Not sure this is a very compelling argument for the club to reconsider the ticketing policy. If people who have done this many times in the past, still don't enjoy the occasion enough to get their own tickets, not sure they ever will.

It looks like its just for the first 3 games at the moment.

It doesn't happen often Memphis but I'm with you completely on this. It takes the soul out of football. It turns supporting your team into a purely transactional relationship.

I’m partially with you. And I’m all for the club making more money.

I think they’ve tried to reduce season tickets sales and increase match ticket. It’s more profitable that way. But, we’ve just broke our season ticket record in this division so the early signs are it hasn’t worked. Less revenue and lots more empty seats.

I know loads who can only attend half the games but want ‘their seat’, so they buy a season ticket. Think you’re a little hard on those fans there.

I won't be able to go to all games throughout the season but I will always buy a season ticket (funds permitted ) because it is much cheaper.

In your case, I would bite the bullet and get a printed card and leave it with the family.

Did you not consider buying the plastic card?

If this continues all season it will make things much easier to pass on season ticket than with a physical card.

Just pay the £20 for a physical ticket....let's flip this... Why should those who can use the digital ticket subsidise those who don't want to......clearly cheaper for the club to do it digitally....

If you are going to share it with a friend/relative anyway... Get them to contribute to the £20

FFS just buy a plastic card for £20 over two seasons then pass it on.

When you had a printed ticket it was because you didn't have your ST not to flog it to someone and was warned at the time you could have only so many printed in a season.

Some are making out a problem which isn't there typical Avftt.

It's a shame that you can't just give them to a mate. I've got a couple of games I can't go to in October and I would have give them to my next door neighbour and his lad. So mine and my daughters seats will just be empty instead. Surely having 2 people that will buy a couple of pies and drinks is better than not.

I can definitely foresee a few thinly attended Tuesday nights when the West Stand cocoa brigade don't fancy it much and are too tight to fork out the 20 quid on behalf of others 😗 🤸‍♂️🍞

Getting a bit boring this, if you can't be arsed deleting from your wallet - two clicks, then just buy a card.

P.s. whoever is responsible for club marketing needs to go back to school - £369 standard with a £20 discount for going digital would've completely changed how this was received.

you’re bang on it’s dreadful marketing. If they had an ounce of common sense you could advertise it exactly as you stated and it would have prevented all the whiners having a field day. It’s all about perception people wouldn’t feel they’d been shafted if they paid in one lump sum.

I just think the club should make it as easy as possible to attend a football match. The current policy does the opposite.
On the odd occasion I don’t go I sometimes give my ticket to my Dad. At his age and lack of IT savvy he’s just not gonna fork around with digital tickets. I’ve bought the physical card so he can still have it, but it really is a load of nonsense
